Comments:In researching my family geneology, I found church records indicating that gg grandparents are buried in Lowe's Burying Ground. One was buryed at Edward Lowes burying ground, the other at Frank Lowes burying ground. One was in 1854 the other 1871. Since they are husband and wife, I am assuming they are in the same place. Does anyone have any idea where Lowes bury ground is located. They lived in the Reisterstown area of Baltimore County

Comments:How can I get a copy of the Preservation Kit? Will it be online eventually or can I have it mailed to my work address? On another note, what stance does your organization take on remote cemeteries - such overbrush be allowed to cover the site in an attempt to deter vandalism or should it be removed and replaced with natural shrubbery or fencing to make off the confines of the cemetery? Furthermore, would it be better to not promote a cemetery as a historic attraction in our park system if we are not able to regularly monitor its condition?

Comments:The Baltimore Sun featured an intersting article 10-31-2008 entitled, "Judge Says Case of Lost Cemetery May Proceed". It concerned a civil case that the Court of Special Appeals sent back to Circuit Court over whether or not the developer of the Brighton Pines subdivision in Clarksville, Maryland (Howard County) can be held accountable for removing headstones and concealing the fact that a cemetery was on a lot they sold and improved with a single family home.

This should be one to watch!

Comments:A comment posted on this site in 2006 asked about Ware Plantation in Charles County, Maryland. An ancestor of mine is buried there and I'd like to visit the grave site. The previous post indicated it was on land owned by a utility company. Does anyone know if this, in fact, is the location of Ware Plantation and whether anyone has been able to get access? Thanks for any information you can provide.

Comments:The Coalition to Protect Maryland Burial Sites, Inc., is a great resource. Jim Trader, via phone and in person, has given invaluable support for attempting to save a private family cemetery in Talbot County. I am sorry to hear that his health situation hasn't been all that great. Jim's follow-up letters of advice and direct intervention have been indispensible. He does a lot more than you would think one man could do. I have also had a helpful conversation with Mr. Barwick, a former member of the Coalition.

Comments:I am looking for Old Kreider Church Cemetery. It may also be called Pipe Creek Church, Benjamin's, St. Benjamins or Kriders Church. It is mentioned in reference to Revolutionary War Veteran Henry Croull, Graul, Crowell died 1784.

I believe it is near Westminster, MD

Is there any chance it is still there?

Thanks for all your great work in saving these old cemeteries.

Comments:Hello again. I found the Quillen Cemetery at Pennington Commons. It is very overgrown, infested w/ticks and the droppings from the massive flock of black birds is a purple mess, but I found the cemetery. Could only see one marker, a lovely metal one w/the name William B. Quillen, Father, which is located closest to the old roadway. Will investigate at a later time, perhaps after a heavy frost, and I need to check who the owner is first to make sure I am not an unwanted tresspasser. More later.

QUESTION: How do I go about getting some brochures on the Coalition for our Ocean Pines Library History Room? Please advise. Thanks!

What New England cemetery or cemeteries can this be found? What are the dates of the rooster? I will be up there next summer and would love to take a picture of one.

Let me know,

Comments:Hello! I am a volunteer in the Pines and help with maintaining the small cemetery that is in our neighborhood.
Only five headstones remain in this cemetery, those of the Jones, Massey and Rickords families. Have recv'd a letter from a Cathell who's Aunt Sarah is also buried there, but as with many, the grave is unmarked. There is also a small cemetery at Pennington Commons which I hope to investigate soon. My Grandad Malvin R.J. Knight was once a caretaker for the "New" Cathedral Cemetery in Balto. and my father was born in the house on Bonnie Brae road in the cemetery. My father is now laid to rest in the same cemetery. The house he was born in is long since gone. To all of you who are seeking help, remember that 'Nothing is lost in the mind of God', so I am certain He is willing to help, if asked, to find help where you need it. Keep trying, keep searching. Believe and NEVER give up! God Bless.

Comments:I am concerned about the Historic Evergreen Cemetery in Bladensburg, Md. There has been no response to my mail to the town Mayor. Where do I go next? Is anyone else looking at this site? Last fall it was infested and completely uncared for.

Although I live in California, members of my family are buried there, and I want to protect and greatly improve this place. Thanks very much.

Comments: My Wife Barbara has members of her family buried in the
Oella Cemetery on Rest Ave. Miller and Boone. The Cemetery is totally a mess. High grass and brush everywhere. A local
person who lives beside the area warned us not to walk inside the area. A dog was bitten by a copperhead snake and died. Graves are badly sunk in.
Where is Oella,s bride in letting its founders grave sites be left in this state. I was told that Oella had a big
celebration in app. one year and they may clean the area up.
Why doesnt the State Of Maryland and Baltimore County step in and have this cemetery cleaned up.

Comments:I own a family farm that has been in our family since pre revolutionary war days. The farm was originally know as Hanson's Green. In the 1960's my now deceased Aunt helped a local historian find the grave of Theophilus Hanson Unfortunately they didn't mark the site and anyone knowing where the site was is long deceased. I know a general location of where the grave yard was I walked back there recently and it was ground over completely and impossible to know that there had been a family grave yard there. I want to find my Gx6 grandmother ( Theo's wife) I think her name was Jane Harris Love from Trinity Parish in Southern MAryland. The farm where I think she is buried is in Port Tobacco. ANy info anyone may have of the Love family from Trinity Parish or info in how to locate forgotten grave sites would be greatly appreciated.

Comments:What a great work! I've done family research for years and have been sadded by the lack of care of gravesite in some parts of the country. I'm planning a trip to Maryland (I live in Illinois) and want to visit a grave that I believe is located at the Ware Plantation. I think it is located on property owned by Potomac Electric at there power plant in Morgantown Maryland. I wrote them to confirm that the cemetery is there and to ask for access unto the land to visit the Kidwell grave. They wrote back and said "for security reasons" they could not process my request.

I just read the Maryland rules on your website and it sounds like they can't refuse me, but, of course, I don't know for sure if there is a cemetery there.

How can I confirm the cemetery? It sounds like you folks would know. Thanks for your help.

Comments: We are tring to find the name of a cemetery located in
Oella, Md which is in Baltimore County on Rest Ave. We were
told by a neighbor that has been there for years that part
of it is private and owned by a man name White and that he
lives in a basement of a old church. She also said the cemetery has a lot of copperhead snakes and a dog was bitten and died. It is very run down and has sunken graves.
She said the state was talking about taking the cemetry over.because of the run down condition. Can anyone help me with infromation on this Cemetery.

I have located family cemeteries for Gibbons, Naylor, Baden, Greenfield, Truman, Skinner, Duvall and looking for the family cemeteries of Walls, Clubb, Murray, Adams, and Orme.

Comments:I discovered the Johnson Family Cemetery off Hawbottom Road in Frederick County when I worked as a lifeguard at the Laurel Hills County Club in the mid 50s. I was seeking the grave of Benedict D. Johnson, an employee of the B & O Railroad at the time of his death in 1855. His death at age 34 was reported in the Baltimore Sun. He left a widow, Catharine (Mullen) Johnson, and four children (John McElroy Johnson, Mary Johnson, Laura Virginia Johnson, & Benedict Aloysius Johnson). The widow's sister, Margaret (Mullen) Hessong, had a child, Mary Hessong, who was buried in the Johnson Family Cemetery. Infant Mary Hessong was acknowledged to be a descendant of Thomas & Mary (Rogers) Johnston whose children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were among the 35 buried at Hawbottom. One rough gravemarker contained three letters which were declared not relevant to the letters BDJ (Benedict D. Johnson). This Hawbottom Johnson Family was earlier known as Johnston as well as Johnstone.
