I am looking for the whereabouts of Simon Farnum, Dennis Doyle and Walter Ivey-classmates of mine at Kubasaki High School from 1963 to 1967 and fellow karate classmates of mine at either Shilling Community Center on Kadena Airbase(Shorinjiryu under Fusie Kise Sensei), at Machinato Okinawan Kempo Dojo under Seiyu Oyata Sensei or at the Futema Uechiryu Dojo under Kanei Uechi O'Sensei. I lived in Okinawa from 1955 to 1967 I studied Jujitsu from 1955 to 1960. Previously to this I lived in Kumamoto(Camp Wood) in Kyushu, Japan from 1951 to 1955 where I began Judo in 1951 at age 31/2 years old. Began Shorinji in 1960 under Fusie Kise Sensei, Okinawan Kempo under Seiyu Oyata Sensei in 1962 and in the same year Uechiryu under Kanei Uechi O'Sensei and also studied under Hohan Soken O'Sensei Matsumura Seito at Shilling Community Center on Kadena Airbase and at his home in Nishihara. Would very much like to get in touch with any students that trained with me at these various dojos. This will be my 3rd tour to Okinawa we are due for arrival Sept. 2005. I was always in a hurry to get back stateside when I was there. But when I get back stateside I am ready to go back. The security concerning my children is great. I never worried about my kids being harmed. They were free to roam wherever, and go to the bathroom by themselves. We are looking forward to coming back.

I left a son to be adopted by an air force couple to be brought to a better hosp in Hawaii. 1981. Donald James Miyagi was his name and have searched for him to no end,he was born handicapped they call it now and needed so much more than what Kuwaii hosp could do. Never have been able to find out any thing . Kimiko Miyagi was the mother and would like to hear from her as well very much. Last address we had 66 bunch Agedo Okinawa Japan. Any help or suggestions would be so valued . I have posted some on adoption forums to no avail,as well as a couple of military sites. Posting here seemed to be a good idea . I thank you for a good site ,and have a few more details of the time in 81 I had with my son. I want to return very much to Okinawa. and probably would stay if finances allowed. Thanks Bobby |

| Comments: | Born in 1965 at Naha Air Force Base, where my mother Hiroko Gabe married my father Thomas Russell. Since I departed as a toddler I visited relatives once in 1979...I was 14 years old and the memory of how Ifelt truly at home will never leave me. My mother died in December 2000, the youngest of 6 daughters...she was the first to pass on.
Although, I have many relatives in Okinawa and many abroad, I have always felt slightly hesitant on contacting them...I am sure they would like to hear from me. As my mother had made it back several times to Naha. Wondering if anyone else is in the same situation as me? Mike |

| Comments: | I was in Okinawa in 1965-66, studied for about two weeks with Master Oyata, however, flying and my duties prohibited me to continue to go to him. I ended up at the rec. center at Kadena AB under Master Kise and later Hohan Soken. Although Master Kise, was at that time, primarily Shorinji, we also were taught Shorin from Hohan Soken. I chose to stay Shorinji and have maintained same to present day. Sensei Roy Osborn and I were there at the same time, he was a kid of 16 and I was a few years older. I wish I could go back and recover those daye and times, what I would not do differently. My best wishes to Master Oyata and to all of you, his students and future. |
