What was it about Revelation 20:4 that you can't see? and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. BUT THE REST OF THE DEAD LIVED NOT AGAIN UNTIL AFTER THE THOUSAND YEARS WERE FINISHED. I was a little disapointed, however, in the newsletter, because it hasn't been updated for over a year! Also, putting an exact date on the rapture doesn't agree with me too much...it seems you change it each year because it doesn't happen that year. That opens this site up to critiscism. However, I think we are pretty safe in saying it will likely happen within the next 30 years ("this generation will not pass away until all these things have come to pass" - the generation that saw Israel become a nation again.). scripture, Thank you! My knowledge of scripture is obviously much less extensive than yours, but I have found some other interpretations that also have merit. One point in particular is that the verse 1Thessalonians 5:9:"For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ....", does not necessarily say that Christians will be raptured prior to the Great Tribulation. This verse does say that we are not appointed to suffer the wrath of God, but this does not mean that we are not appointed to suffer the persecution of men! On the contrary, Jesus specifically stated that we will suffer torture unto death, just as he did! "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service." (John 15:20,21, 16:1,2) I think that the key to "rightly dividing" this issue may be to make the proper distinction between the "persecution of men" which happens during the Tribulation, and the "day of God’s wrath" which is poured out on the wicked after the saints of God are removed. We are NOT "appointed to wrath", but we may be appointed to the persecution of men, just as our Master was; and this may be the essence of the Great Tribulation. So rejoice! We have such a glory to look forward to! Even if we have to face the persecution of men during the Great Tribulation, we will not face the wrath of God. On the contrary, "if indeed we suffer with Him...we may also be glorified together"! (Romans 8:17) Credit for this interpretation goes to David at www.beastwatch.com. Don't go there if you have a tendency to get depressed. I really don't think things are as bad as he seems to believe, but I have been wrong before. |
