Comments:the Pooh Sticks are great! the best overlooked gem of the 90's is right on the head. White Wonder and Million Seller and magnificent, they cut against every grain of the 90's and are the best for it. Exactly who's buttocks is that on the Million Seller sleeve?

Some days I wake thinking of a glass of ‘Bow for breakfast and a fourteen hour session in the Bunker. And there was a Welsh girl, beautiful as the Rhondda valley. Paint me a picture of what it is I'm missing... But from Dien Bien Phu to Swansea the buzz is that SuperTsar are the future of rock'n'roll. Maybe if I just turned up with a Vox Phantom 12 string? And Dora's won't look like a scene from Christiane F, and no-one got hurt, or died, or left, and the sun will be shining on a pop group playing football on the beach. Maybe. Just maybe. Love, Henry the Dog.

Comments:FUCK ME RIGID WITH A BIG LONG STICK! THIS IS ASUMING THAT YOU ARE THE LUCIOUS TRUDI POOHSTICK; I don't know if you're willing to remember me, but i was the handsome Peter Tork-like guitar player with the seminal substandard mary chain punk rock combo 'The Spirals', in the heady days of the late Eighties indie pop music scene in swingin swansea! I have finally brought myself to write to you to declare my aching lust that has been burning all these years and now that you're probably really haggered and bald I can deal with the fact that we never got it on. I know at the time I gave all my attention to that moody strumpet Stephanie but I swear it was always you I wanted! How different life could have been if we'd taken that chance to sneak out the back door of Jo's icecream parlour on that rainy day in June of '88 and left all those wankers behind. That lingering kiss in the cubicles of the mens toilets in the Uplands Tavern was no accident! Life could have been so different. I don't know what you're doin now or where you're doin it and I don't even care, but I just had to tell you about all this before I go. So now with that confession I can go to the grave to play pedal steel guitar with Gram Parsons and forget this cruel world of pain and heartache. 'If dreams had wings I'd fly to you' Pablo D. Ablo

Comments:Just letting you sad indie kids know that Steve Gregory (vocals & bass)and guitarist/drummer Michel van der Woude recorded a 7" and CD for the mighty Sympathy For The Record Industry label in '96 as International Language, both called "Where the bands are". You should check 'em out since you all seem to like that melodic-indie-rock-kinda shit. By the way: this 'band' isn't around anymore either and only did one gig, so no, they won't be coming to play in your town! Buy the records. Long Gone John still must have thousands of them!

Mike wrote a number of their songs and they always seem to get the crowd going. If you see the Palomino's about anywhere go and have a look and you won't be dissapointed. I heard they are playing 'the Borderline ' soon.

Comments:Just to let y'all know that Hue and The Poohs are featured heavily in a new book, If you are a fan of Welsh music then a new book, 'Cerys, Catatonia and The Rise Of Welsh Pop'. The book has extensive interviews with Hue and is a must-have addition to your literary collection. Apparently! It's a book that celebrates cool Welsh music, lifting the lid on the highs and lows of the Welsh music scene. The book also charts the inexorable rise of the Welsh pop icons (Manics, Super Furries, Gorkys, Stereophonics) that have transformed a nation's cultural landscape and dragged it kicking and screaming into the 21st century. As well as the documenting the rise of Cymru's all-singing, all-swigging, woman-on-the-verge-of-a-nervous-breakdown (!), the book immerses itself in three decades of Welsh music. Amongst the many subjects the book investigates are the dynamic '80s Welsh language music scene, (including a rundown of the bands that would become The Super Furries, Catatonia, Big Leaves and Gorkys), emergent 80s Welsh flagbearers The Alarm and The Darling Buds, the politics of the nation's musical renaissance and the 'new Seattle' Newport scene of the mid '90s. The books also includes the authors colourful recollections of eventful encounters with the Manic Street Preachers and the equally scam-some Pooh Sticks (of course!). It is published by Ebury Press (an imprint of Random House) and is available for £9.99. For all you online buyers www.amazon.co.uk and www.amazon.com have the book. (Although for some reason on the Amazon sites it is listed under its working title

Comments:A Sticks reunion might be out of the question but the lead guitarist now plays in a band called The Redlands Palomino Company who play around London all the time. Check them out soon though as he's considering retiring from music. Little known Pooh Sticks facts: The band, originally conceived as a pastiche indie band, were going to quit after the first John Peel session and start up as either a rap act, using the name Public Pooh or LL Pooh J, or a christian metal band called The Pooh Mags ! Apollo Smile is now a presenter on the Sci Fi C

I only saw them play once and was slightly confused as they were all male. They were great though. Visit my web site to see my bootlegs section. I don't have much I do have the very first Pooh Sticks gig.

Comments:I just discovered the Pooh Sticks after buying SFTRI compilation with "soft beds, hard battles" on it. I have Formula One Generation and Optimistic Fool which I listen to constantly. It's truly unfortunate that I'll never have an oppurtunity to see them live, being from the US I'll probably never even have an oppurtunity to collect all their albums. But, at least I get indie cred for being a fan!

Comments:Spin Magazine put out an Alternative Record Guide which looks at almost every quality band that could be even slightly considered "alternative": everything from ABBA to John Zorn. Needless to say, this book quickly became a bible for me. I read through their review of the Pooh Sticks a few times and decided to see if they were as good as the raves they were getting. I found a copy of "Optimistic Fool" at a used cd store, and now I can't stop listening to it!! Long live the International Pop Underground!! High praise to The Pooh Sticks!

My dream is to have a pooh sticks reunion show play at a big party i would host. I've recently read that Hue has given up on the band, and is now managing Welsh groups such as the 60 ft dolls. Comments:FINALLY!! A Pooh Sticks page! I couldn't believe it...great page. I finally got the lyrics to some songs I never knew the words to. Now I can sing along with Hue and strengthen my singing voice with the words I know! The Pooh Sticks are fabulous. It's so hard finding any of their albums here in California. Another great underrated power pop band. They're so unique in their sound, and the songs they write don't follow any structure or anything...they just do whatever the hell they want to do! I think that's beautiful. Fabulous! Love Sharon
