| Comments: | Well after a very long absence, i finally found my way back to this web site. Archie, you are to be commended for the great job you've done!
Reference enquiries about the "Jimmy" design, with "260 Siganal Squadron (SAM)" below it, i was asked to draw it up for the "PORTADOWN" Steins, and the ribbon below was added to give the design that little personal touch for the Squadron. If my memory serves me right, it was drawn after the Tour of N.I. Unfortunatley, i don't know what happened to the original, which was probably in A5 format! If the Company who produced the Steins for us, still exists, they may still have a copy (or the copy), in their archives. Will be making further contact soon, Best Regards, John. |

| Comments: | I was directed to the site by Roy Andrews, it was not on my list of Signals sites. I am an ex 12 Air Formation 21 Signal Regiment 1958-62 now part of of a club dedicated to finding old mates called OLD 21 SIGS Mates. There are 9 of us at the present who served at Laarbruch, due to the calls I have been getting since the latest teletex message I have put a contact page on my PC for the other camps so I can pass on information.
There must be many ex Signals out there who don't have PCs and are trying to find old mates, so it's up to us computer freaks to direct them to magazines, radio and tv programs or whatever. we have the world at our fingertips. | Comments: | Terrific site, which I stumbled on almost accidentally. It seems most of the guys on here were before or after my time. I started in Duisburg in 1966, then went to Dortmund, before coming over to Shoeburyness. Left 260 Sqn. in 1970.
There seems to be a big gap in your contacts covering this period, although I did see a picture on the reunion page of Sid Soqo, who I knew, who joined us when we were at Shoebury. Reading the comments of your other contributors though it doesn't seem as if the bahaviour differed either before, or after, my time with Squadron. |

| Comments: | You get back late from the gold course to find out that sone blast from ythe past chap called, wait for it, Archie, has rung your wife. Now, she's suffering from frozen tongue and suspicious that this Archie character is planning a weekend end away with booze. She thrusts a grimey piece of paper in yer hand and says "I'm going to bed. Your dinner is in the dustbin, if you know where its kept"
This, of course, gives me time to fire up this infernal machine and say:- Hello like the site. Where's the bar? |

| Comments: | Hi everyone, I can't believe I have seen so many names that remember. I was with 260 from 72 till we disbanded, I have also been in contact with Danny Hennon, who was with 260 about the same sort of time.
We missed out on this years reunion, but I am sure both myself and Danny will make 2003 reunion. The longer I look through this site, the more I find myself drifting back to the 70's. Hope to speak to some fo you guys soon.Chris |

No wonder I'm mental!!!Nice to see so many familiar names. I am too late for this years Re-Union, but will definately make 2003, the 30th anniversary of Op Banner in Belfast, the first time the The Royal Signals had been deploy in a purely Infantry role. See you all in 2003. Cheers, and good luck. Rod |

| Comments: | Believe it or not, I haven't thought of 260 for years, but today I was talking to a friend about old times, which prompted me to actually pick up my presentation beer mug from 'W' Troop on disbandment in September 1977 just for a reminder (not to use!) and I thought I'd do a search for "Royal Signals Association" and the 260 Signal Squadron (SAM) site was first on the list.
I'll keep in contact - if anyone remembers me ('75 to '77) or my brother Gerry, also 'W' Troop about '73 to '75 ? - that's it for now as I haven't even seen a half of the site so I want to get on and check it out; all the best 'till then - now where is that presentation mug? may as well use it now it's out!!!!! |
