| Comments: | I just wanted to THANK YOU for all the information your site/page provided me in my geneology search. I have only just found my way home to my biological family these past 10 years, and although I've been given a copy of my family tree, it hasn't been until now that I took up investigating my heritage. I am down the branches of William "Red Eagle" Weatherford. It is truly interesting to read all this fascinating family ancestry! Makes me wish I had paid closer attention to my US History classes in school!
I am starting to fall in love with History now (well, at least our family's!) Thanks again for putting in all the obvious time and effort you've put in to this research! I am truly proud to be part of the Sehoy/Weatherford heritage/family! |

| Comments: | I grew up knowing I was of my grandmother's heritage. Her name, Jerusha Josephine Weatherford. She knew about her connection to Billy (Red Eagle) but knew very little. Partial facts. In her time, most people down played their Native American Heritage. Because I took after her family, she always called me her little indian girl. I cherished and carried that with me and have tried to live my life in a way to make her proud. When younger I started researching until Brothers and sisters started showing interest in "indian rights" so I quit. To me this research is spirtual and of deeper meaning. I have started my research again now that I am older. need to get my grandmother's birth certificate because I do not know her father's name. On reading Searching for Red Eagle, I felt for the first time in my life that I had come home and had a real place in this life. I would like to make a journey to places in Billy's life and perhaps to his burial site in Monroe County. Does anyone know if it is open to public and or other spiritual places that would be of importance in his life? I am doing this for my soul as well as in honor of my grandmother.
Thanks Di (Dances with Dogs) Bassett |

| Comments: | I recently learned through my father that my 5th grandmother on my father's side was Eliza Grierson one of Captain William McIntosh's wives. I want to know how and who to provide a DNA test to in order to prove my Indian heritage. I also realize I have Scottish heritage which is all very exciting to me. Apparently my aunt (my father's sister) did a geneaology research on our family some years back and traced us back to McIntosh family. I was adopted out of our family as my father and mother were not married at the time of my birth and therefore knew nothing about my family history. If anyone knows of the names Ethel B. Williams, Louisa Turner, Sarah Ann Cousin, Catherine McIntosh or Eliza Grierson, I would love to hear any information they might have. I was born in Walton County, Florida. Thank anyone for any info in advance. Barbara Kelley Rackley. |

I only began researching my family within the last six months and I'm thrilled to finally find out where I came from. My grandfather, Samuel Witt Hollinger, never, ever spoke of his family. With help from distant relatives I found that I am decended from Adam Hollinger and Elizabeth Moniac. I now feel as if I have all my Native American ancestors with me at all times. Thank you so VERY much and thanks to the Great Creator for revealing to me who I am. ps any assistance with Samuel Witt Hollinger b1883 in Oxford, Mississippi would be greatly appreciated :-) Bill |

| Comments: | I've always been told that my great great grandmother was a Creek Indian. I WANT TO FIND OUT HER LAST NAME AND THE TRIBE TO WHICH SHE WAS BORN. She was born 01 Oct 1814 in Upson County, GA. She married Abner W. Carter, 27 Nov 1834, in Upson County. Her marriage license records her name as only Cyntha (we know her as Cynthia). She died, 25 Aug 1885, in Tallapoosa County, AL. Her children are Thomas, Elisha, Cynthia, Samuel, Sarah, Emily, George, Amy, Jarred, Aletha, Isabella. I don't know where to begin to find out Cyntha's (or Cynthia's) Creek family or if it is even possible to do so. Any help would be appreciated. |

| Comments: | Hello! I was born and raised in Los Angeles. My paternal grandmother, Lestra Lawson Gray was from Attalla, Alabama. Her sister told me that my 3rd great-grandfather, John Parker was a steamboat captain carrying passengers on the Coosa River during the 1870's. His second wife whose first name started with a M (Melissa or Melinda, I can't remember which) who was 1/2 Indian from Choccolocco River in Alabama. Later, my research results revealed that Choccolocco River is located on Poarch Creek Indian reservation in southern Alabama. I was surprised that she was obviously a Creek! I mentioned this information to a Creek Indian student in Norman, Oklahoma. He even surprised me with even more information. He told me that Parker people were also mixed blood Creeks. He told me to find out if my Parker ancestor came out of Georgia. So I checked it on the Census records and, yes, it did show him being born in Georgia. I was stunned. Is there someone out there that can help me with my Parker genealogy? I can be reached at marykaywow@yahoo.com Thank you! |

| Comments: | I'm interested in researching my great grandmother, Sophia Elizabeth Tait (b. abt 1815) in Georgia. She married a Dr. Robert Burton Dickerson, of Walker County, Georgia, one of the signers of the Georgia Ordinance of Succession. One of her sons, my great grandfather, Marcus Irwin Dickerson, emigrated to Texas after the American Civil War. His daughter, Mayme Florence Dickerson Smith, always maintained that her father's family were Indians from Georgia. I've hit a dead end with Sophia Tait because I don't know the names of her parents. Nevertheless, my research does show some "Sophias" and "Elizabeths" in the Tait or Tate family. |

| Comments: | Dear folks, I'm not sure if I have ANY Indian ancestry in my bloodline. I've heard rumors for years that there was a full-blooded Comanche somewhere in the distant past but I really don't know, myself. I mean, the V.A. told me that I had prostate cancer, then I was diabetic, then I had a brain tumor. Turns out, none of those were correct. And you know how you get your blood typed when you enter grade-school? They said that I had O+. When I went to the U.S.Army at age 19 they said that I had B+. Now the V.A. tells me that I've got A+. And I ain't never had no transfusions neither! So, when someone tells me something that sounds kind of hokey I think to myself (yeah, right, buddy). Anyway, I need your help in two things. (1) please assist in that gene chart thing. I've got an I.Q. of 138 but apparently I'm too stupid to figure it out for myself. And (2) I did a web-search on art_n_song@yahoo.com and one of the responses told me to ignore that e-mail address. Now, I know the owner of that e-mail address personally! Her front door is 100ft. or less from my front door. She's sweet, funny, compassionate, really, really good-looking, single, a bit uppity, a tad snooty and she's not young enough to be my daughter (unless I started producing kids when I was 14 years old). In short, the absolutely ideal female for me! And, she's SUPER SUPER smart!!! A real + in my book. Will you please post this information on your "Creek Families & Friends" page and, as a special favor to me would you PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post this directly under her posting with my e-mail address in plain view. One other thing. I told her that I had an I.Q. of 178. Upon hearing this and after hurling streams of vile and rather insulting invective in my direction she honestly looked like she was about to give birth to multiple purple turkeys. I know that there is this slim possibility that I might be flirting with danger but you know what they say, "confession is good for the soul"!!! Except maybe not for the body as this SWEET, LOVING female might just decide to roast me over a spit for lying to her about my I.Q. And I'll be GLAD to sign your book! |

| Comments: | Hello,
I am searching for the surnames: Colson (spelled several ways) as you know. Phillips, Huggins, Light, Harrington and others. Lucinda Colson b. about 1839, Morgan county, a sister Elizabeth a year different in age. They moved on down into Baker County, Ga for a while. William A. Phillips married Lucinda, and they come to Holmes county, Fl early 1860. Soon they moved to Columbia and Suwannee county, Fl where they raised a big family. Does any one know who Lucinda's parents were? Could it be Isaac Colson? Lucinda was certainly Indian, as I have a picture of her. I am proud she was my Great Grandmother. I hope someone can remember if these Colsons are related, I would be so thankful. Merry Christmas 2007 Florence from Florida |

| Comments: | My family has been in and around South Alabama/North West Florida for hundreds of years, (on the Indian side) and since the early 1800's on the Scotch side. My indian family descends through my grandmother, Vera Presley Parker, who established her lineage for "The Indian Money" in the 1950's. My Barlow name and my maternal name, Presley, arrived on a ship from Northern Ireland on one of "Reverand Martin's" five ship loads to Charleston, S.C. in the 1700's. Several rosters show a "Barlow" amongst the casualties at Fort Mims. I have long speculated that I had relatives attacking the Fort and inside the Fort, as I am sure many others in South Alabama have. Any information on the Parker, Barlow, Jernigan, Joiner/Joyner, family lines in South Alabama/NW Florida, please correspond at my email.

| Comments: | I am looking for information about M.L.Weatherford, I am told that the M. stands for Mariah and that her father was Charles Weatherford born 1795 in Alabama and her mother was Elizabeth Stiggins born 1806 in Alabama. Mariah was born 1835 in Alabama. She married Stephen S. Jones in Alabama. They are my gg-grandparents. My grandmother has always told me that we were of Native American Blood, and I am trying to trace it back in her memory. She looked like she was Native American, with dark skin, dark hair, dark eyes, and high cheek bones. I have the same, I have been told that I look like my grandmother when she was younger. My mother takes after her fathers side, he was Native American and German, Irish, and Englishman. I would love to be in contact with someone from this line. Looking to communicate with someone from this line of Weatherfords.
Thanks so much, Carolyn This is a great site, I have really enjoyed reading the information here. |

| Comments: | My name is True. I was born in 1977 In the town Hot springs, Arkansas. As of today I am a fourth generation gold smith. This skill was passed down to me from my father (Timothy Lee Tilley) and to him from his father(Clyde Walter Tilley) and to him from his uncle, who's name at this time i cannot (unfortunatly) remember.
My mother poseses a signifacant amount of cherokee blood. Her birth name was Lorry Ann Montgumery. No history is known about those origns because beings native at the time of her father (Walter Clyde Montgumery) was still looked down apon. For being a half bread, he went into the navy at a vary early age and spent 26 years in service. He became head enganire on the naval vessel USS Hornet, were he then recived a leter from the presidant and I belive a medal of honor. He had been away on leave, when his ship was scedualed to pick up an appollo space capsul. The uss hornet broke down and was predicted 2 weeks behind pick up time. They flew via hellocopter back to his station were proceeded to fix and get the ship their befor the capsul landed. Anyways back to the subject at hand. My parents split up when I was three and I eventually ended up in the coastal mountain ranges of northern Cal, and southern Org. Nothing has ever been handed to me. I have always worked for what I have. Even my trade, wich I am stiil learning. I would however like to know more about my past. I do know that my grandfather Tilley's father was one of the last land holders of the Weatherford heritage in Sand Mountian, Alabama. Now only a couple of acres are left with the Tilley house on it, were familly reunions are held. Being I'm eternally busy at these times. I would find any information on this subject of familly history very rewarding. My alternate E-Mail: truelight1@yahoo.com |

| Comments: | I am researching my connection to Chief William McIntosh thru the Mitchell line. David Brydie Mitchell served a Georgia governor for three terms. His son William Mitchell married Jane, the chief's daughter. Here I have problems. I have many stories passed down that Wm & Jane had children but I cannot find proof. There is even a website about McIntosh in where the author is adamant that they did not have children. He actually calls a relative of mine a liar. Anyway, my family stories say that William and Jane had 3 children. William, Jr. married Cynthia Brannon, one of their daughter's, Martha, married ? (William or maybe George)Burdick. Martha and ? Burdick had two children. My grandmother was their daughter. Her name was Annie Elizabeth Burdick. She married Gillis Bracewell and they had 11 children. Anyone recognize anything? Please feel free to contact me about any of this. |

| Comments: | Husband's name was James Thomas Carr, deceased, but our children are interested in their Creek heritage. They grew up listening to their grandfather, Cherry Wood Carr count to 10 in Creek and tell about his ancestor who was an Indian agent and interpreter that lived in Russell Co., Alabama. He was left in this country as a child by his father, who returned to Cork, Ireland, but had been here as a trader. The older generation disavowed a Creek heritage, but admitted to having a grandmother who was Indian from N.Carolina. Possibly because the treaty signed just prior to the Trail of Tears stated that if an Indian owned property and remained here, then this property could be confiscated. This treaty agreement was not repealed until 1993. We can trace linnage to James Jasper Carr, born in May of 1838 in Pike County, Alabama, now Barbour Co. No amount of research can unearth the name of his parents, yet he served in the War Between the States. This was Cherry Wood's grandfather. He married Martha Danner. Spoke with the daughter of his youngest son who reported it was well known they were Creeks. Another grandson became the famous artist, Asa Battles and in his obit it notes he was descended from Creeks. Does anyone have information regarding the ancestors of James Jasper Carr. All circumstantial evidences point to the father having been Paddy Carr, who contrary to what has been printed, did return from the "Arkansa" territory and lived and died in Russell Co. around Ft. Mitchell. I have a rare book of this county that provides information, based upon assistance from the State Director of the Archives & History plus first hand interviews of those alive who knew him. It was reported by a very old family near this area whose oral history revealed Paddy Carr had a baby born just before he left for Oklahoma and was too young to make the trip. He remained with this family for several years until Paddy Carr returned. He had 3 wives, two went west, but there is no record of the what happened to the 3rd wife. Cherry Wood Carr recalled hearing his father talk about 2 aunts by the name of Adi and Adne, the name of Paddy Carr's twin daughters by 2nd wife, Jane McIntosh Hawkins. |

GREETINGS, TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN . I am a 72 year old American citizen , since I was a young child I have been told by the elders in my family that myself and my siblings were of forth blood native Indian . I can recall seeing pictures and Indian objects in my grand parents home that depicted a Indian nation . At the time they were of little importance to me but now they have become very important since I am now trying to locate my Indian ancestry . After two years of research I have found information that I am of the CREEK BLOODLINE . The path has led me to MARY JANE HOVIS ,.. we believe she was born Mary Jane Cheotah between 1840 and 1845, her father was Ruben Cheotah , there is no record of her mother . We also believe that Mary Jane was orphaned at a very early age and was sent to Pennsylvania as a domestic servant . She returned to North Carolina where she married Jessie Wilson , later she married Willis F. Hovis who brought forth four off spring one of whom became my grand father, William Francis Hovis who then settled in Maryland . Mary Jane was accepted into the Creek nation in 1906 as full blood creek and is listed in the Dawes rolls ., she died in 1918 in Oklahoma . This might sound a little strange to you but as far back as I can recall I have always had a kindred love for the native American peoples . When the opportunity presented itself I would visit historical Indian sites . I would always get the feeling that I belonged there and was a part of that history . I have adopted the theory that the spirits and gods of the native American blood I carry is speaking to me and I am sure of it , no one could ever change my mind . Although I would be extremely honored I am sure that I could not provide the required information that would indicate that I were a proven member of the creek nation , however , I would be honored if I were to be able to obtain some sort of card , document or other means that would indicate that I and my children did in fact carry creek blood within our veins .we are 99.9 % sure this is the case... We would be honored beyond words and description. Could you , would you be able to direct me to a person or a organization where I might obtain this confirmation . Thank you in advance for your kind attention and any assistance you might provide . SINCERELY : RONALD F. | Comments: | Great Dreambook: I was surprised to find my name and writing in this dreambook. don't know how you got permission to use all of the searches of the persons I just read about. My connection is to William Chief Red Eagle Weatherford, who was the son of Charles A. Weatherford....and the story goes on. My great grandfather Lewis Edwin Weatherford connects me and my siblings to Red Eagle. We are so far removed that I have had a difficult time connecting us directly to Red Eagle. A few missing lengths. I shall put it together someday - always need help from someone who knows.....? tell me how you got this ionformation on the Google search?
Thank You, Wanda Lou Killpatrick-Slack |
