My family has been in Nyc and moved to brooklyn in the early 1900's. grandparents are Americo and Theresa Mangano and they had 5 boys and 2 girls. My dad's name is Ronald Mangano and he is the youngest My grandfather is Americo Mangano, he served in the navy in ww2 and had 2 brothers salvatore and lincoln , both whom which im sure were in the service. I have been searching my family ancestry for my English Final and I just found out that my great-grandmother's maiden name was Mangano. Her name is Francesca Mangano and she was born in Villasmundo/Siracusa, Sicily. Her father (I might spell the first name wrong) Vinceizo Mangano put her on board the S.S. Luisiana back in 1913. My great Nanna was born in 1894 and was 19 when she left Sicily for America. She married my great Nonno, Joseph Zocco and they had 5 children, James Zocco, Salvatore Zocco, Concetta Zocco, Carmela Zocco and my Nanna, Lucy Zocco. My Nanna married my Nonno, Rosario Lucca. I have been trying to find out who all I might be related to and I have been searching all over the internet. If anyone has any information or if you know my great Nanna and her family, please contact me. I am a very family oriented person and would love to meet anyone who is a Mangano.

His family lived at La parte alta di Via San Antonio. The road into the town on the hill is lined with ancient twisted olive trees that look so romantic on summer evenings! | Comments: | My grandmother was born Carmela Mangano in Chicago around 1900. She had a brother Nick. That is about all I know.
Her records were destroyed in the big fire. My grandfather William Clyde Moody never talked about her family, in fact she had changed her maiden name to Mildred Mangan in an effort to distance herself from her family. My father and his only sibling have recently passed and so I have very little info other than her family was from Palermo Sicily and that some of her relatives moved from Chicago to Southern California, possibly Los Angeles. Any info would be welcomed by my sister and I. As I stated we were never told much about my grandmothers family. |

| Comments: | My grandmother AKA: Na Na name was Mary Ann Mangano. Sister to New York Mafia Family Vincent and Philip Mangano. (1931-1951) Also she had a sister my great aunt Aurora. The family was born in Palermo,Sicily to Thomas and Joanna Mangano. The family that me and my sister joanna were named after. I grew up hearing stories about Vincent and Philip. But not about the mafia but about the funny thing that happen between ny Na Na and her brothers (Vincent and Philip.) My Na Na told me a story about how Vincent and Philip love to eat the italian pastery, and they never would leave her any. So, one time she filled the pastery with paste and dipped the ends with the sprinkles as she would call it. Na Na said the look on Vincent and Plilip face was the best revenge ever. She also told me about the time she met "Al Capone" when she was a young girl. Her exact words were "I never trust him." Al was at her home to meet with her father Thomas Mangano who was in the Sicilian Mafia some time from the 1890's to the early 1920's. That's when the Mangano family moved to New York, where Thomas Mangano started a small portable stand on the corner to support his family(Vincent,Philip,Aurora,and Maria.) But it didn't take long to get back into what he knew.(The Mafia) Which is how Vincent and Philip got involved in running the Gabino Family as well being part of Murder Inc.... That's just some of the things I heard about as a child in the Mangano family. |

Please pass the word that when researching our family, you can gain a lot of knowledge of when or if they came through Ellis Island. As far as I know he has/had brothers named Enzo and Luciano. My dad is Giuseppe (Joseph)born in Palermo in 1949. They lived in Gilroy, CA where they raised their 3 daughters: Barbara, Gloria, and Betty. Unfortunatly, the 3 daughters did not keep records or there were none.
