I was wondering if you would be willing to compose a piano song based on the Pachelbel Canon theme, as George Winston has done ("Variations on the Kanon") and David Lanz as well ("Variations on Pachelbel's Canon in D"). There are many appreciators of Pachelbel's Canon, for whom George Winston's and David Lanz's songs, served as an introduction to the piano. Myself as an example, one day I heard "Variations on the Kanon", and the next day bought myself a digital piano (Yamaha-DGX 500) to play the song (with no previous background in piano playing whatsoever). It took me a year of self-learning, I'm now able to play "Variations on the Kanon". In addition, using my digital piano, a friend of mine, Peter Ng composed his own song based on the Canon theme, which I've uploade here on my canon website, which also includes links to George Winston's Variations on the Kanon and David Lanz's Variations on Pachelbel's Canon in D. Just surfing the Net for others doing what I do and came across your site. I visited Singapore a couple of years ago to play for the Royal Academy of Dancing International Summer School. I really enjoyed my stay - and very appreciative of an air-conditioned studio to work in!! I can't remember the name of it now, it was somewhere along the waterfront road heading to the airport, upstairs in a shopping area. I managed to do a bit of sight-seeing while I was there - and of course lots of shopping! Do you enjoy accompanying for ballet? I expect it's just something extra for you to do whilst your studying - good luck with your degree by the way, and - you're right - S$12 per hour IS lousy!!!!! Bye! P.S. "Secret Garden" is also on the CD player constantly in our house - Magical!! |

Must say you are very musically inclined, aren't you? FUnny, but I somehow share the same background with you, except, I don't intend to go into the musical line as my career. I learned to play the piano when I was 5, and then picked up violin at 10. By 11 or so, I was already playing with the different orchestras in KL, and had the opportunity to play in Singapore as well. My favourite producer is also David Foster! What a surprise! And I have been actually experimenting with my Canon camera and my 300 mm lens. So far, so good! Just hope that it will snow here soon so that I can take some really awesome shots! Well, most of my shots were taken in the US and also in Europe. ANyway, another time.... Well, hope all's going well for you at NTU. Not a stress-free area, I must say. enough....let me make a move now. Anyway, would be nice to hear from you. Regards, Janine |
