| Comments: | The update was needed because of Thermalben's changes. Amongst other things, his WoTD is now a different filename each day and has become inaccessible to me, either to use as a link in a daily page (or as my 9-5 screensaver). Only Full Circle and Loni remain old school that I can tell.
Good news abounds with both FIG's kid and the Shed's gig. Lets celebrate. |

| Comments: | Nice bit of housekeeping tc. Found myself a little lost navigationally speaking the last few days.
Alas the Rasta man has been replaced as the local daily reporter down this way. Kind of miss his quirky commentary on matters surfing and social. Last Sunday was a blast, solid and straight. A bit too straight mostly. Hooked into a fabulous barrell and came out clean as a whistle. A rare treat. Shed have scored a gig in the big smoke in March supporting The Australian Doors. A Led Zeppelin/Doors combo! Should be a hoot. Details to follow. |

| Comments: | How poignant you mention Royce. Royce Hart and James Hird should receive an Order of Australia for services to rhyming slang. The Colac herald births section eclipses all. |
| Name: | FIG |
| Comments: | Thankyou for the sensible name compliment. For your amusement I suggest that you buy the Saturday Geelong Advertiser and peruse the births section. What the great unwashed have been coming up with of late puts Jaxxon and Jett to shame. I wanted to run with Royce, but the t&s wouldn't have a bar of it. |

| Comments: | Congratulations Fig and Mrs C , as the Fonz would say! Good to see a return to traditional values a la Sam, were you ever tempted by surfcoast gems like Jaxxon or even the son of the once great Lance, Jett? Let's hope 2010 is the year of the Dog. I seemed to recall liberal doses of Johnsons Baby powder. |

| Comments: | Speaking of patriarchy, I now have another bloke on my hands. Samuel checked in on the 18th and thank god has been sleeping soundly ever since. Liam debuted in 6 inch whites beach shorebreak on a boogie board thankfully sans wig and sluggos. Will have to abstain from this site as it is unlikely that I will surf again in the next 2 years and the only powder I see is being liberally applied to a babys backside. |

| Comments: | dawn on the open beaches was the best of australia day - the last of the school holiday weekends …. and their traffic (avoided this season by not working fridays) - and although it was morning sick and the onshore came up at 7 and the set of the day landed on husehead, it was allstoke with 5’ being the biggest surf yet for a son now hooked on chasing that feeling (you know when there’s more than enough oomph), and on a day more suited to patriarchy than flagwaving it was appropriate that he almost enjoyed me dropping in |

| Name: | Door |
| Comments: | Well done team on a herculean effort, even Sally came back from the brink to complete 2 legs (stats to follow). With more training and less tapering (Humpty) and YM lifting his rating a sub 4 hour result is realistic. Finish line photo sees Humpty obscuring sponsors logo, financial support may be withdrawn pending further discussions. Captains debrief to follow.
On another matter, as this site seems to have grown another leg inas far as Rock 'n' Roll appreciation let's get those top ten lists in before the close of play. Suggested categories, Releases, Live shows, Waves, Mountains, injuries or whatever topics you deem list worthy. |

| Comments: | Hilltop Hoods with my 14yo Friday easily bettered Deep Purple the last band I saw at Festival Hall about the same age. I thought the Corner pumped last week but that didn't compare to the hip-hop beats; the clarity of the hard worked sounds, right through the range from grinding, gut busting bass to piercing guitar riffs. They used some classics – rerecorded not sampled Zep and Hendrix – but without question original. Whole lotta love was A1. I was sus at the start, with the warm up acts. Didn't know what the guy on the desk was doing. Couldn't tell what was prerecorded. Brittany Spears crossed my mind. But Hilltop dispelled all doubts. They did poetry with balls, video bright and sweet timed, scratching that even this old man got into. And the crowd, today's youth, the future, went off – fully. It was hot. |

| Comments: | I would have thought that as Viccos, wearing rubber would be second nature. Still putting yourselves to the sword is certainly the stuff of super snags, and must go a good way to offsetting the debt we otherwise eternally owe the mothers of our children. None could but be impressed. Yer Yah Yahs last night was absobloodylutely seneffensational - great musos, classic music – the corner pumped. And despite being for the show, appearance of the biker heavies really affected the mood, though nothing affected it stronger than the opening cords of Midnight Rambler. Still got shivers. Black Cab were strong and fresh in the mind but couldn’t keep us there and here and now – took a yellow taxi home just like way back then. |

| Comments: | For anyone who cares to listen Melbourne still remains the international capital of soulful rock n roll. Last Saturday night the legendary Hitmen starring Radio Birdman's own Chris 'Klondike' Masuak blistered through their back catalogue in front of about 100 die hard fans, who were rewarded in spades. Check out their reissues, light weight outfits like Pearl Jam should have a listen to understand what high energy rock is about. Further to that, Tim Rogers and his merry band of Stones addicts recreated the 1969 US tour of North America at Yah Yahs in Smith St last Wednesday night, if you love the album get a ticket to Saturday night, Friday is sold out. The note perfect sound they create and attention to pop culture detail will rock you. I will get off my soap box now, one more thing, Dinosuar Jr next year at Golden Plains, keep your eyes peeled for side shows, J Mascis is the modern day Jimmy Page, and Dan Sultan's new album is worth a listen too.![]() |

Clubhouse closeouts with the kids at lowtide (the Euroesque clubbie attire was roundly condemned by the tinlids). Finally a fabulous filthy four foot mid arvo solo sesh at the end of the road down Giza way. Only fishos for company - you know who you are - the Fwits who left empty bait bags and drink cans strewn on the high tide mark. |

| Comments: | Good to see you are so happy and upbeat TBC. A saints supporter perhaps?! Yes, the swell didn't really push through as anticipated. Press release from WA reported 30ft+ waves at Cow Bombie on the Thursday and then 'smaller' 25ft waves on the Friday. All indicators pushed me towards the forecast and the articles. I've seen similar Southern Hemisphere storm systems produce 20ft surf in California - over 6000km away. Also, I've often surfed Sunsets on swells from a similarly positioned storm system. Anyway, I've had decent feedback on the forecasts since I've been back doing it and if I do make the odd mistake I'll never learn. A bit like the old skiing adage, if your not having a few stacks, you're not trying hard enough. PS Surfed your favourite spot yesterday as it cleaned up around midday - as forecast. PPS MM has some nice Indo pics on Devilnet today. |

| Comments: | Yep, happy to report that the Chook Shop went off! Climbed the Stairway to the clouds and hovered there for a few days. If you're a bit of a hack but you want to rock and roll I have the formula. Practice like there's no tomorrow, do covers of one of the worlds great bands, and surround yourself with the best musicians you can muster. Got very lucky with the latter.

My first three attempts at getting out failed but with determination managed to finally make it with a big paddle from Jarosite. Rich rewards followed with three magnificent beasts on the 8'0. Shared with just 6 punters mostly undergunned. Ten foot set towards the end tested the lungs but heald on for a final corker. Shore break on the way in the heaviest I've had to deal with. |

| Comments: | Back in Australia 36 horas menus surf tablistas courtesy of the Corbyesque baggage handlers. I wait with trepidation to see whether the precious cargo is in still intact, no less the plethora of t shirts waiting to join the collection. It seems nothing much was missed in the past 9 weeks in Victoria. An unexpected last minute highlight of the trip was a visit to Huaraz, the Andean Sierra region of the Cordillera Blanca. Ascending to 4,500m certainly gave me a taste of what mountain hiking snow capped peaks has to offer. |

Macking early in the week after the rain cleared and all points firing and one snapped board from clean 6'+ Tallows. By late week outta the way beachies were on for solo sessions with only dolphins for company.
The new week dealt epic grom conditions at the new fave. Carnage a plenny on the primal dunes.

Had a nice solo surf on the edge of the desert 3 horas north of Lima, photos later, hasta luego. |

| Comments: | The boys flew the flag on Super Saturday. Managed to get out mid morning and snagged a couple of Bells bombs before riding one too far towards Winki and on flick off confronted the The Southern Ocean stacked to the max. Was then dealt an almighty flogging beyond the button.
Stavros and Shaw Thing with First Officer Feral then tackled Victory at Sea beyond Southside. Not a bad effort for two blokes dipping their toes into the tow world for the first time. A couple hours and some carnage later and everyone is hungry for more from the next macka swell. Woooooooooooop
Footnote: Awesome effort from one bloke getting out 3 km west of Bells at the swell peak after Mick Ray had been nailed by a never ending 15 foot set off Jarosite. |

There was an unexpected hilight of winning the major raffle prize of a $1300 pamper pack that included bugger all that would be of any use to me, but kept me in the good books with the aforementioned trouble and strife. | Comments: | After scoring good waves earlier in the day at Tommy's secret right last Thursday I went down to centrals about 6.00pm to take some scenic pics because the light was really nice. There were some nice little waves coming in over the reef with just a few guys out and got a shock when I saw GT arrive on the beach with a shortboard (not a SUP) underarm- I thought he'd retired from the shortboard! Having the camera at hand I thought I'll be able to get some pictorial evidence for those sceptical it wasn't a hoax.So after setting up on the cliff with camera and tripod with my finger ready to shoot "Pekky" carving along the face but after half an hour still no shot because the man in question was doing a fantastic job of missing every good set that came through!
