| Comments: | I love this website. It'll become more and more important now that they're demolishing even more of the old city in the name of 'capital of culture'. It's ironic that in a year dedicated to culture we're losing so much of our heritage. Many thanks for this site Caryl.

| Comments: | What a facinating site. Thank you for you hard work and dedication. Myself and my family live in Australia but I was born in Bromborough-over the water. My Mum Edith Coe was born in Index St Walton which was bombed out of existance during WW2. My Dad William James -Jim-Fletcher was born in Tranmere-over the water! They met on the Eastam Ferry boat "The Ruby" hence my name. Can anyone tell me about St Lukes Church Upper Parliament St. which my Dad said held some of his family records. I think it was bombed during the war so I suppose all the records were lost.. Margaret in Australia |

| Comments: | Hi,
I live in Pittsburgh, Pa. USA You have a fantastic site here. Unfortunately I didn't find what I was looking for and maybe I am looking in the wrong place. I was looking for William Edmondsons marriage. He married a Mary Ann but I don't know her maiden name. I'm thinking they got married somewhere between 1963-1865. I was also looking for their one son's birth records. His name is James. He was born in 1867 in Aldingham, Lancashire. James is my gg grandfather....William being my ggg grandfather. I was also hoping to find William's birth records. He was born around 1838 in Dalton Lancashire. Thank you again for all the information you do have on your site. I know it had to have helped a lot of people researching their ancestors. Linda :-) |

| Comments: | By the way - my grandfather lived at 15 Bangor Road, Wallasey Merseyside until he died in the mid to late 1970's. His sister, Minnie, owned an as yet unidentified store, somewhere near or at the shipping yards.
I also just want to say that I have "met" some incredibly wonderful people on my journey. A kind woman at the Liverpool Library has really extended herself to me. I am eternally grateful to her for her kindness and well, I guess I wanted you to know that to be the recipient of such kindness from a stranger is not only very overwhelming, but it speaks volumes about the folks who reside in Liverpool. |

| Comments: | I am an American who is searching for her maternal family. My mom was born in Liverpool in 1926 to Jeanne and Ephraim Davis (he was also called Dolph). She was an only child. I've just learned that my grandfather had a brother, Maurice, and I believe a sister, Minnie. Although we were always told she never married, documents indicate the last name of Edge. My mom had one cousin, Henry Hill. Henry had a son and a daughter. His son's name is Adrian. I do not know about the daughter. I've been trying to find out if Henry is deceased. Can you help? |

| Comments: | I wonder if anyone has a map showing where Portland Street Liverpool is. I am researching Kelly and Colville families. Does anyone know what was the Parish Church of Liverpool in 1846? I have the marriage certificate of John Kelly 1827 Ireland and Mary Colville 1826 Scotland, it states John's father as Philip Kelly Manager of Cotton Factory. Does anyone know if there are any records at all where I might be able to find out more about him. I have picked both families up on some census but cannot find Kelly family on 1851 which I thought would be easy as it is reasonably close to the marriage. Unfortunately I don't have 1841 census to look up either family. I don't know when the Colvilles moved from Scotland to Liverpool. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Julie |

| Comments: | I am researching the history of the only chinese junk to sail to the U.K. and U.S.A. before the twentieth century. Purchased by a group of Scottish/liverpool adventurers in August 1846 in Canton, includeing Douglas Lapraik who was a founder of The hong kong And shanghai bank. The Guangdong junk Keying was much visited by the paying public in Boston,New York and london. Captained by charles Alfred Auckland Kellet,Keying had a passenger,Hesing a mandarin (possibly self appointed!) who presented himself to the Queen at the opening of the Great Exhibition of 1851. Keying was dismantled by Redhead Harling and Brown at there premises opposit the entrance to Tranmere Ferry on the Mersey at a date unknown. What became of the chinese crew and Hesing?...there is no information at records offices and museums in Liverpool. Any help with this fascinateing story will be much appreciated. |

He joined the Merchant Navy and was ship wrecked whilst on board the "Empress of India" he got ashore wearing only his night shirt, and a ring, which is still in the family. The ship's name may not be 100% accurate as i have tried to hunt down such a vessel. George Dent also brought back one of the first bunches of green bananas to Liverpool. |
