| Comments: | Enjoyed reading up on the China 1 Kuan note from the Ming Dynasty, I bought one of these recently in an auction and am astounded with the age and size of it. It is remarkable that at least this one group of money survived all that while, even though there are records of extensive use of paper money back 1700 years, no earlier examples have yet turned up. |

I have been collecting and following the same path as you starting with notes friends brought back from vacations and etc. I stuck with the low value notes and progressed upward. My goal was like yours, at leat ONE note from every counrty. I made that goal and am looking to expand my collection to more valuable notes, and increase the number of notes from each country. I am an IBNS member and speak at local schools on World currency.

You have a great site and an amazing collection. I discovered your site a few days ago and I must confess that it made me a bit frustrated. My collection covers ~240 countries and I thought that it is an extensive collection..... until I saw yours. Your collection is astonishing not only because of the large number of countries it covers but also for the high graded banknotes. The Zanzibar banknote is one of my favorite wanted banknotes. One small comment: in your country index page ( http://tomchao.com/country.html ) "Czechoslovakia" is misspelled as "Czechoslavia*" . And one question: Why didn't you include Spitzbergen in your country index? (appers on p.1022 of Pick catalog, volume II, 10th edition) |
