I just traced my ancestry back to John Wilkes Booth. I know there were several instances of interbreeding, breed mixing and even inbreeding. They were swamp dwellers and survived on small game, and in some instances, cannibalism. |

| Comments: | I am a descendant of Muscogee Creek chiefs Mad Dog and Far Off Warrior, but because my direct ancestor died the year the Dawes Roll was implemented and only her one living sibling was registered on the roll, I am not accepted by the US Government OR the Muscogee Creek Nation. Even though my cousins who descended from my direct ancestor's full sister have been accepted and I can prove our connection - it doesn't matter. I think that's a shame that I can't even be recognized by the Creek Nation as a descendent. It's very disappointing. I don't want money or anything from the government. I just would like to have my heritage valued by the Muscogee Creek enough to acknowledge me. It's not just the US Government that has bureaucracy and denies Native people - they do it to their own. And I have even had Native people tell me that because I didn't grow up on a reservation that I'm a "wannabe". I don't want to be anything, I am who I am. Why are some Native Americans so prejudiced against those of us who are proud of our heritage? My great-great-great Aunt Patience Strickland DePriest, full sister to my great-great-great grandmother Viannie (Annie) Strickland Carlisle, is the only descendant of the children of Far Off and Hannah Hale who made the Dawes Roll. She died on a reservation in Oklahoma in 1906. I'm very proud of my Muscogee Creek ancestory. If my great-great-great Grandmother hadn't died when she did and had been registered as was her sister, then I could legitimize my heritage. Nonetheless, I have the genealogy and know who I am, but I feel that my ancestors are dishonored that their descendants are dismissed as "wannabe" Native Americans. |

| Comments: | I've been doing Creek Indian genalogy for many years and have a lot of names, mostly off of Creek town lists, pay lists, and the Dawes Roll. Mainly, you have to have a relative on the Dawes Roll and be a descendent of them through parental names and birth certificates, to be enrolled into a tribe. There are a few exceptions but not many. The names and dates will be verified. |

lula bell young born late 1800's in Gateswood Ala. was Creek Indian, I've been unable to locate any further information on her thus far, but she married John Pink Ward whom was born in Bagdad Florida, they had several children.. my Grandmother Willie Lou, several others Robin, Grace, Lee just to name a few, whom have lived in the Walnut Hill area of Florida, though most are now passed away, Willie Lou who lives in California and Grace Gipson of Walnut hill are all that remain.
