| Comments: | Before visiting my great cousin (Charles A. Bodie, Jr.) last week with a geneology summary that my parents had assembled of the Polescheck-Bode/Bodie side of the family, I came across several messages from you on various geneaology sites looking for similar information. My attempts to use the two e-mail addresses I could find (aol.com and bellsouth.net domains) were closed along with your members.aol.com geneaology home page. I am hoping this Dreambook entry will work.
My mother (Anna Vickers) and her sisters, Barbara, Ora and Georgette, were daughters of Anna Polescheck/George Vickers and grand-daughter of Anna Heil (Polescheck) Bode. Anna Polescheck (surname spellings vary) and Charles E. Bode also had a son (possibly an adoption) - Charles A. Bode who apparently changed his last name to Bodie when he was of legal age. You have some information on the other Polescheck children of (Anna Heil/John Polascheck) (aunts and uncles to my mother) and I may not have much more. The 1900-1930 census and 1912-1913 Baltimore City directory summaries that you have summarized elsewhere provided some information that I didn't have and I may have additional information that you might like to see. Between our records there are possible errors and some unspoken puzzles that are difficult to track down (e.g., story from my mother/great cousin that John Polascheck abandoned his family and headed west to seek his fortune - this is about the same time as the Alaska/Klondike gold rushes - and Anna had to leave the Catholic Church because she couldn't get a divorce and couldn't produce a death notice for her first husband. No one remembers that there was any further contact with John Polascheck and his fate remains unknown). |
