| Comments: | Kim Jong-Il is having a campaign in Japan through the North Korean organization called Chosen-Soren saying that the Japanese government not financially supporting (North) Korean Schools in Japan is a discrimination. Many nave Japanese believe it and want to support North Korean Schools in Japan.
However it is totally a wrong and bad policy. It is not discrimination. As a matter of the fact, the Japanese government financially supports (South) Koran Schools in Japan. The reason is that North Korean Schools in Japan are directly controlled by Kim Jong-Il. Please see an attached. It is a part of the text books used in North Korean High Schools in Japan. In an example, the text book teaches that the Korean War was started by South Korea, that is the exact opposite of the truth. North Korean High Schools teach North Korean modern history for three years. It is not Korean history but North Korean modern history. Each year in high school students use a text book (the average of about 150 pages). For example, In the third years text book, it mentions Kim Il-Sung 67 times (1 per 2.5 pages), mentions Kim Jong-Il 86 times (1 per less than 2 pages), and shows the pictures of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il 23 times (1 per 3.5 pages). As a matter of facts, Mun Se-gwang who killed the wife of South Korean President Park Chung-Hee was a graduate of a North Korean School in Japan. There are many of those examples. North Koran Schools are directly controlled by Kim Jong-Il. You can understand that what kind of people Kim Jong-Il is trying to create. It is not a discrimination for Japanese government not to financially support North Koran Schools in Japan. Japanese government continues to support (South) Korean schools in Japan. The Japanese government should never support Kim Jong-Ils North Korean Schools in Japan. Please send your voice to Japanese Prime Minister in any language, Korean, English, etc. kan-naoto@nifty.com PS: If you want to read all of the text book (high school 1st year only), please let me know. |

"China Demanding Written Pledge from Japan" Hi, Kato Hiroshi here, with a brief update on our activities. (And, at the end of this email, a request for an introduction.) It's hard to believe, but more than 10 North Korean refugees who wish to resettle in Japan are being blocked from leaving China by the Chinese government... and this has continued for a shamefully long time. In fact, at least 5 of these refugees have been confined in the Japanese Consulate in Shenyang for almost two years. Some of their relatives, who have already made it to Japan, have repeatedly been calling our offices to ask for help with their release. We, in turn, have been urging the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to demand that China permit these people to leave. The Asahi Shimbun (a major Japanese newspaper) reported in detail on July 8 that at least 10 North Korean refugees have been confined in Japanese diplomatic missions in China for an unconscionably long time. The reason? The Chinese government is refusing them permission to leave. China is - in effect - blackmailing the Japanese MOFA, demanding from them a written pledge that no Japanese diplomatic mission in China will ever again accept or protect North Korean refugees. Click here to read more details: http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-08-trapped.htm LFNKR urges you to protest this policy of the Chinese government by sending letters or email to your local Chinese embassy, consulate or diplomatic mission. Do a quick search on the Internet for the address of The Chinese Embassy or consulate in your area. The following are 3 examples: Chinese Embassies in USA: http://www.china-embassy.org Chinese Embassies in UK: http:www.chinese-Embassy.org.UK/eng Chinese embassy in Tokyo: http://www.china-embassy.or.jp To help you catch up on news about North Korean refugees, I'm including links to some recent posts on our English language website. * 2 foster children - 2 success stories http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-07-2fosterkids.htm * LFNKR members visit Golden Triangle http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-07-visit-thai.htm * Donor sends warm, hand-knitted clothing http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-06-knitcap.htm * Mystery in a North Korean village http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-06-mystery.htm * They won't reap what they sow http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-06-badrice.htm * Survivor of NK starvation speaks http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-06-orphan.htm * Visit to Bangkok's Immigrant Detention Center http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-06-idcvisit.htm * University in US recognizes LFNKR director Noguchi http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-06-asu-noguchi.htm http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-04-newbook.htm * US State Dept. honors LFNKR's Kato http://www.northkoreanrefugees.com/2010-04-katosaward.htm It has been much too long since I sent you an update. This is mainly because our efforts are limited by the human resources we have available. There is much more news than we have time or manpower to translate into English and mail out, so I really could use your help with this. If you know of anyone who would like to help with the North Korean refugee issue by serving as an occasional volunteer translator of our Japanese articles into English, I urge you to point them our way. I'd very much appreciate your assistance with this. Hopefully, we can find more volunteer translators to help us catch up with the translation load - and keep you better informed. Regards from Japan, Kato Hiroshi Executive Director |

Again, one more year is going to pass without rescuing even an abductee. While I appreciate that I have foods to eat, a place to sleep, and I can see my friends whenever I want to, I will not forget people who are without foods or shelters or who cannot even see their own families for many years. PS: To remind myself not to forget about abductees in a my own very small way, I decided not to eat or drink anything at all for 24 hours on 12/25.@@ ia |

- a English sample e-mail (Please fix the content by yourself.) info@gs-efd.admin.ch President Hans-Rudolf Merz I here respectfully ask Your Excellency. I would like to request the Swiss government to expose all the secret bank accounts of Kim Jong-Il of North Korea by all means and to stop helping him. Kim Jon-Il not only abducts foreign citizens in order to conducts terrorist activities and crimes such as counterfeit money and narcotic, but also send hundred of thousands of innocent own North Korean people to prison camps, and continue to force millions of North Korean people to starve to death, for his own profit. I would respectfully ask the Swiss, one of the most honorable countries of all, not to help Kim Jon-Il, but to expose his accounts, and close all his accounts in the Swiss banks. Very sincerely yours, your name |

We designed a special fact sheet: North Korea: Did You Know? which is perfect for people who do not know about the North Korea human rights situation and it includes our flyer. See attached. Crossing Screening this Sunday: If you've continued to miss seeing this powerful film, it will be shown at International Calvary Church (one of the North Korea Freedom Week host churches) in Springfield at 6 pm on Sunday, April 19. | Comments: | By making a deal with North Korea, compromising, and even giving money, if we could achieve peace and happiness, it is great.
However the history proves otherwise. North Korea has repeated cheating on making Nuke. North Korea has used international aid to strengthen the dictatorship, not for the North Korean people. North Korea continues to deny massive abduction from all over the world. I oppose de-list of North Korea as a terrorist state. |
