Please use the following subject line: Save Mulder And Scully Although David Duchovny has left The X-Files, fans of the show want to maintain the illusion that Mulder and Scully are still personally involved with each other. This is not an unreasonable request because in Avatar we learned that Skinner had a previously unseen wife, and although we did not see Scully's mother for two whole seasons we still knew she had one. It would be out of character for Mulder to move away from Scully, especially now that they have a child. We do not want to see Scully romantically involved with anyone else--not even one kiss. If Mulder's departure is intended to be a stepping stone for Scully's departure at the end of the upcoming season, then wait until the the end of the season to say that Mulder is moving and Scully will be joining him. A great joke would be to have David's stand-in in the background when Scully is at home--of course you wouldn't be able to see his face clearly (a gag similar to those used on Home Improvement and Will And Grace). Fans will never approve of Mulder being an absentee father. Mulder and Scully are cultural icons and their relationship should not be tampered with. If Mulder and Scully split up, don't expect fans to continue watching. I know I won't. |
