Comments:I just wanted to send my deepest sympathy to Michelle's family. She seems to be a very caring and respectful young woman that knew what she was going to do with her life and only improve the world in which we all share.
Even though I never knew Michelle in life, I have come to know her through her very sad and impactable story.
I feel that the world is an emptier place without Michelle in it. I have no doubt that she would have accomplished every one of her goals that she had set forth for herself.
I have lost my father and brother, so I know how completely empty and void the world can feel after death. The best things you can do is keep her alive, just like you have so that other people, such as myself, can come to know a truely beautiful human being.
Thank you for the opportunity for signing her book.
Love in Christ,
Cindie

Comments:My condolances to Michelle's Family and friends. Though I didn't know her personally I feel that I have been allowed into her world through the news here in Vermont and on the internet. I too am living life without one of my children. Although his passing was not of such a violent nature, it has still changed my life forever. May your family thrive knowing that your beautiful daughter, sister, and friend will be watching over you forever.

RIP Michelle and watch over my beautiful son Logan.

Comments:Beautiful website. My thoughts and prayers are with your family throughout this trial and as we move forward. Michelle was a virbtant, tender soul and led the life she wanted while she was here with us. I remember her always being an upstanding person, and I see she accomplished a lot since high school. Her memory will never die,a nd she has touched many more individuals than just people in Arlington or Vermont who knew her.
I want you guys to know that you will see her again, and she is never very far.

Comments:Always remember the special person Michelle was. Her light will always shine on in your hearts. Her tender life was
cut so short, much too soon. I am a parent myself and I can't imagine what it is like to lose a child. I believe that her spirit will always be with you. Her beautiful smile the sunshine of your life. Take care and hold time to the wonderful memories you have. She is safe in the hands of God.

Comments:I miss her terribly. please give her parents and family all your prayers for this trial that lies ahead. However hard it is to deal with Michelle's horrible murder, facing Rooney is just another injustice heaped on a family that has already gone through so much.

No one should be able to take away a woman as beautiful inside and out as Michelle, and if they do, justice must be served. Had he be stopped much earlier as he should have instead of getting away with horrendous crimes, she would not be dead today. People of Vermont, all people who love their family and cant imagine this happening to them, keep her family strong during the trial in May in Rutland or let them grieve, whatever it takes, through your prayers, meditation, love in your heart and doing acts of unconditional kindness as Michelle did her whole life. She helped so many and so loved, its the least we can do. It cant bring her back but no one with a record like that should be able to ......

Comments:Michelle lived on my floor last year. I never had the chance to say more than hello in the few short weeks that we lived 10 feet from each other. I'm sad that all I'll know of her is that picture that hung on the wall of the hallway with the word "missing" on it. Even though I didn't know you, I'll never forget who you are as long as I live. It is definitely a strange feeling. Thanks to the people who set up this website and her foundation. It is nice to know that people around the country who have no connection to this are still so caring and supportive. Rest in peace, Michelle

Comments:There was always something special about her, about her beautiful eyes, she was so friendly and fun. I will really miss her. At least people are making a positive difference on her behalf, and that is what she would have wanted. Because of her I'm going to try much harder to be a better person, especially to our environment. We all love and miss you, Michelle.

Comments:I followed this story from across the country. I don't remember how I first learned of it, maybe it was the name resembelance that caught my eye. From the beginning, the power of her soul through her eyes in the pictures drew me in and kept me concerned. As I heard more of her disapearance I thought this can't be, nothing awful can happen here, not to her. And I hoped- that she would be ok, that she would be found ok. Then I remember feeling suspicious, of that man and his lies. Then I was sad and have stayed that way in the back of my mind, in the corner of my heart somewhere since. And then I was mad at how someone could do something so awful to such a spark, such a flower. Mad at the potential lost, the life not lived. And then I felt alone with all those emotions, just someone on the other side of the country reading news stories every day till they sputtered out, but always remembering. Now look, I return, tugged by the memory that continues to linger and I see that her energy, her life force has been spinning out- creating, morphing, growing. A positive, she perseveres as hope, as energy eternal . . . I didn't even know you, I'm glad there is this positive, but I miss you, miss not having you in the place you were supposed to be where I never would have known of you but where you would just be doing your good, your thing. I just wanted to join the community of people connected to you. It's nice not to feel so alone with your loss.

Comments:I never met Michelle but I am connected to her through our shared love and passion towards the preservation of the earth and it's inhabitants. I'm heartbroken that such an intelligent, thoughtful, compassionate woman who was on the road to becoming a powerful voice and activist was taken from us. Why does it always seem to be the kindred spirits who are taken - or does it seem that way because there just are a lot of kindred spirits here? I hope that is case. In Michelle's case I don't have hope that is the case - I know it is.

Comments:Dearest Michelle,

When you went missing, I couldn't stop thinking about you; I just knew it was something bad. When I was your age, I too studied abroad in Costa Rica, travelled through Central America and Mexico and later found myself working in South America.

Nine years passed and I found myself back in Costa Rica - it was 2004 and I had found a temporary teaching position. Long-story-short, I was violently assaulted by our community counterpart; today this man sits in prison. I fought for justice and I won. Now one less rapist is off the streets.

Oh how I wish that the women Brian Rooney had victimized in the past had come forward; however, we know all too well the pain and fear that accompanies sexual abuse and we cannot judge their reasons why. I am sorry that it is because of the end of your bright light, this man will spend his life in jail. I wish we could have spared you.

Your nosering, hazel eyes and passion for the remind me of my very own; as your sister, I will keep fighting for you in this life and see you in the next one.

with love,
m
