Comments:Thanks for keeping your journal. It really helped me with my accutane treatment back in 2004. I've been 99.9% clear since my last pill.

I was on 80mg/day so the side effects really sucked. But it was worth it.

Thanks again.

Comments:hey,
I read your journal and was very happy to hear how well it worked for you. I have been on accutane for 2 weeks only and already have seen major major improvements. Yeah its drying and all, but so worth it!!!! I am on 60mg daily. Seems to be just fine. No new nodules. Oh I just wanted to say that on day 3 is when I got my initial breakout and it was scary. I hid in the house for 4 days. Then it just as fast disappeared. I am the most grateful person in the world for this medicine!!!! THanks for your blog!!!

Comments:Thanks for sharing your journal with those of us who are preparing to use Accutane. I'm 50 years old and have been plagued by acne my entire teenage-adult life. I've tried all things topical and the most helpful has been retin-A micro. I imagine that taking it internally has got to be a big help. I do tend to pick, so I'm glad you warned me about how fragile your skin was. I really appreciated hearing how you did with it over time.

Comments:I am 36 & in my third month of Accutane 40 and it is the best thing that ever could have happened to me. My oily skin and hair have been gone since the second week. I have to lotion my hands some and wear lip gloss 24/7 but it could never be as bad as spending atleast an hour a day with my face. I'm not scared to show my body now, to take a shower with my husband or go without make up. I skip a day washing my long hair (whew), I wake up with NO oil on my face at all. It took the second month before my back and chest cleared but it did. I have minor little breakouts like tiny pores that clog and heal in about 2-3 days. I never had another big bad knot come up. I can wear makeup or not. My friend I hadn't seen in 4-5 months saw me last week and when I put on gloss I explained that I was on Accutane and it made them dry. She said she noticed how my skin looked like porcelain and I looked like a brunette Marcia Hauffman. Wow. When I put on make up it looks like I just applied it even 10 o clock that night when I get ready to wash up for bed.
I always said if I could change one thing about my body it wouldn't be weight, my big nose or my size A's, it would be my skin and they don't do "skin jobs". Guess what, Accutane gave me my dream.
I weighed my risks and wish I did it 15 years ago.

Her acne has been awful for a few years now, and she too has been on a number of meds with accutane as a last resort. She is a sophmore at RIT and mentioned that she wishes there was someone she could communicate with who is also on Accutane. If you would be so kind as to drop her a line of encouragement, her email address at Rochester Institute of Technology is - mmg0310@rit.edu. Comments:PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING ACCUTANE.

I am a 15-year-old girl and by orders of the doctor, stopped taking my accutane pills a week ago. I was only on it for a month and a half (and a relatively small dose at that--40 mg) and everything was going fine and dandy until around the fourth week. I started getting severe stomach cramps and abnormal bowel movements. After further research, the doctors found that accutane had caused internal organ damage and I needed to stop the drug immediately. Thankfully, the damage wasn't so far along that it couldn't be reversed, but I am left with acne and now have IBS to top it off. So please consider the seriousness of this drug and what it can do to your body before you take it. (If you don't have severe nodular acne--I don't and probably shouldn't have been on this--then it is in your best interest not to get involved with something this intense.) If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email me. --Rachel

Comments:Hey, I just wanted to share my experience with accutane. I was soo scared to go on it but after reading this guestbook 10 months ago, I felt better. Basically, there are side effects to this pill, mainly the dry lips, boogery nose (eew!), and it acutally inflamed my liver...yah that was not good, but it returned to normal after I was put back on the lower dosage. So I took accutane for a little longer than some, but at a lower dosage so that I didn't feel overwhelmed, especially during my junior year of high school (in retrospect I wish I had done it earlier, for school and for my self-esteem). I think accutane is the best option for you if you are really unhappy with your skin, I've been off for a month and my face is flawless :) but you should be aware of the side effects...it's kind of like, have you tried everything else? and if u have, accutane may be the right choice. good luck to all, im glad you guys were here to support me during my 7 months, and please feel free to email me with any questions you have have about this powerful, but beneficial drug :)

I no longer can take accutane for health reasons and so am stuck with about $1000 worth of pills, for which i paid for since i dont have insurance. These are real (original accutane not generic) and has my prescription on it. They have the protective seal. I have about a little more than 90 Accutane left (40 mg). If you have a
prescription and are seeing a doctor send me an email and you can buy
my leftover pills. I am selling it for $75.00 per packet.

please email me at bluemooninternational@yahoo.com

PS please dont reply hate messages to this post. I spent a fortune buying these pills and know how expensive these are.. so im an accutane user trying to help another accutane user out.

All the best with the Roaccutane. It is a wonderful form

I out to know...I've had **four** courses over the last 5-6

doesn't seem to last once I've been off it after three
months.

I finished my last (fourth) course 2.5 months ago...it'll
be an interesting next few weeks and months.

*Sigh*.

may the force be with you...
take strength and never give up!!!
I am now 38 and have had acne since puberty. Two weeks
ago I went to see a dermitologist for the first time (!)
and today I have a prescription for Accutane. Why did I
wait so long? Because I didn't know there was any hope?
No, not really, I somehow knew there must be something.
Maybe because I came out of childhood as a young adult so
screwed up that I believed I was a worthless piece of shit?
That acne was some sort of punishment? And it took me 25
years to learn differently...now I am somewhat
apprehensive...all the warnings about side-effects...but
there is no going back!

Comments:Hi Megan,

I want to send you words of encouragment.

I had terrible acne as a teenager and young adult. It was
so bad I would often avoid going out in public. I didn't
date until I was 18 and even then I had no self confidence
about my appearance.

I went on Accutane in my mid 20's. I wish I had done it
years earlier. Accutane cleared up my acne, shrunk my
pores and reduced my oil production to a normal level. I
am forever grateful for this drug. It changed my life.
Being a recluse because of my acne made me a book person
and a good student which helped me career wise, while
Accutane opened up my social life and gave me the self
esteem I needed to interchange with the world and life.
Today people can't believe that I was shy and not very
popular as a teenager.

I am now 36, but I still remember how limited my life was
before Accutane and how much I used to cry over my acne,
lumpy face and scars.

I had no side effects from taking Accutane other than
severe dryness the first three weeks until my body got used
to the change. I recommend drinking a lot of water and
using Lubriderm as a moisturizer (gentle, cheap and hyper-
allergenic). Other than that don't get pregnant and do the
monthly blood lipid tests. You should be fine and within
an month or so you should see results, results that will be
permanent.

And BTW, you definitely should not be drinking alcohol
while on Accutane. Accutane stresses the liver functions.
As a result any alcohol you drink is magnified and really
does a number on your system. Do not drink. As the
Accutane levels build in your system so will
your "hangovers" from drinking.

Good-luck.

Comments:Hi Megan! I found your site through your usenet post and think
it is great you're keeping that journal. I'm currently on
Retin-A myself, and while it appears to work quite well in
my neck area (still 6 weeks to go, though), it doesn't do
anything for my back acne, which, through the years, has caused
lots of permanent scarring *sigh*). I think I'll try to get on
Accutane soon -- hell, it's probably the only option I have left. If only it weren't so darn expensive. :(
This journal is an interesting read and I'll be sure to check back for updates.
I wish you all the luck. Norman
