Somehow some of the bb's rolled into the right holes and the name CHRIS NOEL just moments ago came up. After all this time, thanks, Love, for making it just a little better for a Cali boy away from home back in the day. All respects, RON HOUSLEY US Army, Ret. 4/18 Arty, Hanau, Germany 1968

COMMENT:Hello Chris, I wanted to tell you about "A Weekend to Remember, the 25th Anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial." is the documentary project that I've been working on since December, 2007. As a Vietnam veteran, I approached Vietnam Veterans of America about my project and they gave me a media pass that allowed me to shoot to the events, reunions and parade during Veterans Day weekend in Washington D.C., 2007 that includes Colin Powell’s remarks at "The Memorial." You can view a short 8 minute video at http://www.youtube.com/afveteran that will give you an idea about the project. BTW, I did try sending you an email on one of your related web sites. I hope you read this and contact me. Thank You, mark arguello

COMMENT:Hi, Chris. I just wanted to thank you so much for making your apppearance at LaPosada. I wish I had known more about you, I would have never called you a "Mascot". I just wanted to be polite. I remember you on T.V. when my family would watch Bob Hope Tours to Vietnam. I would sit and wait to see you come up in the Helicopter. I told my father I wanted to do that when I got older. You would bounce out on stage in your mini skirts and go go boot. Your smile was captivating. All the soldiers would go wild, the happiness you gave to them will be in their hearts forever. Thank you again, Lorna.

She brought you home one day and took you to meet my Dad who sold you some sterio equipment through the store he managed in Redondo Beach and later we all come over to your home where you were living with Eileen at the time. My Dad delivered and set up the equipment for you. Do you remember us? I hope so. At the time my mom liked you alot and I had wished I had been a little bit older so I could have gotten to know you better. I think I was about 12 or 13 at the time. I also remember you had sent us an invitation to your wedding. I still have it. It was on beautiful floral white on white paper. Im sorry about what happened to your husband. How awful for you... I live in Seatte now and take care of my Father. He is 83. My Mother passed away in Oct. 1997. I would like for us to be friends. I was in Love with you, along with 500,000 other G.I.'s THANK YOU, for being such a wonderful and Beautiful too, supporter of the troops. It wasn't politically correct to support the troops back then like it is now in Iraq. It took a person with REAL commitment to go against the grain. For that, I will be forever grateful. Again, THANK YOU, for ALL of us, some didn't make it back, but I'm sure they smile down from Heaven when they hear your name mentioned. COMMENT: Saw Chris in Nam 67 or 68. she visited our base camp in Long Binh. I was with the 199th LIB, 87th Engineers. We pulled a low boy trailer out and covered it so she would be in the shade. She wore her mini skirt that set all of our hearts beating a bit faster.I don't remember that much of the show but I remember that she had a portable record player. I do remember that someone yelled out to her to take off her sunglasses. He had to repeat it a couple of times before she understood. Finally she took them off and the guy yelled out, "Oooooh, Round eyes". I do remember that she did cheer us all up and remind us of our wives and girlfriends back in the world. God bless you Chris for being there for all of us.You'll never know how much seeing you in person and hearing that soft sexy voice meant to us.

COMMENT:Hello Chris You may not remember me but you can't forget the show you did for us at Eastfield College DCCCD in Mesquite. Tx.. I was the Pres. of the Eastfield Vets Club and we did a show with your gracious presence to get funds for those vets that were having a hard time financially staying in school. It was 74, or 75 as I remember, with this 64 yr old brain. You were living in West Texas (Midland-Odessa I believe) and married to an oilman when you surprised us and agreed to do the show. I never got to see you in Nam but heard you a few times on AFRTS. I still remember my blushing when you kissed me as I gave you a bouquet of roses on stage after the performance. What you may not have known was there was a striking little blonde in the audience that never forgave me or you for that kiss, albeit on the cheek. We've been divorced for 27 years now, and some of the problem was the PTSD I've recently been diagnosed with, after 40 + years back from Nam, plus her problem with insecurity. I moved to Ga. after the divorce to re-coup, but still hold Texas as my truly adopted home. I just wanted you to know that, after all these years, you hold a special place in my heart, and many others, for all you did for us Nam vets and especially the vets at Eastfield College. Your name comes up frequently and especially when two of my old Nam buddies showed up at my door last month after 41 years of no contact. They didn't believe that I got a kiss from you, much less being on the same stage. The people at Eastfield raved about that show for years. Saw the article in the Aug.08 Vietnam Magazine and had to write (The VA Docs don't like me reading it or like mags). I hope this finds you well and as "deeply" beautiful as ever. COMMENT:Hi Chris ~ Wishing you a Happy 2008 New Year and it wa great to see you during Elvis Week 2007 in Memphis where is was much too hot. I hope this finds you doing well and please be sure to buy the February 2008 issue of Readers Digest magazine and read my most recent Elvis interview. Best Always ~ Rockin' Robin Rosaaen " All The King's Things" Photograph by Vicki Thompson Devoted: Robin Rosaaen of Willow Glen has 40,000 Elvis Presley items in her extensive collection. One of those pieces is a pair of Elvis slippers. She also has a rare leather jacket. Elvis collector is considered an expert By Laura Rheinheimer Fifty years ago, The King of Rock 'n' roll debuted in his first film, Love Me Tender, to the delight of Elvis fans across the nation. As a 9-year-old in San Lorenzo, Robin Rosaaen went to see the film, which premiered in New York City on Nov. 16, 1956, and immediately fell in love. Today Rosaaen's home is a testament to the man who ruled rock 'n' roll. "Rockin' Robin," a nickname given to her by The King himself, has one of the largest private Elvis Presley collections in the world, according to James Forsher, who recently published The Love Me Tender Diary. Her two-bedroom Willow Glen apartment is covered floor to ceiling with everything Elvis. Rosaaen estimates she has 40,000 Elvis items, including records, 600 books, scarves he wore on stage, shirts, pins, playing cards, figurines, documents and knick-knacks. She also has his life documented in 80,000 photographs, some of which are extremely rare, including personal messages from Elvis to Rosaaen. Included in her extensive collection are 13 scarves, some of which Elvis gave her during his concerts. Among her prized possessions is a sweater from the 1962 film Kid Galahad, starring Elvis as a boxer, and pants he wore in the movie Frankie and Johnny. Throughout the years Rosaaen has collected Elvis items by going to auctions, and buying from fans and celebrity shops. She even lays claim to his dental records, his divorce papers signed by Elvis and Priscilla Presley, and an Elvis Presley leather jacket she purchased in 1988. Ultimate fan Rosaaen has been a collector and an Elvis fan since she was a child, but it wasn't until her early 20s that she combined the two passions. She was living in Los Gatos and rediscovered The King while watching his 1968 comeback special on television. As her fascination grew, Rosaaen sold off her other pop collections, which included the Beatles and the Beach Boys, in order to work on preserving Elvis' memory. In early 1970, she drove to Las Vegas for her first live Elvis concert. It became a bi-annual ritual, and Rosaaen became a regular front-row face at performances. It took hard work and dedication, and a bit of cash, to stand out among the throngs of fans, but her persistence paid off during one concert at the Sahara-Tahoe Casino in 1974. That's when Rosaaen became known as "Rockin' Robin." Rosaaen says she bribed her way to the front row and held up a bumper sticker that read, "I want your body." Elvis came over and grabbed the sticker and said, "You got it!" Rosaaen reached for his scarf, but he stopped her and said, "Let me do it," and wrapped the scarf around her neck. Later in the performance, Rosaaen says, "He came over and pointed at me, and said, 'Rockin' Robin.' " The entire incident is documented in a series of photographs, Rosaaen's most sentimental piece of Elvis history--and her own. Rosaaen continued to attend his concerts whenever possible and kept track of Elvis' travels. "I used to write Elvis when I knew he was home," she says, and that correspondence included pictures for him to sign. It wasn't an obsession, she insists. It was "more of a passion for Elvis the man and entertainer." When the reply letters came, Rosaaen says, her neighbors and friends would marvel at the return address. "He enjoyed the rapport he had with his fans," Rosaaen says. "In those days, you respected the pleasure entertainers gave you." Rosaaen was present at his last three shows in 1976. "He was vocally strong," she says, "but he didn't appear well." When he died in 1977, Rosaaen decide not attend his funeral at Graceland. "I wanted to remember him as I last saw him on stage," she says. After the initial shock wore off, Rosaaen kept his persona alive by visiting Graceland and keeping in touch with other Elvis fans. She lent photographs and collectibles for book projects, most recently Rockin' Down the Highway: The cars and people that Made Rock 'n' roll, which is available in local bookstores. In 1996, part of her collection appeared in an "Elvis and Marilyn" exhibit at the San Jose Museum of Modern Art, and was on display at UC-Berkeley and the 1996 Olympics in Salt Lake City. Her Elvis collection even made it into a picture book geared toward children. All the King's Things earned Rosaaen fame among Elvis fans around the world, according to various experts. Over the years as Rosaaen built up her collection, she developed an eye for what were genuine Elvis collectibles. She considers herself a connoisseur of Elvis memorabilia and knows a fake from the real thing. Talk show hosts such as Geraldo Rivera, Oprah Winfrey and Joan Rivers considered her an Elvis expert. "I never dreamed back in the '60s that being an Elvis fan would get me on to all these talk shows," she says. Hobby turned job In 1997, Rosaaen started working at eBay as employee number 41, opening envelopes in customer services. But she couldn't get Elvis off her mind, and pitched the idea of an Elvis trade page and virtual museum on eBay's website to management. She worked nights and weekends to create the Elvis webpage and named it after the book, All the King's Things. The idea proved so popular the company made Rosaaen the category manager of the Elvis page. "My hobby became my job," she recalls. She served as the Elvis official in the "ask the expert" section, and still answers emails sent to elvis@ebay.com. As part of her job, she checked for fraud and pulled fake items off the site within five hours of their postings. Rosaaen says the items that are tops on the fraud list include fake autographs and "rare" photographs that are actually copies. Rosaaen's expert eye can tell immediately if an autograph is fake. Her job at eBay helped refine her own collection. She collected an array of new items, from Christmas cards to an Army pocket guide from his service days that included handwritten margin notes. Then eBay had major layoffs in 2001, and Rosaaen decided to continue on her own. She had already made a name for herself among Elvis fans, and found a way to earn a living by offering her Elvis collection and expertise to companies. She recently worked out a deal with PressPass, a hobby company, to purchase a shirt and a scarf from her Elvis collection, which will be cut into small pieces and included in selected trading cards in the Elvis Lives series that will be sold at Target and Wal-Mart. "People always wanted a part of my collection," Rosaaen says. "Now they can get it." Rosaaen's dream is to open a gallery on Lincoln Avenue where she can show and share her extensive collection with the public and Elvis fans. "Elvis will live on even after the original fans are gone," Rosaaen says. "If I can pass on the pleasure Elvis gave me as a fan, that's kind of the purpose."

I just wanted to tell you that I looked at that picture many times (as did a lot of guys in my unit) and kept the thoughts that somewhere back home "in the world" was a girl waiting for me just like you. My dear, sweet lady, you truely were the inspiration for many guys just like me to look forward to coming home. COMMENT:I have nothing but fond memories of Chris Noel on the Armed Forces Radio in Vietnam. To be honest, I was In Love! In just one of may dark times in Vietnam I was with India Co. 3/3 at the Washout Bridge (C-2) in November 1967 when me and my A-Gunner (Machine Gunner Jerry Meehan) were listening to Chris on a dinky little portable radio we had jerry rigged with some discarded PRC-25 Batteries, and sitting on our butts in the mud, raining like all hell was loose when we simply ignored the first 4 incoming 122mm Rockets just to hear her voice and the music. After one landed about 30 yards behind us, we dove into our hole only to find that we were about to drown, HA! Chris meant everything to Marines in 3rd Bn 3rd Marines. Without her on the DMZ, all we had was Hanoi Hannah and she just didn't make for us, HA! Still Love You Chris...Me and Jerry made it home!

COMMENT:Hi Chris...in a million years you will not remember me even though our picture appeared on the front page of almost every newspaper in the country. On December 25th, 1965, a group of celebrities came to visit us at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco. Ward D-4 was for broken or missing limbs for Vietnam Vets returning for repairs. Among the celebs was then Governor Pat Brown, Don Drysdale & Sandy Koufax of the Dodgers, Rowan & Martin before their big break on TV, you and Eileen Oneil. You and Ms. Oneil each kissed me on the cheek as I lie in bed and the photo went nationwide. I got hundreds of letters as a result and this is my first oppertunity to say thank you. Thank you for giving up your Christmas to help make ours a little better. Thank you for never giving up on my fellow brothers in arms. That you chose your path over the life of a movie star is commendable indeed. One of the saddest parts of my own service over there is that when I was injured, I was never able to say good-bye to any of my buddies, the guys who put their lives on the line every day with me. In all of these years, I have never been able to close that chapter, but today, I am one step closer. God bless you Chris, for all you have done for our men in uniform and for all that is still left to do. If you ever read these words, know that you're very much appreciated by the guys who's lives you've touched and of course, if you're ever in the San Diego area, I certainly hope I learn of it so that I may one day thank you in person. And no, I no longer have a copy of that photo, wish I did!! aloha, mikey burns, Encinitas, California 2007

While I'm talking to him he puts CHRIS NOEL on the phone to talk to me. I told her I'm very aware of her and her devotion to OUR troops during the Vietnam War and what she does today to help our VETERANS. It was an honor and my pleasure to be able to talk to her and I had to say THANK YOU to her for what she has done. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet her in person someday. It's funny because I have a copy of the issue of THE NAM comic book right here on my desk that portrays her on the cover. I have it here because she's wearing a fatigue shirt with the 25th Infantry Division patch on it and that's my old outfit at Cu Chi. There is also a photo of you & Nancy Sinatra on page 251. The photo of us was taken on May 7, 1983 - when we marched (wearing our late husbands' uniforms) in the "Welcome Home Parade" in New York City. I have the original photo (in color) if you would like me to send you a copy. Since the section in the book was about women's perspectives on the war, Col. Bailey (who is in the original photo)was deleted from the picture in the book. The book, which is owned by the Center For Social Studies, in PA, has a telephone number to call about it - 412-341-1967. I remember sending a copy of the photo shortly after the parade to someone who was interested in writing a book, but forgot all about it until last year when a friend of mine was reading the book and saw the photo with our names. Anyway, hope things are well with you. I left working at the POW/MIA vigil in June 2005 and moved here in Austin, Tx -where my oldest son lives. He was pround to have served his country, but was not pleased the way that the VA has treated him, and I'm still fighting to get my part back from his VA pension. They say that I'm not entitled to it because I have too much income. I don't understand what that has got to do with the VA penison. It doesn't say anything in the gray book that the VA gives you about a widow having too much income to draw her part of her husband’s VA pension. I have been dealing with this since January 2004 when I put my claim in after Tommy passed away at the age of 60. That is just too young to die. I came to your web site through the Vietnam helicopter crew members assoc. Tommy was a life time member and was proud of this organization that this guys all served in Vietnam. COMMENT:Dear Chris, Thank You!! I am now an old gray haired "Viet" vet but I've never forgotten the way you lifted my spirits in that stinky old place! Your radio show was always a bright spot in a very dismal experience. Thank you for remembering us guys and continuing to honor us which was, at times, very unpopular with the "opinion makers" in the media. I had the great pleasure of watching your rally on the mall on TV. It appears the major media was conspicuously absent as usual! You have remained loyal, steadfast, and dedicated to a generation of courageous young Americans who gave their best! Their reward from their fellow citizens when they returned was to be spat upon and vilified as inhuman mass murders and baby killers. I found that for many years my status as a Vietnam vet was a subject best not mentioned among those who never served. Your efforts helped greatly in restoring a sense of honor and pride in us who served in the most contentious and unpopular war of the twentieth century. With much love and heartfelt respect! My brother & I had just gotten a casette recorder and we recorded many of the songs from the movie (to try it out) and ended up listening to them many times over the next few years. Well, about a year ago I was 'surfing' the net and decided to search for 'that movie' I had seen many years ago and only remembered a few bars from the song 'Two of a Kind'. The plot of the movie was a bit murky but I ended up tracking it down. Since then I have watched "Get Yourself a College Girl" and enjoyed that. I have also been searching for a copy of "Wild Wild Winter" but have been unsuccessful so far. I have had my TIVO searching for a showing on cable for the last eight months. But, still having only seen it once, I can say that I remember it with great fondness (although as I said the details escape me some). Congratulations on your work with the troops and your continued charitable work.

Theirs’ was not to reason why Theirs’ was but to do or die Their Country needed them so off they went They did not return in glory For this was another story The Vietnam American lament For all of those who gave their lives Their parents, children and their wives They didn’t get a thing that they deserved For they were just as much and more As those from any other war Don’t let old soldier’s pass by unobserved God bless you, Lanny Poffo

COMMENT:Hello Chris, It has been awhile since we last met. I will try to refresh your memory. It was in Marina, California (Airborne Maggie Day). I was there with several other members from the 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sep) and I gave you a 173rd Challenge Coin. We were to meet again at the 173rd Reunion in Rochester, Minnesota but I could not make it. It was nice seeing you there at Maggies Airborne Days and enjoy the conversation, hugs and laughter. I hope that you are doing just fine and my prayers will always be with you. You are doing fine for all Veterans. I still have the picture you gave and autographed for me. Will stay in touch. COMMENT:Hi CHRIS I was in nam from oct 1968 to aug 1971. I got your album FORGOTTEN MAN & when I get down, I put it on & it helps. I was a grunt, then a door gunner, then a crew chief. I was in the BIG RED ONE 1/18th swamp rats & then the 68 th top tiger, then the 129th. I was on a slick called TIGER WAGON & I am proud of what I dun over there. I got married Aug 28, 1971. I started to write her 7 months before I came home. I called GLENDA 4 times from nam. On call 2, I asked here to marry me. We had never seen each other, just in photographs, & she said YES! Call 3 was to go to Hawaii, then I had to call here to tell her I had my RR pulled, but it turned out better. I took her to martha’s vineyard off Cape Cod & she told me this is 100% better than Hawaii. That was 35 years ago. Yes, we got our first grandson, his nickname is SCOOTER.

From "starlet" to a profound STAR, with a galaxy of those you have touched; you are to be commended for all the work you have done on behalf of Vietnam vets. COMMENT:Chris , Thanks for all you did for the troops over in Vietnam, I was justa kid in Mo still in grade school while it was happening.I did twenty in the USAF and served in SW Asia in Saudi Arabia at Daharan AB(Khobar Towers) and Prince Sultan Airbase and retired in 2000 as a SSgt. All the people that visited the troops while I was in Desert Shield-Calm helped make the days go faster and more pleasant. It's a shame Hollywood during and after the Vietnam war became so hostile to Vets and those who went to Vietnam to Entertain the troops. Its been over 30 yrs since VN and those folks in Hollywood still haven't honored the service of the Troops and entertainers that served in Vietnam and the wars since. So, Here is a BIG thank you for all you and the other brave Entertainers that went and did thier best to Keep up the Morale of the US Service Members. We never got to talk with each other even breifly and hope that this year we might be able too. Nancy always looks for me and we always meet there. COMMENT:Hi Chris, We met in DC a few years ago. You, Nancy Sinatra and Connie Stevens came over to the fence where I was in my wheelchair and my Army buddies from Vietnam were with me. Nancy talked me into coming into where the Rolling Thunder concert was and she insisted I sit right down front so she could sing to me and she did. I got to meet you that day and with all going on, we got to talk very little. I remember you so well from my time in Vietnam. I loved listening to you on AFVN Radio. You had visited our Company area at Long Binh on one of our stand downs from the field. You had autographed a picture for me then, but was later severely wounded and never saw my personal belonging again. You truly made things easier to deal with in Vietnam with your radio show, personnal appearances and your genuine caring for the GI's that served there. It was truly an honor and a pleasure to meet you in DC, just sorry we didn't get to talk more. I hope you'll come to DC again and I'll know when you are so we can meet again. I see that you know Peter Joannides from my unit, he organizes our unit reunion each year. He now lives not far from me here in Hershey, PA. If you have time, I'd love to hear from you. Maybe you could drop me an email sometime. All that you've done for us is never forgotten. Take care, Dennis

COMMENT:HI! I'm a Viet-era vet, and have been a high school social studies teacher for the past 33 years. I was rummaging around in my school's library recently and came across a book titled "Swingin' Chicks of the 60s." Much to my delight, there was a bio of you in it! Reading it brought back great memories of listening to you on AFRS, while I was stationed at USNB, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, with "H" Co., 2d Bn., 8th Marines, in 1968-69. The other guys in my office and I even sent you a set of dog tags and a personal note; we were ecstatic when you sent us back an autographed picture. Believe it or not, I still have that picture among my military memorabilia! In reading the above-mentioned book, I learned how involved you have been with veterans affairs over the years and I just wanted to say thanks for the thousands of lives you have touched. You were beautiful back then, and, even though I haven't seen a recent photo, I know you are just as beautiful today, both physically, and in all the ways that are truly important. Keep up the good work!

COMMENT: CHRISTMAS 1967 - DAK TO A tribute to Chris Noel December 1967, the Battle of Dak To had been over for a month. Our battalion had received its requirement for replacements for the casualties suffered during this intense period in our lives. As Xmas was approaching, our company(C/3/8 4th Inf Div) was informed that we would be rotated into firebase(FSB Hill 1338) for the holidays. The news came as a welcomed relief to us, all. After all, for a line company, firebase duty can almost be considered as your in-country R & R. It provides relative security as compared to being out "humpin' the boonies". I don't recall if we humped in or were choppered in to firebase. It doesn't matter, anyway. What was waiting for us would be water to get bathed in, hot chow, clean fatigues, and a chance to kick-back and relax for a few days. The excitement of Xmas came over all of us. A small pine tree, maybe 3 feet tall, was placed on one of the bunkers and adorned with anything that was available. The senior NCO's and officers were busy blowing up balloons of different colors and hanging them around the bunker. The Red Cross had sent out these red/green bags filled with gifts inside for all the troops. Our company commander, Capt. John Mirus, had received a bag of gifts from his hometown in Colorado. It seems his hometown "adopted" us for Xmas. These gifts were wrapped in traditional wrapping paper and placed under the tree with the gifts from the Red Cross. But the most precious gift of all was not there, yet. It would be arriving by chopper, we were told. Then we saw it, a lone helicopter, approaching our LZ(landing zone). Unaware what/who was on board, we looked down from our bunkers toward the LZ to see step out of the chopper, but this beautiful blond, dressed in a red, short sleeved blouse, green mini-skirt, and white boots that stopped above her calf. It was Chris Noel!! As she, and her party, walked up the hill towards the perimeter, the roar of appreciation from the troops was growing in intensity. She climbed atop the decorated bunker and proceeded to entertain us for about the next two hours or so with songs and dance. We were well aware of Bob Hope and the USO tour entertaining the troops in the rear areas where security was at its highest, but to have Chris Noel come into harm's way by coming out to our position was above and beyond the call of duty. Every year, at this time, I reflect back on one of the better days during my tour and in my heart thank her for her efforts. She had a heart for veterans, then, as she does now with her efforts in providing aid to the homeless veterans in Florida through Vetsville. I had the honor and privilege of meeting Chris at our first battalion reunion in Las Vegas in 1999 where her presence was gratiously welcomed by all. I, also, had the distinct honor of "pinning" her with a 4th Inf Div pin, making her an honorary Dragoon. Thankyou, Chris, and may God continue to bless you and your efforts. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Steve "Ed" Edmunds C/3/8 4th Inf Div RVN 5/675/68
