| Comments: | I was in the first intake in 1951 . My cousin John Askew was also in the intake. He was a phtographer with Frank Packer's paper. He was appointed to take photos whilst we were at Singleton.
I haven't been able to obtain any copies of those photos although I have spoken with a number of soldiers and have rung the Singleton Camp , without success. If anyone knows of them I would be grateful. |

| Comments: | My late father, Jim Powe (d. 20/1/09), was a member of the 1st intake of the 12th Training Battalion at 'New Holsworthy' in 1955 (6 Platoon, B Company, Hut 15). He went on to complete his National Service with the Royal NSW Lancers near his family home in Parramatta.
A keen photographer, he put together a hand-made album of several hundred photos covering both the training and social (eg 'Battalion Dance 11/3/55')aspects of his time with B Coy. As he is not in many of the images (and nearly all of the negatives are with the album), I presume they were taken with his personal camera. Unfortunately, none of the people in the photos is individually named, but if there is any interest out there I would be willing to scan the images. Feel free to contact me using the e-mail address provided Brad Powe PS: For anyone who remembers his enthusiasm for steam engines, the 3rd edition of Jim's 2008 book 'Trains and Railways of Australia' has recently gone on sale! |

Andrea Sutton Looking for photos** I’m not sure if you are able to help but I am searching for any photos or information in regards to Private Lawrence Rodney Sheppard 3790566 . Larry was my parents best friend and i am looking on behalf of my mum who still struggles with his death and has only now wanted to track down information and photos off him which have been previously lost during a move. Larry did his training at Puckapunyal Army base before being sent to Vietnam. Larry was in 7 RAR originally but due to family illness he was transferred out and upon his return was in 1RAR Larry was killed during the battle of coral on may 13th 1968. If you can help me in any way it would be much appreciated as I have searched your website but cannot locate him in the photos. I was not born when Larry lost his life but it means a lot to my family and i would love to be able to track something down for them. Any help or contacts you can provide would be greatly appreciated and i am happy to pay for any provision of photos or such. Regards. | Comments: | Hi, what a great innovation. Just what is needed.
I was in 12 NSTB, enlisted 12th of the 8th month 1952. A Coy. From Dubbo, so I was then in the NSW Mounted Rifles, as a Trooper.Till 1957. Great, fabulous days, and memories. I was in a Guard in the Brigade Sports Day. It was REAL spit and polish and we were going to win with present arms like you've never seen. Well on the last break for smoko, I did not put the fag out properly and put it in the top pocked of my battledress, during the judging the bloody thing started to burn through my singlet and singe the skin, well we didn't win, because someone left the safety catch on the .303 OFF instead of ON, I think it was me, due to my being barbecued alive. |
