How in the world did I get so lucky as to stumble over your wonderful cartoon when it was most needed. Words cannot begin to convey how much I appreciate your work.

The Craft has sadly failed to grow and mature through the years and nowadays we have little people wishing to pursue it through the instant gratification route. Hell, they read one book and they think they have really studied. The Witch wars are still raging and there is still craziness around that was so prevalent in the 70's. At one time I had a lot of hope for the Craft, but now I just shake my head in wonder at the craziness. Perhaps there will be a change, but I seriously doubt it.

Your cartoon serves a great purpose in that it uses some humor to drive home pertinent points and gives people insight if they have the mind to begin to understand diddly-squat.

Thanks for all your hard work and may the year be filled with joy and peace.

Blessed Be!!!!!!!!!!

Great talent! The humor is cheeky enough to be rib tickling without being scathing. The art is great as it gives the imagination something visually to focus on while pondering the humor. Comic strips are truly something that sociologists & archeologists will enjoy discussing thousands of years from now for nothing else than our own views and opinions of the social order today. Thanks for the laughs. I'll pass long this site.

Perhaps I can clear up some of the mystery regarding Witchschool.com and the Correllian tradition for you. Your suspicions are correct. The Correllians don't even make it back into the Reagan years, much less the 18th century.

I knew Ed Hubbard and Don Lewis, personally, back when the "Correllian Order" consisted of a single group ("The Holy City Temple") that met under many different names in a very small room in Albany Park in Chicago that simply, physically couldn't have held more than four people, maybe five if one of them didn't inhale too deeply. Nobody in the community had heard of any centuries old order at that point. If you find an old copy of "Pipes of Pan" formerly published by Bill Erbacher, you can probably find the address for their old place.

4300 N. Hamlin, their current location, is only slightly more spacious, a walk up in a modest sized bunglow, in which Don crashed with the residents and Ed crashed with Don, because neither of them had anywhere to go, both of them being about three steps from homelessness at the time. It was about that time that Ed started soliciting "charitable donations" for "Pagan missionary work in South Africa". Ed would later on have great trouble explaining where the funds he collected went, or where he, as somebody with no visible means of support, managed to find the funds he invested in a lodge in South Africa at the same time, when he went to the conference of the world's religions in (where else) South Africa.

Hmmm. Embezzlement, anybody?

That is how Ed and Don got their beginning. Not through the support of any mystical order dating back to the time when the Scottish Witches married in with the Cherokee, a story which drops me to the floor laughing because the two of them are as Anglo-Saxon as Anglo-Saxon can be. They profited by preying on the generosity of others and then made up their own story after the fact.

There was the pesky business of the large - truly large - number of long time members of Ed and Don's Pagan community in Chicago who had been around long enough to know that the Correlian trad's story was BS. Ed and Don dealt with that problem proactively by going after many of us who, having not followed the politics of the community, were willing to have the two of them as friends and had been given reason to think of them as such. You've seen don engaged in mud slinging. He and his slowly growing pool of associates made quite a career of it, so tirelessly and with so much skill that a once flourishing community was all but destroyed.

I'll spare you my own personal tale of woe. Suffice it to say that what followed is why, to this day, I will not allow prospective members for the second incarnation of my group to contact me through the Internet. Our crime was that we tried to start a independent newsletter for the community, one that Don and Ed's friends would not be in charge of. For this, we were made the target of a crude but effective whispering campaign, and a level of harassment that made many of our members decide that they never wanted to have anything to do with Paganism again.

What sickens me is not that the HCT would stoop so low in their search for a level of success which honest work never brought them. What sickens me is that this is what religion has become, an embrace of corporate ethics at their very worst done in the name of the Divine, so much so that somebody like those two could lie, cheat, backstab and steal their way to the top and people would think that was admirable.

Spirituality like that, one can find on a late night informercial.

I was a fan of 9LMM and sighed heavily when it was finished up. Tonight I went back and read it through from the beginning to the end. You did something good there, and I really think that...it needs to be in print, as a comic book. Now when I get the lottery numbers from my familiar I will spot you the cash. So far my mystick skills have revealed to me that when he says "arf" he wants dog food, or there's someone at the door, or he itches. I'm never quite sure because my third ear chakra is not yet opened. But in Ravenstar's new book there's a Majgiyk Ear Cleansere spell, so who knows. It involves a Kew Tippe, which she says is some kind of wandlike object.

I digress. Just wanted to drop the idea of making a comic book out of it on you. Something to store away.

I must step in and agree with The Cosmic Knowledge Fish--the stories are not ended until they pry Zak's stylus from his cold dead hand!

Fear not! Fun and mayhem will once more erupt from his psyche. I will likely have a hand in the new stories that come forth--well, I better, since I am the coauthor of the novels he wants to work on more seriously now.

But there will be more to come. Watch this space. And a few others that he will likely link you to. And be ready for other interesting ideas to come forth.

Because they will.

For those of you who know Zak, you know this is in no way the end.

I remember when NLMM was drawn out on paper. He put it away to work on other items, (most notably the idea of drawing on a <GASP> computer!) and we all said, "NO! NONO! Don't stop!" But he shrugged, and smiled, and began work on something else that blew us away with it's blend of beauty, humor, and pointed wit.

Then, 9LMM returned in this digital form almost a decade after I first saw it, far more eloquent and beautifully rendered than it was then.

I have no doubt it will return in some other form, more glorious than ever. But for now, I certainly do understand.

Now, the times, they are a'changin for P Zachariah. New house and new life in a new town, (actually the same town that we were both living in when first saw NLMM lo those many years ago,) and a fresh start at that family plan.

He has many more stories to tell. Maybe not in this strip, but here on Crazyquilt Arts. I hope to have a part in the creation of some of those stories.

Thanks for the run, Zak. It's been a wild ride, and I'll miss it. But I'll also be here for whatever metaphysical curveball that we call "Your Art" that you throw at us next!

i'm sorry that you have decided to close this strip, but at the same time, i fully understand the why as you've explained it. you did bring a wonderful end to it, but also left it open so that if you were ever to feel so inclined, we could see the occasional rebirth of the strip. i would hope you would not seal this particular book shut, but rather explore your other venues and consider the possibility of picking it back up when time and inclination strikes.

9LMM merchandise for the new year? T-shirts, mugs? Foamy merchandise sells well and Mal hits a similar market; the cat+toad pairing is stronger, too.

Personally I would love the raven pecking out the eye, on a T, but perhaps thats not the one with broadest appeal....
