They lived in the middle and we lived on the end almost directly across from the "bunker". I have 2 brothers who are both younger than me, Martin and Adam. Adam was just a tot when we lived there. I remember so many people from those days and the pictures posted on the site have taken back to a time I thought was lost. I have so many fond memories of our time in Scotland. Also anyone from the Brownie Troop "Lone Troop Overseas" my friend Jennifer mother was the troop leader. I remember crawling under the turnstile along the fence to get off the base after hours to go home after our Brownie meetings. If anyone can remember what the school was that we got bused to off base, a quaint stone school in a small village, the headmaster used to smoke his pipe in school. |

After moving back to the US, I lost touch with everyone, but I really missed Edzell and Brechin. I believe Alan joined the Royal Navy after he left school, but I don't know any other details. I remember a lot of the Americans who came to that school for a couple of years, while their parents were based at RAF Edzell. I actually lived very close to the base at that time so, travelled on the same bus (both to and from school) as most Americans from base!
I am looking for Shani Snyder (now Wood). I do know she had at least 2 (if not 3) children. I have photos she sent me of them when they were very young. | Searching for:: | I was a scottish kid at montrose academy near Edzell until 1979. & was good friends with MARK ADAMY, whose father was a "commander" of sorts at the Edzell base (I think). I recall he has 2 sisters, 1 older & 1 younger and they lived in a house on a hill outside Hillside village.
I left Montrose, never returned, and like all young kids, never kept in touch with anyone. I have also left Scotland myself several years ago. I have no idea if he will recall me, as we would both have been around 13 years of age when I left. I distinctly remember the "lessons" in American Football. I still have his American Version of Monopoly which he left at my house & I never got the chance to return --- seriously I do. | Searching for:: | I was a CTM2 serving with the Royal Navy RNLCF in the elephant cage 1984-1987. I was jokingly said to be on "lend lease" to the Brits but it was for real.
My boss was RNCPO Brian Bavin who gave me a standing order to drink at least one pint of lager in the EM club every day at lunch (on duty!) or he'd have my "arse" in a sling. Boy did I get dirty looks from the US CPO's and PO's, but they couldn't bust me! I had to follow orders of my RN CPO and the RN Commander. It was a unique experience for an American sailor. Best days of my life. So many names I can't think of but some I'll never forget: LWRO Vanessa Ewing, LWRO Corrine Eddie, LWRO Flo Peters. My skiing partner I can't remember your name but you were RN too (Black Adder fan). Also USAF Sgt. John McCaulley -we climbed many mountains and drank many "shorts". I still have your slides from the P.I. Can't find you. My roommate CTM3 Alecia Pentecost -I'll never forget you and your cats Romeo and Juliett. JJ and Judy! And Sherry S. -do you still have my ring? I think of you often. There's many other RN and American friends I served with there. I'll have to remember some more names. I cherish those memories -we really had it made there but didn't realize it then. I've lost touch with everyone from those days. Hope this finds some of them! |

Carolyn McIntire wins the award for staying in touch! We returned to the Wichita Ks public schools to teach. Diana has now retired after 27 yrs of teaching high school and middle school. Galen taught for ten years and then went into doing drug, gang and youth violence prevention programs in schools. He was the Ks governors special assistant on all state anti drug programs from 87 to 91. He is currently executive director of school safety, security and police programs in Wichita (49,000 students in 100 schools) Hope to hear from you. |

Jeff was best friends with John Hillan. And I was best friends and still in touch with John's sister, Suzanne. I'm related to them now since my big sister Debi married John in 1977. I married a Marine that I met while we were there - we had four kids together but we split up in '96.
