| Comments: | Looking for info on Texans John William Greer and wife Bessie Connerly Greer who were from South Carolina and Selma, Alabama, respectively, originally. He was City Engineer in San Antonio, Texas, said to have built the first Street Railway and the first Natatorium (swimming pool) there. He also held this position in San Antonio, where my mother, Inez May Greer, was born in 1897, and in Bryan, Texas, where my uncle Fred Greer graduated from Texas A & M. Fred served in the first World War and was a petroleum engineer in Mexico at one time. J.W. Greer also was City Engineer in Tallahassee, Florida, where Bessie oversaw the planting of a city rose garden. They retired to Florida and then to a farm outside Beeville, Texas. |

| Comments: | Hi Ms. Middleton,
My name is Christina and my parents and I are researching our family history. We know that my great-grandmother's name was Fannie Turvin, and she married William Hicks. We found that on your page of the "Tervins" (or Tarvin or Turvin) those names are listed. My grandmother really doesn't know much about what her heritage is, she originally thought she was Irish, but after finding this page that says Fannie was English, she says that that sounds possible too. I was wondering if you have any further information on either Fannie Turvin or William Hicks, or if you know of any ways that I could get ahold of further information on them. I would greatly appreciate any information that you can give me. Thank you, Christina |

I am very new to geneology, and am just beginning to do some very basic research on my family. I was born in Waco Texas and still have a few relatives there including a McLennan, although I know live in Southern California. Thanks so much for all of your information on the McLennans and MacKinnons. I had not come across the MacKinnon name before, but knew that the Neill McLennan in Texas was born in Scotland in either 1777 or 1787. |

| Comments: | Hello! Tried to find family in Walker/Cass/Harris Co, Texas starting on the internet, 2000 to help and start life all over again as a young widow. I'm the biggest dreamer of all, people don't care about anyone anymore; there is nothing behind the eyeballs, as I say! So, I've discovered what is even worst that all Americans are related by virture of a common ancestor 2-300 years back, and in Europe they are discovering they are all related 500-1000 years back, and so, if you go to THE LIVING BIBLE somewhere, we are all kin as Daughters of Sarah, and not as Daughters of Lucy, and so, I guess that means all war is genocide. They are building a wall in Jerusalem, and is this the "wall spoken of in Ezekiel when he saw the jet planes and flying saucers coming in for a landing?!" You have to remember that children have been dying of hunger and disease in Texas, now abortion due to wild people without any sense of civilization, love or family for 200 years, and they are spending $15 Billion Dollars a year for Israel to wall off their hearts from the rest of us. I would say the Jews are on the biggest revenge trip of all times, but why does America have to pay the bill! I found a Graves on that road going out of Atlanta, and she had the face of Alsace-Lorraine, and so, I'm wasting my time, trying to keep from crying, as all women are crying all over the earth from the insanity of the male species trying
to prove my theory that cousins have been preying on cousins and stalking them from day one, and just when I need a cousin to stalk me, the Feds outlawed it! If only I could be a dictator in America to get rid of the evil intents on all sides. Everyone is locked behind closed doors and in secret churches to try and protect what little is left of hope in America. We were the developing country, not the people of other countries in Europe who carry on their constant war and destruction!! My Mother's hand is shaking of fear of what God has stored up for all these phoney Jews and Christians and Muslims killing all the women and children on earth in their greed! | Comments: | I was excited to stumble across your information on the Neil McLennan family, especially the reference to the family friendship with Archibald A. Anderson and the marriage of Neil's granddaughter to Archibald's son Allen Stewart Anderson (your reference to Alan S. Anderson.
Allen Stewart Anderson is my great, great, great uncle and my uncle (Sam Oswald) still lives and farms part of the land Allen bought when he settled in Bosque County, Texas. I was wondering if you have any other information about the Anderson's. I know Angus was the first person buried in the McLennan family cemetery in Bosque County, having died only 5 weeks after he arrived in what is now Waco. I have been able to find out history on the McLennan family since they were some of the very first pioneers in Bosque and McLennan Counties. I can find out a great deal about Allen Anderson because of several stories about his shooting by a friend who thought he was an Indian while they were trying to recover stolen horses following an Indian raid. I can find out a great deal about Allen's daughter, Flora, because she and her husband became known as the first family of Wichita Falls, quite powerful and wealthy. Her brother, Archibald D. Anderson, moved to Wichita Falls with them and also became influential in the area. I cannot find out anything before they came to Texas other than to assume they were with the McLennan's much of the time. I do know that they lived in Mississippi for a number of years between Florida and Texas while the McLennan's went straight to Texas. Several of the Anderson children were born in Mississippi. I have assumed they came from Scotland together but can't document where the Anderson's came from. I am also looking for Allen's grave. Legend in Comanche County, Texas, where he was killed, is that he was buried there; however, no one knows where. One of his Anderson uncles did settle in Comanche. My Uncle Sam Oswald knows Allen was buried in the family cemetery still in operation on his farm in Bosque County, but he remembers that Flora came from Wichita Falls in the 1930's?? when my Uncle lived in West Texas and had Allen's remains moved. We don't know where. I have found a reference that sites Flora and her husband (Joseph Kemp) having moved the remains of Joseph's father to Wichita Falls in Riverside Cemetery. It seems logical that they might have moved Allen at the same time. Allen's wife, Mary, Neil's granddaughter had remarried and was buried with her second husband in our family cemetery. I've wondered if Flora didn't like her step father or had some hard feelings that would cause her to move Allen. I have been to Wichita Falls and found all of the family for several generations in the Riverside Cemetery----but not Allen. I have found Archibald A., incorrectly marked Alan in a little cemetery in Waco. I don't know where his wife, my great, great, great grandmother, is. The McLennan's had to all be moved in the 1960's when Lake Waco was enlarged and caused the McLennan Family Cemetery to be in the flood plain. I guess the old grave marker had deteriorated so the descendents didn't know Archibald A's. name; however, they did write up a statement that he was the father of Allen Anderson married to Mary Robinson. I have probably bored you with this but am willing to share much more of my research and family stories if you are interested. You would probably be most interested in Flora and Archibald and their achievements in Wichita Falls as they are McLennan descendents. I even have a picture of Archibald's house there, taken in 2000. Any information or direction you might give me concerning the Anderson's would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your posting at Rootsweb. | Comments: | I had been doing research on my family line from Texas back
to Alabama over a year ago. I had difficulty finding the link back due to my grandfather leaving Alabama to flee the law around 1900. However, I was able to link my family, the Knox clan, from Talledega, AL in a census record from 1860. We've also been able to link them to ancestors in S. Carolina. No one in our family had this information available to them. What information we had was destroyed in a fire several years ago. It has been really exciting to find out this information after such a long time. Unfortunately, we've not had a lot to go on, since many have already died. One question I have is in regard to the indians in Alabama and their possible marriage into my family. My great grandfather, James Montgomery Knox, married Olevia Ann Webb in the mid 1800's, who was said to have been part indian. We don't have much more information than that. (The last of the people who knew anything specific passed away last September.) Both were from the Talledega area. They eventually moved to Texas where they both are buried. Any info would be helpful! |

| Comments: | Carol,
I come from the Middleton line and enjoyed your Homepage on the Indians. (Are you part Indian?) Just wondered how you got interested? You have done a wonderful job. Did you paint the picture of the butterflies and Tuskaloosa and DeSoto? Very Good. I don't have anything on my Homepage on my Middleton side yet but I come from the SC bunch. Berkley area. Thomas Middleton and Mary Townsend/John and Sarah Goodby Middleton/James and Mary Owings Middleton (they went back and forth to GA and SC and died in GA) Mary Ann Middleton marreid John Graham, son of Duncan from NC to south GA., in GA and son Middleton Graham married Adeline Hall dau of Seaborn Hall from Tattnall county, GA son John Wallace Graham married Mary Noble and had my Grandmother Fannie Graham from Graham, GA who went to south AL and married and I grew up in south AL where my Mother did. She is 91 now and doing great. The reason I am writing is on my Dad's side we have Marie Turner Granddau of my gt gt Grandparents Charlotte Carleton from VT who married Dr. Alexander Turner in Barbaour county and they lived and died there. Marie married a Hightown and they lived and died in Barbour co. they never had any children, he had an automobile dealership, and his hobby was taking pictures years ago that have become very impt to the history of that part of the country. There are books and a museum with his works. He was far ahead of his time. Marie was a Pharmacist. They took the bricks from the Clayton City Hall when it was torn down and used them to build a Museum for the city. I am sure this Hightower was one of your Hightowers. John Middleton was very involved in preparing for the Rev War at Liberty and maybe his Father, too. John had a Brother Benjamin who we can not find anything on, I think there was a Hannah. John Only had ONE son and that was James who ended up in GA. The Grahams went to Appling GA from NC and the Halls from VA to NC to Montgomery county GA. I was born in Brooklyn, AL, lived in St. Louis for 30 years and wintering in Naples, FL. Thanks, Marita |

| Comments: | Dear Mrs Middleton,
I want to say what a wonderful site! I am particularly interested about the Creeks as my maternal family name is Beasley. My Grandmother always told me that my Grandfather's people were related to Red Eagle by marriage. My grandparents are from Atmore, ALabama, their home not far from the Poarch reservation on Highway 21. We had gone to his grave as childen, and I always found the supposed family connection facinating. If you can, please send me anything that strikes you as of interest. I know that I am related to the Colonel Beasley of FT. Mims and that indeed that my maternal grandfather was of mixed Creek blood. I have been told that my middle name, William, is given after Red Eagle. Thank you again! |

| Comments: | Dear Carol,
Am browsing your page as I research, and could sure use some advice on the following; After years of research, I believe I've found my great-grandfather, W.B. HUTCHINS. His wife, Louise or Eliza, was born in Alabama, and probably married there since their first son, Leroy was born in AL. I have no county, however. I found them on the 1880 census in Tennessee, and Louisa was 41, and son Leroy 21, which puts approximate marriage date as 1859. Any suggestions? |
