My great,great,grandmother according to my grandmother was an Indian Princess of the Flat Head Tribe in Tuscaloosa County Alabama. According to my grandfather his people were "Black Dutch" from either east Alabama or Georgia,possibly of the Creek Nation. I have found in an 1832 census of the town of Che-haw-ah(or Che-ah-haw)the name of a head of family- Luck-y.My grandmother's people were Mackey's and Kemp's. |

| Comments: | I am a descendant of Muscogee Creek chiefs Mad Dog and Far Off Warrior, but because my direct ancestor died the year the Dawes Roll was implemented and only her one living sibling was registered on the roll, I am not accepted by the US Government OR the Muscogee Creek Nation. Even though my cousins who descended from my direct ancestor's full sister have been accepted and I can prove our connection - it doesn't matter. I think that's a shame that I can't even be recognized by the Creek Nation as a descendent. It's very disappointing. I don't want money or anything from the government. I just would like to have my heritage valued by the Muscogee Creek enough to acknowledge me. It's not just the US Government that has bureaucracy and denies Native people - they do it to their own. And I have even had Native people tell me that because I didn't grow up on a reservation that I'm a "wannabe". I don't want to be anything, I am who I am. Why are some Native Americans so prejudiced against those of us who are proud of our heritage? My great-great-great Aunt Patience Strickland DePriest, full sister to my great-great-great grandmother Viannie (Annie) Strickland Carlisle, is the only descendant of the children of Far Off and Hannah Hale who made the Dawes Roll. She died on a reservation in Oklahoma in 1906. I'm very proud of my Muscogee Creek ancestory. If my great-great-great Grandmother hadn't died when she did and had been registered as was her sister, then I could legitimize my heritage. Nonetheless, I have the genealogy and know who I am, but I feel that my ancestors are dishonored that their descendants are dismissed as "wannabe" Native Americans. |

Mainly, you have to have a relative on the Dawes Roll and be a descendent of them through parental names and birth certificates, to be enrolled into a tribe. There are a few exceptions but not many. They came to Indian Territory during the removal. I don't know what happened to Fannie's family. I seen them in the census before the removal. My great great great great grandfather on my grandfather's maternal side was William Weatherford. His grandson Windfield Scott Howell came to IT after the removal and met my great great grandmother, Salina Lowe. |

It is with great sorrow that I am informing you that she had pasted away on March 1st 2008. the wake and services was on this pass Friday the 7th, 2008. Her history is very well documented. She is even noted in the Smithson Institute. Her grandfather's name was Chief Hawk Eyes and her mother's name was Princess Blue Moon. I have questions about: Depositions for Michael EHLERT before IA by James CORNELLS, Sam DALE, Zachariah McGIRTH in your Creek documents, at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cmamcrk4/crkdox19.html#anchor1171326 shared by Steve Travis. I am a descendant of Samuel Elbert (Georgia, 1740-1788) who worked as a boy (circa 1755) under John Rae (mentioned in Lachlan MacGillivray's will, http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cmamcrk4/crkdox27.html#anchor1047473) as an Indian trader and who served under General Lachlan MacIntosh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lachlan_McIntosh) during the American Revolution (and was quite loyal to him) I note that Elbert and his wife Elizabeth Rae (John Rae's daughter) are not mentioned in Lachlan MacGillivray's will while Rae, his wife Catherine, and other daughter Jean Sommerville are (I assume this is either because of Elbert's ties to MacIntosh or to the American Revolution; the MacGillivray's were loyalists, as Elbert originally was, but switched). I would like to see the originals of the documents shared by Mr. Travis, because of the various spellings of Ehlert (also spelled Elhart and I think Elliot). I am wondering if in any way this could be a corruption of the name Elbert and if Michale Ehlert is a long lost distant cousin, because of course, Elbert was quite close to some of the Creeks and in fact the Creeks apparently spared/saved his life once in the woods. Thus I'm checking to see if he is an Elbert descendant by a Creek wife, possibly a grandson. (This would not make us Creek, since we are descendants of Elbert's wife Rae, but would make the Elhart line Elbert descendants.) Thanks. Sincerely, C. E. His grandfather was adopted by a white family named Parker from Dadeville, Al. My great grandmother told me when I was a little girl that her mother name was Little Feather.
