Hello there
It took a visit to the USA for me to find your home page at Invergowrie. What a good idea. I live at 23 Bilga and didn't know there was an Invergowrie Site.

I have some ideas for Community Solidarity which I will post once I get home in Oct.
Cheers for now

Mr O’Connor,

This DA is exactly the same as the one that local residents have rejected. I do not understand why it is being sent to us again.

The site is either on Mt Mitchell, where it will be an eyesore, or it is on the private road on its eastern side, in which case the only beneficiaries will be the residents of Armidale who already have adequate coverage from Optus and Telstra.

Better sites could be found on or near Mt Butler, the Pinch, or on farmland to the north of Bundarra rd. Siting this on the eastern side of Mt Mitchell will not benefit me or most of my neighbours.

I there oppose this proposal.

I have noticed some growing concern re the motorbike noise on various properties in Invergowrie. The noise is in contradiction with the peaceful character of Invergowrie and efforts must be made by our community to put a halt to this. You may not be affected now but given time, you may be affected if someone moves in nearby and decides to disturb your valuable peace. Consider someone who wants to sell their property and a potential buyer turns up only to hear revving bikes. No thanks!! The bikers are breaking the Law. We stopped the kennels and we're fighting against the tower. Now let's fight against these selfish noise makers.

I think the tower would be great for the area. About time, bring it on. If it helps with phone coverage it can only be good for the area.

http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dcp3bt8q_0dkwc4cc4 It is ridiculous that Telstra/Optus/Daly International think they can build a tower so close to a residential area. I'm against the construction of a tower ANYWHERE near a residential home. If the tower goes up within this residential zone (Zone 1(c)) it will considerably reduce housing prices in the area.
See http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dcp3bt8q_0dkwc4cc4 for more information on the tower, and on how to prepare an objection to council.
We have until Tuesday 5 May to get these to council. I recommend you post a submission by Friday to get it to them in time.

I'm horrified at the scale of the proposed Optus tower and the prominence it will have. Mt Mitchell at its peak is only 10m higher than the base of this tower, so it will be another 50m+ high on top of that. It will dominate the skyline on the drive out from town - even if you can't see the tower from your house it will affect perceptions of Invergowrie and therefore property values.
I'm all for better mobile coverage, but surely they can come up with something better than this!

I have just read the concerns of Sally and Gordon re noisy trail bikes in Invergowrie. Although I have ridden my bike on several occasions here, it has only been for 10-15 minutes at a time to test it out. Otherwise I ride out isolated fire trails and dirt roads. The point is that the high pitched whining of trail bikes that can go for hours in Invergowrie is a concern especially on weekends. Residents may be reluctant to complain as this could cause friction between neighbours but enough is enough and council needs to be informed so that appropriate action is taken. A compromise might be reached so that trail bikes can ride between certain times and areas twice a week but not on weekends for example. Let us use this site for further discussions on possible measures.

Colin's email was the first I had heard about the new tower being proposed. We certainly do need some mobile coverage out here, but when I looked at the map, I was completely in the dark about where the site for the tower was in relation to other roads, buildings etc. I have now read the letter from the resident who is preparing a submission, and can see how undesirable the location is. The map is certainly misleading and the official information is alarmingly brief. I support any action that is planned and will write to the council also.

I had not heard`detail of the proposed 'tower' until browsing e'mails tonight. Whilst such a structure would be a constant eyesore because of height and location, my main objection would be on health grounds. Emissions are dangerous (records of ongoing health problems of those subjected to same for lengthy periods). Unfortunately the ill effects may not manifest for some years but by then the damage has been done.

I am a relatively new resident - 2 years- and was attracted to Invergowrie because it is so peaceful and for the wildlife. When we first arrived we would have wallabies just sitting in the garden and the only sounds were birds. Now I am sad to say that trail bikes whine has added to the soundtrack- one which the wallabies don't like as their absence shows.
Unfortunately there seems little point talking to those who gain pleasure from turning their land into a trail bike course - they obviously are not the least concerned about the peace of their neigbours. Can this be something we all have to suffer?
Best regards,
Sally Wise

It is reassuring to see good community minded people contributing to our village life, many thanks for the time and effort in creating this wonderful web site.
Sadly as a long-term resident I’ve witnessed the destruction of the local environment such as the removal of local native vegetation reducing the animal species that once roamed our properties.
I believe there is an urgent need to put an end to the trail bikes that now have destroyed our way of life; my initial discussions with neighbours have all echoed the same sentiments so a meeting is most urgent to restore our “Piece of Paradise”.

Gordon McLennan

I have lived in Invergowrie since 1997 and it has been a pleasure to live in such a beautiful, relatively unspoilt area with an abundance of outstanding residents and wonderful neighbours. The incredible richness of the wildlife has been a constant joy and pleasure and it is sometimes through the eyes of friends who visit that I once again realise how truly lucky I am. There is however a stigma seemingly attached to the name "Invergowrie" from days gone by and even some of the local real estate agents discourage people from considering our lovely area - this of course, depending on your point of view, could be thought of as good or bad. My only fear is that new subdivisions will greatly increase traffic numbers requiring the local council to reconsider the already inappropriate speed signage in the inner areas of Invergowrie particularly between junction of Invergowrie and Bundarra Rds to Fardell's Corner and most of the roads coming of that area.
