| Comments: | It is with great sadness that I have just now read of the death in June of my late aunt, Mahi Potiki in Wellington.
I had wanted to visit her so badly in recent years and all the other whanau of my late father Grahame kahui who died in 1983. All of the thirteen children of Fred and Anne Margaret have now gone to glory. I am a sad and broken woman, bursting at the seams with waiata and poetry. I am proud to be descended from Te Kahui Kararehe and Minarapa and Te Moungaroa, captain of the Kurahaupo canoe.....I have an Italian husband, two daughters the beauteous Laura and Chloe both of whom have Tongan partners, and four grandchildren, Eniselina, Mario, Meleana and Sione. I will return to Ngaruawahia (where my wonderful parents are buried) and to Taranaki and Naenae (my birthplace 66 years ago) in the new year. I want to sing and let fly with my poetry.......... |

The other news is that my sister "Pat" [Patricia Coffey]Hannam has had heart attack slowly on mend. Far as able as I rang her last night, she needs Oxgen with mask at home other than so kool ! | Comments: | researching gt grandmother mabel snook born in Patea 1896 raised by alice gordon in hunterville, father of mabel unknown, mabel half maori but have no name, iwi, hapu etc to start on, no records yet found in relation to her maori heritage, other than my grandfather vocally acknowledging that we are part maori and my dad's yes to maori decent on the electoral roll, mabel has a surviving daughter from her marriage to sydney avant but she wants nothing to do with the research and has no info to give, have been searching for years, most decendents from the children of emily and james snook have been told nothing either, emily, emelia emma, rundle, randle,randell, has been very difficult to trace also, born new plymouth in 1840, married at 15 to john ryan, he died, hence her marrying james snook with the maiden name ryan, other names connected to this family are lewis, gill,parker, gerrand, if anyone knows anything at all regarding the following please e-mail me at Rach.a@xtra.co.nz, very much appreciated. |

I am trying to do my whakapapa and even thou I am not very intelligent on computers I hope this site and the whakapapa.maori.org.nz site will help me in my indevour. My mother is Frances Edith Hau who married my father William Leslie Martin. I have heard their was a family reunion by Rotorua dump where there is a cemetary near there. I wish I was there would have been nice.I know very little about my dads side would be good to get some feed back. On my mothers side We recently had a fammily reunion in Te Poi got a small amount of information to get started on my whakapapa. My Grandparents my mothers parents are (Wiwi)Iwingaroa Edith Healy who married Sidney Hau.
