Era Ann Blankenship(1) was born in 1847. She died in 1891. Buial was in another unknown cemetery and the body was disinterred in 1919 and moved to Spring Hill. -Sandy Stephenson, 3/24/2002 She was buried in 1919 in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, Cabell Co., WV. Children were: Roda A. Stephenson, Newton Edward Stephenson, Beamer Medley Stephenson , George F. Stephenson, Emma Stephenson, Leah E. Stephenson. Jacob Marion Smith was Born 1824 Pike County Kentucky he had many Children with his Cousin Elizabeth Jane Smith. Alot of People say that the mother to these children of Jacob Marion "mexico" Smith is Susan Elizabeth Barbour. If you notice Susan Elizabeth Barbour is in the 1850 census records with her father while Jacob is already with his Lady Elizabeth born 1824. Now the 1860 census he is still with Elizabeth born 1824. In 1870 he is gone. He was shot and killed by Ira Copley in his brother in law Samuel Damrons house. But his Lady Elizabeth is still present with JACOB MARION SMITHS children her birth is still 1824 on this census. Susan Elizabeth Barbour did marry a Jacob B. N. Smith on September 13th 1850. The Jacob Marion Smith that everyone claims she married was with his family on the 1850 census taken on the 4th of september. Please do change your information about this family. |

I was recently there and noted that there are some headstones and footstones that haven't been connected with the families on the web site. So,if you don't mind I will give you names; William Brown 11/1/1895 (no stone), Mahalia Dennison 4/19/1861 (wife of John Dennison (footstone only)), Adala Dennison 11/12/1860(footstone da of John and Mahalia 26yrs), Margaret Dennison 9/23/1858 (footstone-da of John and Mahalia). Ambrose Dolittle (born Jan.20,1800 died Aug. 15, 1856, Elizabeth Love (wife of Wm Love , Aug 3, 18?? 59ys5ms21days), Mary (wife of Andrew Sheff age 51yrs 9mos),John H Sheff (Aug 20, ????), Samuel Harshbarger(May 25, 1846), Thomas Hatfield (Son of A. Hatfield- Born Sept 9, 1861 Died ? 2, 1864), S.C Love (died ??27). There is far more buried there but many stones have been destroyed. We know Leonard Turner 4/15/1828-5/6/1894 is buried there (married a Sheff daughter of Andrew). At one time the cemetery may have had the name Love/Sheff (or vice versa)cemetery. Some of it is now intact due to the efforts of Boy Scout Troop 701 restoration Eagle badge project many years ago.

I come from the Memphis, TN line...one of the youngest in our group and I am 60, so all of my aunts and uncles have long since died out. There were 4 boys and 4 girls in my daddy's family..and of the boys, only one had a biological son to carry on the name. His name was William, the second oldest boy, and his son, Billy, was born in Memphis, but now lives somewhere like Idaho...I am in touch with his sister and my cousin, Vicky, who lives in Memphis. The oldest son, Julius, adopted a son..but not sure of his name. My father was born in 1911, the last of 8 children born to Alexander Freutel and Charlotte Wright and I do believe that they started out in WVA ..that sounds familar,,but no hard evidence. Iseem to remember tht Charlotte Wright caome from WVA. The older children were all born in Pine Bluff, AK I think... and the younger ones all in Mmemhis. TN. I know that as young people, they would go visit in Pine Bluff. I think I have talked or written to Majorie Freutel...I was living in FL when I married in the late '80s..(11 yr marriage, no children) but cannot remember how I found her...and I believe that the owners of the Steamboat Inn in Steamboat Co are Freutels. It is my understanding that three brothers came over to the US after the Franco- were on the Franco side.. three. But I have no hard research on that. I know there are Freutels in Germany and German Freutels who immigrated to the US who pronounce the name "FROY-tel"....our family pronounce it "froo.TELL"....pronounced in the French manner ... I'm surprised you don't have any Eplins. I have more than 500 names on my family tree now (90 percent from cabell or there bouts. :) One thing I did notice: On Reuben Adkins, you say he was born in 1780, but that's not possible if you look at when his parents, William and Elizabeth, were born. I don't know. And if someone in the Franklin Zirkle family could tell me whether george washington zirkle jr. had a baby named anna elizabeth, born in 1892, that would be fabulous. it's a long shot, but he's the only zirkle in there. |

Huntington came to Guyandotte, he hitched his horse up to Mr. Dusenberry's hitching post. When he was told to untie his horse, he went across the river.
Mr. Freutel had the last word when, after he divorced my grandmother, married C.P. Huntinton's grandaughter Bea Huntington. I see no reference to the Freutel Family who was well established in Cabell County. My Great Uncle Doug was both Sheriff and Liquor Commissioner of Cabell County.
