I first when to Palma De Mallorca with my mother and my sister in either 1980 or 1981, I would have been around 7 or 8. The first thing I remember about the flight was the strange triangle windows with rounded edges. It was a night flight and the turbulance was horrendous. Until now I somehow thought that the plane was a Spantax plane but after searching the net I have came to realise (after my memoy has been jogged) that it was a Transeuropa flight. It would have been around july/august time. I still remember the feeling of hitting the air pockets, I still remember crying with the pain in my ears and being sick once the plane finally touched down.i wonder what plane it was that flew from Glasgow International Airport, Scotland, UK to Mallorca that night. Any thoughts as to which plance it could have been? Martin |

I called it a "Carabel" and always marveled at its sleek/ steep take-offs. These new monstrosities just can't compete!

| Comments: | I flew on an Iberia Caravelle from London Heathrow to Ibiza during September 1972.
I am not sure what type it was, but I do remember that the engine noise seemed to get quieter with higher revs per minute while getting ready for take off. On landing at Ibiza, there was no reverse thrust at all from the engines to assist braking, and on disembarking the aircraft, I noticed that an off - board generator was used to keep power things working on the this aircraft instead of the now familiar APU that powers modern jets while on the ground. Love the pictures, they certainly brought back memories. Keep up the good work. Paul Fox. |

| Comments: | I have enjoyed visiting your excellent web site and was particularly happy to see the photo of Caravelle c/n 241. If I may give a little correction to the information given, this aircraft was delivered initially to LHR for initial planning work to convert the aircraft interior for VIP use by the late President Tito of Jugoslavia. As a matter of fact I thought it was a type VI R not N as stated. After a few weeks at LHR, it was repositioned to East Midlands Airport here in UK, where the conversion and VIP interior was designed and installed. Later in 1969, it was collected by the operator JAT who would operate it on behalf of the Jugoslav Air Force. I was Chief Planning Engineer for the project and was made responsibnle for the final Quality Control inspection of the finished aircraft. |

Under the search engine you list the airline FEAT (Far Eastern Air Transport) as in China, this airline is an Taiwan based airline. My brother used to work on Caravelle, it was a nice aircraft, and it was the first european jetliner flown by Taiwanese airlines as well. However,shrotly after the disaster your article metioned, both British build Viscount and SUD caravelles were withdrawn from the service, replaced by B737-200 (both China Airlines and FAT or FEAT as your list). It was until early 80's when China Airlines purchased their first Airbus 300, we saw European jets came back to the Taiwan sky.
