I was born in Pulaski, Tenn. many years ago. Currently, I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. Yes, I am a Latter Day Saint now. Don't believe the bad press. That is all it is, merely sour grapes & ill wishes. The reality is even more glorius & magnificient than your site, and that is no reflection on you at all.

For the past 5 years, I have been actively researching the Laurents and a number of early family names in the history of Mobile, all of whom marry into my family tree: Chastang, Chaudron, Eslava, D'Olive, Baudin, Laurendine, Nicholas, Weekes, to name a few. The book "Colonial Mobile" mentions the plantation of my ancestor, Bartholomé Laurent/Lorant. Thanks for the interesting perspective on history.

Leon's great, great, greatfather was Simon Chaudron, who was a gifted silversmith in Mobile, Al. His work has been displayed at the Mobile Museum of Art during the French Connection, which was a celebration of the Chaudron family.
He was a settler for a time in Demopolis before going further south. Also, a beautiful silver tea service is on display at the Fort Conde'-Charlotte House as well as some flatware at Oakleigh.None of our history shows that he was ever a vegetable cart driver.

We do thank you for the beautiful Dreambook and hope this might correct some of the in formation.

J.S. Chaudron was never a vegetable cart driver! As a
decendant and holder of many family papers I am positive of
it. I am not sure where you came by this information but he
was a watch-smith and writer in Mobile. He also was blinded
by cataracts and could not drive himself. Please correct
this misconception and let me know where you found this
amazing story? He also did spend time in the vine and olive
colony.

Comments:Hello folks,
This might sound real odd, but I have been doing an
exhaustive family tree search, and when it came time to
find the MEALER link to Germany... I wound up with a Welsh
link instead. I also wound up here at the Prince Madoc
story. The Mealer's are from Georgia and Alabama but there
is no trace out of America. It also turns out that a few
of the Mealer men had offspring with many Cherokees and
such way back then... My older family members on my dad's
side have always "joked" about Mealers helping the Pilgrims
off the boats. Maybe they were right.
Any serious info that anyone has would be greatly
appreciated.
