| Hello all. I live in Rockwall, Texas and am descendant of pioneer immigrant Dorman Sabert Loughland.
I'm one of the Lofland family genealogy guys and have descendancy charts with many of the names I see listed here. If you want to communicate leave a message here. |

| Guess what --- I'm another Lofland descendent!! I'm the great-granddaughter of Tempie Lorena Lofland Myers, who was the daughter of Charles Wilburn Lofland and Katie Hedrick. I have been in contact with other Lofland descendents in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and would love to communicate with any Lofland descendents in an effort to eventually have a Lofland reunion. Please e-mail me at vwilliams@dehay.com if you are interested or are willing to provide relatives' contact information. |

| Hi Christen, I am searching for information on two Lofland families. Solomon Lofland and Mary Kathrine Macklin.Son George Lofland who married Ella Rickards. Also another Solomon Lofland who's daughter was Mary Lofland born 1832. My husbands great grandfather Levin Rickards was married to Mary Smith in 1834, Had daughter Ella in 1850. George Lofland was born 1849 Delaware. Does anyone have information on these two families? |
| Carol Fern (Lofland) Turner writes: Thursday, February 17th 2005 - 10:28:00 PM |
| My mother maiden name was Lofland. Her father was Charles Curtis Lofland, born Illinois 1889. He was the son of Solomon Lofland born in Delware in 1820. Solomon had 12 Children,Jesse, Samuel, George, James, Sarah, David, Rachael, Mary Elma, Carrie, Anna, Charles and Eva Retta. I have traced Solomon's ancestors to Dorman Loughland (Lofland) in Virginia. The sons and daughters of this man spread mostly to Delaware where they owned land. There is a very interesting website called "Golden Lyon II" That is the society for geneology work in Virginia. It shows this man as being the first in our line, born 1647 to come to America. However, I cannot find material to show where he came from. So if anybody has any information about England or Scotland or Russia, I would like to know. My mother always said we were Scottish so I am glad to hear someone else have that oral history also. |

| Thank you all for setting up this wonderful site. We as Lofland's need to establish the CLAN again, if you will :) We are all that is left Of a great tradition. I am so happy to see others that have posted to the last name Of LOFLAND. Bless you each and every one, and the ones who have started it! I take my last name very seriously. There were Many Loflands who have passed on defending this name though out history. Starting from Along time ago. I am on a quest to find out where our name came from. What I have been told was when the English came to take our lands in Scotland we were in the Highland reagon. When Longshanks came to try and defeat us some of us fled to Russia and some stayed in Scotland. Here is the quest I am on. If we are spelling the Name correctly LOFLAND then we were prior to the english taking over our name. The term "Mac" means "The Son Of" So we do not have that spelling. So we would not be part of the Mac Laughlin or the Mac Lofkin, possibly. It could have possibly changed when our
Fore Fathers came to the US and they changed it back to the original spelling. Again, this is not writen in stone that is why it is hard to find information. I have learned that we are all over the US. From Main to all the way in Cal. and south to FL. We are ALL the same family so someone should know.. :) at least I pray they do. Take care and if you are interested please contact me and Keep our name alive!! Thank you agian and God bless. Gordon Michael Lofland Austin, Texas |
