Comments:My Dear Verna,

I knew Ray mostly from the Symposium in Lubbock. Please accept our deepest and most sincere condolences. We do know how the passing of a loved one can hurt.

We must at these times realize that they are now with God and the pain and suffering is only for us in our loss.

We will pray for you that you may be comforted. Rest assured that when a loved one is in God's hands they are much better off.

At the Easter time we are reminded that " HE HAS RISEN!" All those who believe in Him will also be risen and have life eternal.

May the Peace of God be with you now!

Vaya con Dios,

Rudy Gonzales

I was looking for a copy of that poem. I want to do it in hand calligraphy and frame it for a gift. I didn't see it listed in the books you offer on this site.

Is this a new one not published yet?

Thanks to Red and his show for getting your stuff out!!

Thanks,

Comments:I would love to hear you perform and present your poems. I enjoyed reading them and visiting your web site. I would like to exchange links with you. My web site is Casey's Corrall, http://wacobelle.org.

You certainly have an enviable record as a cowboy poet: one of the 10 finalists for 'Male Cowboy Poet of the Year as chosen by the Academy of Western Artists for both 1999 and 2000; named one of the "Final Five" for Male Poet of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists. I just write cowboy poetry, Ray....it's relaxing and I enjoy it. Some people enjoy vidio games...I enjoy writing poetry and reading it.

I design and publish my own web sites. That's quite an achievment for someone who never touched a computer until retirement. (I published my firt web site, about a year and 1/2 after I got my first computer....I might mention, that I actually did develop a bleeding ulcer.) I have been off of the internet as far as my web sites are concerned for about three years now. Publication of this current web site has been almost as much of a challenge now as it was when I first started. That's because, I forgot just about everything. Moroever, I was used to Front Page Editor 2000 and I had to go to Front Page 2003....and I detest it. Thank you for your kind comments about my web site. It makes all the headaches worth it. This is a remarkable poem that meant very much to us since these boots in this poem were made by my husband's father, Noble Dixon. My husband's grandfather started the Dixon Boot Company in the late 1800's in Ardmore, OK. We have many pictures of celebrities that came to Wichita Falls, TX to have their boots made by the Dixon Brothers.

Best friends in the 4th through the 7th grades, then years later, at the start of a new century, re-aquainted and still best friends...you've always been very, very talented. Your skills as a poet and a quality person are exceeded only by the loyalty and graciousness of Verna, your wife, who like mine, can't write poetry, books or stand before an audience, but whereas the world would miss you and I, briefly, it would suffer greatly at the loss of our wives who make us considerably better than we are.
