Comments:After reading the negative comments below I'm astonished.
I discovered Carr's Oyster Bar a few summers ago while on vacation from Victoria, B.C. and I have been more than impressed each time I've visited.
Not only is the view from each seat in the place incredible but the food is just great and reasonably priced too. I love love love this restaurant and so does my wife and family too!! We make it a point to visit Carr's more than a few times in our usual two week stay. I highly recommended it to all tourists who are visiting the area. It's a must.
I'm also an avid seafood eater and I still haven't found oyster that taste better than the ones at Carr's. The seafood sold at Carr's wharf across the river is also to die for! I just can't say enough about this restaurant!! Take my advice, if you're in the Stanley Bridge area, stop in for a great time along with a great meal!

She was an amazing hostess. We had a few businessmen fron the US in town and she took charge and left a great impression on them for her prompt and friendly service. She was tall with black hair. I would love to thank her personally.

Keep up the great work

Comments:Hi,
I'd like to tell you about a negative experience that my wife and I had at Carr's Wharfside restaurant. Last Saturday August 23rd we decided to go to your eatery to dine. It was our last night on the Island and we were celebrating our 12th anniversary.
Things started out reasonably well - the Waiter was polite, served us drinks and took our order. The food was not great but it was prompt, and since we were out on the deck enjoying the view is was adequate. The Waiter did not bother checking on us to see if everything was OK but we were enjoying the evening.
Things started to go "down hill" when we asked for our bill. The Waiter convinced us to stay by telling us that he would bring the bill later. By this time he was basically Bartending inside. We never did see him again outside serving us. After an hour of waiting for the bill we asked one of other Servers about our bill and she told us that we would have to go to the Bar to get it.
By this time the "Boat Parade" has started and we stayed on the deck to watch it. By the time we went to the bar the Waitress asked us why we didn't go to the bar when we first inquired to her. I guess I didn't realize that it was my responsiblity to chase my bill around the restaurant.
Finally, our Waiter, now acting as Bartender, did our bill for us, rang it off and slammed it on the table in front of my wife. He did not smile, he did not ask us if our food was good - basically very rude in my opinion. Needless to say we left NO tip. This is the first time in my life that I never left a tip.
You are not likely to ever see us in your Establishment again but I would suggest that you be more selective on who you have serving the public.
I have to say, I'm an Electrical Engineer and Construction Manager, if I treated people in my line of work the way I was treated by your staff I'd be a poor man, and likely an unemployed one.

Comments:I wish I had read the guest book before going to Carr's oyster bar last night. It was our last night on the island and we wanted to make it special...Well we'll never forget it. It was the worst service, worst food, the servers were impolite. The server never came back after serving our meal to see if we needed anything. he must have known we would complain. I really do NOT recommend going there. We asked for the bill and our server said he'd be about 10 minutes..after waiting over 45 minutes we told another server we had been waiting all this time for the bill, she said: "just go to the bar" Anyway, I can't believe this place still runs if a lot of people feel like we do, I can tell you, people were not impressed last night...

Comments:Hello,

Your restaurant was recommended to us as a great place to go for oysters. We were at Carr's on Mon., Sept. 10 and had a great table on the deck. We were handed menus and then waited for twenty minutes and nobody came back to serve us. We were not offered water or a drink. The waitress walked pass, caught our eye and said she'd be back 'in a minute'... well 15 minutes went by and we decided not to waste anymore of our sunny beach day waiting to be served.
We did get oysters night and great service at another restaurant.

Comments:I was at Carr's Oyster Bar late in June, one Saturday at supper time, dropped in for a lobster roll. I was not very impressed, your lobster roll had very, very little lobster and nothing else but lettuce. The price was as high as you pay anywhere on P.E.I. I kind of thought we had hit an "off" night, as the people I were with raved on about the food the last couple of years. I personally was not impressed.

I had family members go to Carr's Oyster Bar just this past week. They had been before and were very impressed, so I said nothing about the poor, tasteless lobster roll I had.

Here are there comments:
"Don't go th Carr's oyster bar to eat.....it was awful and expensive. Seafood chowder like thick paste with no sign of seafood (out of a can I think) and $6.95 a cup !!! Fried oysters were tasteless and the batter was gooie.....also expensive. Fish cakes were marginal at best BUT the beans were good ! Don't recommend it to anyone."

Why do Island business operators do this, get a good reputation and then, once they are a popular spot, raise their prices and lower the quality of their food. I personally believe one of our major problems in the tourist trade is the inconsistent service and poor quality of meals we sell at high prices.

Thanks for listening.

A very unimpressed first time customer !!!

Comments:Hi Phyllis,

My wife and I met you at your restaurant/bar back in June late one sunny afternoon while we were enjoying a beer and some of your great Malpeque oysters. We discussed how we might order some for delivery in Montreal.

I'll be calling you tomorrow or real soon about placing an order. Do you have a page outlining the various boxes (count, size, quality, etc?) and prices, including delivery? You mentioned that if we ordered enough boxes it would make a truck delivery economically attractive.

Be talking to you soon.
