My husband and I just saw my great grandparents rock house in Western Grove Ark. (April 2003) It brought tears to my eyes to see it again in the photo on your web site. We have a rich history! | Comments: | I am the daughter of Kathryn Irene Clifton Jones, who is the daughter of Franklin Kirby Clifton and Hattie Mae Wheeler. I am very much interested in the Clifton genealogy, especially regarding our immigrant ancestor. Does anyone have information about the Clifton who originally came to the US from Europe?
I live in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and work in Knoxville. Last year, after the Clifton reunion in Roseville, California, I spent a day at the library in Winchester, Tennessee, gathering as much new information as I could about our family. I would like to go back and visit Jump Off and the cemeteries where our ancestors are buried. At one time, there was a play about the area where a lot of the early Cliftons lived, but I don't know if it is still presented. Do any of you know? My Father (Dale Clifton) was born in Stillwater, OK. I have aunts and uncles in the Oklahoma/Texas region and I think my grandfather (Benjamin) moved from Arkansas.
