It has only been a month, but I know the numbness and the pain. It is likely she left on her own, that is a long story, however, this leads the police to care even less and not look for her at all. No one has heard a word from her, she cannot be found, perhaps she is stil alive. I pray every day for that, but there is still a deep gut wrenching pain in my heart because I dont know and may never know. I feel for you and your pain. | Comments: | Oct. 18th 1988? Was that the same day California had a massive earthquake? I must have been 10 years old when your daughter went missing. Oct 18th is actually my birthday. It’s too bad that no one has come forth with any knowledge about what happened. Stockton is such a small city, someone must know something! I believe that many cases can now be solved by using the massive power of the Internet. For starters, where is the guy who was the original suspect? Since that time has he ever been convicted of any crime? Is he still alive? Second, I would look at old payphone layouts to pinpoint any pay phones in that area. What phone did your daughter call from? I assume this would have to be a payphone since the year was 1988. I would take the daunting task of reviewing the criminal records of anyone who lived with a five-mile radius of the DMV. Lexis Nexis is a huge database with tons of criminal records. Check to see if anyone who lived in that area had a violent criminal pass or eventually commit serious crimes. Did anyone who worked for the DMV get convicted of any serious felony since 1988? I would ask for a list of all the names of everyone who had business at the DMV that day and check to see if they have a criminal record. Did anyone other women come up missing in Stockton or the surrounding area during this same time period? I still think the key is with Jamie Morales. If I had a dob or a middle name on him I could look him up on Lexis Nexis. My second suspicion would be on the customers at the DMV that day. Lines are long at the DMV, This would give plenty of time for someone to notice if your daughter was alone or not. I’m not sure what you have done, but I hope these suggestions help. I will keep this case in mind and if I get some free time I will try to do some research. Keep hope alive!!! One more thing…try making a video about your daughter to play on cable access. It’s free to run programming there and it may pay off. I truly hope you find her someday. |

AMW and unsolved wouldn't help us. we also contacted politicians, the gov of NC. the President of the US. IT WAS ALL ROUTED BACK TO CUMBERLAND county nc sherrif's detectives. In other words dead end. we feel sure my neice's [1 of whom is missing] husband is responsible for their disappearance.He has her youngest son. the 3 children that are missing are from a previous marriage. I had the most eerie feeling come over me. I was curious as to how many other stories were out there and I found myself looking at your daughter's picture with her bright eyes and beautiful smile. It makes me so sad that you have found no leads and no answers. I cannot imagine what you are going through. And Steven Staynor, he was recovered alive after many years a captive. And the perseverance? Carrie Culberson's mom REFUSED to give up, her murderer is IN PRISON, even without a body. She has been harassed by her murderers relatives and won't back down. I also want to tell you how sorry I am about AMW, I think what's happening there is they are just getting too big....I have read of probably 50 cases that were submitted and rejected. It is not an excuse for coldness, but I believe they need additional staff/show/etc. And people leaving repulsive messages? I really don't get that. It they are pranksters what sick jokes. If they are molesters, etc. karma will bite them in the behind, or they will answer in the afterlife. As a budding journalist, I too am wondering why it is that so many people disapear every day without any fanfare, yet we only hear of a handfull of them. I agree with you that these people are human as well. They are someone's parent, child, grandchild, sibling, cousin etc. It is just as frustrating for me to see that no one in the media, or in government for that matter, wants to do anything about it. I have never experienced the pain of losing someone close to me, but I think the fact that journalism has such a "black eye" because of things like uninvolvement in missing person cases is why I want to change all that. I pray for her and think of her often and I hope one way or another this nightmare will come to an end. I have a strong feeling that this Jamie Morales person has everything to do with her dissapearance. She probably got a ride with him, he wanted a sexual favore in return, she resisted and in a fit of rage he strangled or accidently during a struggle killed her. He then disposed of the body, well hidden. I know it for 200% because he is the last person to be with her (you are so lucky she said his name, otherwise the mistery would be much bigger), he gave her a ride, his alibi cannot be confirmed and most importantly: he doesn't want to talk to police, that sounds guilty to me. You should do everything in your legal power to go after this guy, not leaving him alone and making him do a lie detector test, one day he will slipp through and make a mistake or say conflicting things and it will come out. You have to not let go of this boy, he is the only one who can tell you where to find her remains so that you can finally put her to rest. Gayle deserves this and you as a mother and family too.
