We were "with it" to have Doc at LaSalle High School in the early 70's...Doc was also a brilliant teacher of Theory and Arranging, and as a member of the HS Band and a student of Doc's, his ability to step-back from the playing and think about what you need to know -- and how to play it were his greatest lessons.

I use his lessons in Theory and Arranging to this day, and we have re-grouped a Stage band playing the range from Standards to party dance, rock and everything in between. I play Keyboards and Synths at 50+ years, and I still refer to Doc's inspirational "Get with This!" when presenting new material to the band.

Thank you Doc -- we'll keep your memory forever !

My ex husband is Don Paladino's only son, just now finding out about exactly how great his father was. Apparently his mother didn't share much w/ him. She died of cancer @ 52 yrs. old. Christopher Brian Paladino is 61 now & has miraculously survived both of his parents. He would like t know more about his father Don if anyone would care to contact him. His email is: Flyfisher185@aol.com. Thank you much!

Doc Reinhardt was my next door neighbor in Broomall, PA for years. He gave me free private trombone lessons in his home from grade school to junior high when I left the school band and pursued less worthwhile pursuits as a teenager. I was too young and naive then to know what an amazing opportunity I let slip through my fingers. I still have the music and lessons with his personal notes to me in storage. - Every Good Boy Does Fine

In 1978 when working in DC I was fuzzing out on 4th space bass clef staff middle Gb on bass bone. Doug Elliott gave me a quick analysis. Spotted the problems, classified me as a IIIB, and gave me Doc's phone number.

At the first lesson we talked for about 45 minutes so that he "could study the malocclusion of my jaw (?)". Coming from the legit open mouth big breathing tradition I didn't quite know what to make of that. At the point I did not know about lip compression but I was open and ready to learn. I had already seen a ton of very successful Doc students in DC.

I still remember vividly when after seeing me play a few notes he said "I understand" And he did. What a relief!

Since that point I have been able to more or less play up to my potential on pea shooters, symphony tenors and bass- bone.

Thank you Doc.

The unfortunate thing is that not more players are open to his concepts. Many times when I try to pass the concepts on I get shrugs or if someone shows something they find in a periodical, it usually is a rediscovery of something Doc already had in his "Encyclopedia ...".

Thank you for keeping Doc and concepts alive.
