Chris, I remember when you came to the 18th at McGuire. I enjoyed flying with you back then, I think I just made 1st engineer when you came on board. It's funny that you are at Dover now, I started there as a crew chief. It sounds like it is as bad now as it was then! Everybody from the top down would go out of their way to say "NO" to everything. I could not get out of there fast enough! I know it's been a long long time, but I hope you still remember me!

Hey Chris, Dave down here in Charleston. I would have guess you would have been retired by now. When I came back to Charleston after leaving McChord, I realized how much "not fun" it had gotten, but I did miss some of the people. Let me know how your doing..Dave

Hello Chris. I've been looking through your site and I really enjoyed it. I really like the box nasties, becasue I can relate to them. I was a loadmaster for 20+ years. I came from Viet Nam in 68 and I was in the 76th MAS on C-141s at Charleston AFB, SC and went to the 3rd on C-5s in 70. We moved to Dover in 73. I was in the ALCE at Ft. Campbell, Ky. from 78 - 84, and then I went back to Dover. I finished up my 26 years in 89 with the 3rd. I retired and came back to Campbell, and taught aircraft loadplanning until 03. Contractors took over most of the jobs on post, but I was lucky enough to land a computer job, so here I am. I have really enjoyed working for and with the Army. I plan to hang in there until I get tired of working, and then I'll retire again. Keep up the good work, and God bless, until later...

Chris, GREAT PAGE!!! You worked for me at McGuire when you had you stay with us on the MX side until you put SRA back on and went back to flying. I see you're doing the C-5 thing. Nice. Do you or did you know a guy named Ken Bernhardy? He was an FE there for a while and came out of AWACS. He was on my crew before he cross trained. Drop a line if you get a chance and we'll try to catch up.

I was a flight engineer on the C-141A for almost 10 years. I was in the 4th MAS, McChord AFB, WA from 1967-1972 and in the 86th MAS, Travis AFB, CA from 1974-1978 with a little break in 1972-1973 for duty at NKP flying AC-119K's. I retired from active duty in April 1978 having logged over 7,000 hrs in the C-141A. A beatiful aircraft and a great job to have! Very nice website. Best of luck!

Chris,
Enjoyed the site. Was an LE at Mildenhall in '82 & 83. Liked the bit about the box nasties. Mickey's would have been a better choice. Hopped to Dover from RAFM on a C5 once... Had the box lunches, but someone forgot to put the water and coffe on board. I just happened to have several liters of Bulmer's Woodpecker hard cider in my bag... The loadmaster was cool about it, but when the crew chief found out, he was pissed (American style) that we were getting pissed (British style) on his airplane! I'm a paramedic in a small town just west of WPAFB in Dayton now. We're seeing more of the C-5's overhead since the 445th is losing their 141's and switching to Fat Albert. I had forgotten how unique they sound. I'm rambling. I'll shut up now. Like the site Chris! Greg

Chris, I read your Epinions review of a the Edu Science metal detector that you panned. Holy cow, you need to give up your day job and go into comedy. My husband and I laughed until tears rolled down our faces with such comments as the md "may prove useful for finding a car under 1/4" of snow." Also, we won't soon (read, ever) be purchasing that product based on the review. Thanks.

Thanks for the link to your site Chris. I'm glad to know I was correct and not a total air-head.:) If you believe you want to write a book, Do so. If I have learned anything in my life it is if you want something bad enough, or have the desire to do something, you should do it. Never put it off because life has this funny way of making us "forget" or we get busy or side tracked. I am sure I don't need to tell you this. I just think if you have the desire you should give it a shot!.Good Luck..~Ness~
