Message:Hello old friends

A YIS version of 'Friends Reunited' - excellent!

Reading all the names and messages from days or yore made me feel all nostalgic.

Well I'm living in Hong Kong if anyone is heading out this way. Am married (no kids yet) and make a living as a public relations manager for Australia's Tourist Commission. Yes that's right - a Brit promoting Australia to Asians.

One of the benefits of the job is getting to catch up with Debi Bradley in Sydney!

Will forward to big brother John Berry who is still crazy about guitar and lives in Nottingham.

By the way the 'homepage' is the site we used for my wedding last year. John is going to post wedding shots on there imminently to check it out if you're interested...

Love and peace to you all,
Louise

Message:Hard to believe but 13years have past
since graduation!! Surely do miss those field trips,
food runs to GG mini mart, Friday night out at Izaks
arond Kannai Station and so forth. For those that are
out of town, nothing really has changed around here in
Yokohama except McDonalds no longer exists at the
end of Motomachi. KFC and Tower Records is still there-
incase you were worried. The YIS campus seems to be expanding every year and can't really keep up with which building belongs to whom.
YCAC is still the same and I currently live right behind
Yamate's 7eleven convenience store which is right in front
of the station but nothing has changed around there too.
Its kinda wierd to see YIS kids lined up at the bus stop
(waiting for the#20 bus) every morning on my way to work.

Some of the recent people I've met around here are
Ryu Hariu (father of twin-girls), Chris Wada, Yota Wada (father of baby girl), Zhao, Rumi & George Kumazawa, Jeff
Stockwell, Zulian, Merner Brothers, Tina Miki,Hiroaki Fujita, Maya Joko,Min-Sung, Ronnie, Mabo and Paul Miles.
They all seem to be doing well. I got married in Nov of 2003 and plan to move back to Los Angeles sometime next year. If anyone is planning to visit Yokohama sometime soon,
please let me know.

Thats my update for now. For those that I have not met since
graduation, hope you're doing well and best of luck.

Message:All,

It has been quite awhile since I even thought of my friends at YIS and it seems like it was a lifetime away. I am presently a sys admin/Project Manager for a company called Genentech, in SSF ca. Almost married at this point. Believe me I am the last to have thought that may ever happen. Home prices here in the bay area are monstrous with the mean average around 600k American dollars. Ill be ready to buy next year. Wait, thats what I said last year!?!

Its good to see some familiar names here. Hendrik, Andrew, Steven, Katie, Gretchan, Ben, Mark, Yui, Yota, Zvia, Honeru, Nao, Cisca, John, I hope life has given you all exactly what you were looking for. I would love to see you all and hope one day we can have a reunion of sorts.

Please drop me a line if you get the chance as I would love to catch up with all of you.

I've been back in NYC for the last 2 years after a brief stint in Boston. Somewhere along the line I married the most amazing girl and then 4 months ago we had a baby! Lily is just amazing, she's a little crazy but that's just about what you would expect.

Life is on the whole incredible, working a bit too much, sleeping way too little, but having a good time.

Would love to reconnect w/ everybody. Anyone planning to go to the retirement party? What's the deal with a class reunion?

Wow, congradulations! for you and your sister! Bringing kids into the world? I hope to have rugrats of my own someday, although now is not a great time for me, although sometimes, the kids can kinda come along unexpected anyway, right? Not sure if it's the same case for you or not, but sometimes I am surprised that I have been able to dodge the old stork from making such a delivery to me - at least, so far.

For some reason I've found I've enjoyed trying to follow along with what everyone has been up to. Seems like this website is alright for that - although it seems like it can be hard to find too. I am guessing this because you can see a lot of different people have posted, but then ya never hear from them again...

Even "Harry" has been noticably silent...

For me, it's usually a case of getting busy and not being able to check over here except for when I can.

And if I ever travel, I hope I can catch up with everyone sometime, although that seems to be easier said than done.

Anyways, thanks for the update & chat w/ ya more later!

This might be a shocker for y'all. I'm a cop now. In Durham NC. How the heck did I end up here? Well, I guess I had orginally intended to return to military service after I finished school, but becoming involved with my then-girlfriend/now-wife changed my mind to stay in the area where she is now going to med school. Can't say I love it as much as I hoped, but I am almost finished with my training, and then I'll be able to decide how much I like this job or not. I grew up here and liked the area so it wasn't too hard to stay.

How many of you are out there just "lurking" but not posting? Let's here from y'all. I'm getting annoyed by the spamsters that are cropping up now. Alrighty then, chat w/ y'all later!

Where do I begin? My sister just emailed me this site and Wow!! It's really brought back some memories. I was in YIS in '86 and '87 in grade 8 and 9 and It would be great to know what's happened to everyone.

I now live in Australia and I work as an Intellectual Property Lawyer with a Govt. Arts organisation called ACMI, specialising in artistic films and installations. It's new and it just opened in Melbourne's Federation Square, hyped asthe biggest Art Precinct since the Sydney Opera house. It's fun and exciting and attempting to be cutting edge..

I would especially love to know what's happened to Mr Mee, an English teacher originally from Colorado, Shyoko Honiden, Christabel, Rasmus Johanssen, Annette and Katie...Well everyone in the class of '91 really.

Good luck to everyone and best wishes.

I chose 2 believe the latter, but if it's the former, I'se gotta get me some more recreational activities!

I guessed that it had been lost into electronic never-never land, so I was surprised to see it when I checked here this morning, but then again, I was happy that I wouldn't have to retype that thing again...

As far as finding this place again, google (the search engine) works great no matter where I am, so I don't even have a bookmark, besides the fact that some of the links don't seem to be working, I just enter "yokohama international school alumni" and click on the most promising looking links to get me here, but I guess I'll shut up b/c I can't say that I can put together a better webpage, so who am I to be critical? Considering the fact that some of the old link pages might not work, I wonder if that is part of the reason that postings are so few and far between but I digress. I think this is enough BW for today so I'll just end todays post here ---> X

Message:Just reading through the dreambook... Its New Year's Eve and I'm getting ready to go out...

Anyway- just wanted to say that I'm rather dissapointed in the people who wrote the last few comments. I'm sure that they have their reasons... but I just wanted to say that there are quite a few of us out here who feel differently. The years at YIS were the best of my life. Quite often I find myself wishing that I could turn back time and re-live them. I regret that I did not appreciate what I had at the time.
I left YIS in 11th grade and moved to Bangladesh. Attended the only international school in the country, and then prompty got expelled from it half way through my senior year- for having a low grade point average. ha! well- that is a long story- and I won't bore you with it. However, I'd just like to say that, as far as I am concerned, I think the teachers and staff at YIS were brilliant. And I want to say thank you.

Mr Reilly- for attempting to teach me to sing in key (although my husband sort of questions whether or not you actually succeeded!!! hehe)

Mr Stanworth- for attempting to teach me math (if only you had been there when i was struggling through calculus!)

Mr.Mee- I know I probably drove you up the wall during our discussions in English classes, but I have to say that I really enjoyed them. You might have had different opinions, but you never told me mine were wrong...

Mrs. Bernard- you made me enjoy learning Japanese. I'm still trying to figure out how you eventually got me to turn in my homework on time... !!!

Mr. Bernard- for talking me into staying in school, after all those times I tried to run away in the second grade!!

Mr.Klymo- (did I spell that right!!!?) you made history my favorite subject.

Mr Langley- i looked forward to your classes! you made science fun!!! (and by the way- did we ever tell you that we used to count the number of times we could get you to go off the subject and tell us stories??) hehe (And did we ever look forward to those food-fairs!!!)

Mr. Matsumoto- how you managed to sommersault over my shoulders when I was trying to learn judo in 7th grade I'll never know!!! Thank you for giving us confidence and making us believe we could do anything!!!

Helen- Thank you for all the hours upon hours you spent working at making us the best field hockey team in the kanto plains!!!

Stellarc- for all the times you let me mess up your art room :-)

And finally- Mr Tanner, thank you for caring about us.

Not until I left YIS did I realise how lucky I was to have attended such a great school. I had a wonderful time, both on and off campus. We had some great teachers, some great friends, some really really good times.

And although I am not the best at keeping in touch, ok- so I'm absolutely terrible at it!!- I just want you all to know- I'm thinking about you, and I wish you all the very best of wishes in the New Year.

Happy Holidays,
Christina.

Message:Hi Guys,

I must admit that reading your messages does bring back some good memories.

Hendrik-Jan, back in Rio again? You always knew how to get the best out of life. Let me know how you池e doing.

Congratulations Gretchen. A PhD and a kid. I知 not even going to pretend to know how much work that must be(!). Best wishes to Aidan.

Cisca, a broken collarbone is annoying but I知 sure you will tough it out and get your licence. Please pass on my regards to my old diving instructor (he trained me well and I earned my 'rescue diver' certification a few years later).

Katie, Good to hear that things are going well. How about trying sea kayaking, not quite the same adrenaline rush as skydiving but an expedition of 5-10 days can have its share of hairy moments.

The world cup is a touchy subject for Dutchmen at the moment John. Nevertheless it痴 good to know that one-half of YIS痴 選ron wall (tournament champions 90, 91) will be present at a tournament that is being held in our own 礎ack-yard (Yokohama Stadium)!

Andrew, hope your enjoying yourself as a recruitment consultant (then again, there is no doubt in my mind that you are having a blast in London).

I know some of you have already mentioned it but why don稚 we try and organize a reunion. I知 willing to organize things (either in Amsterdam or in London) but I値l need to know who wants to attend and when.

Keep in touch
Steven

I should have signed this book much earlier though time is
short as we all know.
At the moment i am sitting at home because i broke my collarbone (during motorcycle lessons, it happend one day before i had to go up for my licence, unlucky me).
I am living in The Hague (together with Fred and my two cats) and working at a notary office. My dad is living near London, so if anyone of you lives there or close to London we might arrange a "see again day" (let me know) ofcourse you're also invited at our place if your're in the Netherlands.
Overall I'am doing great, and having a good time.
My memories of Japan are still giving me a good feeling, hope to hear from you all.
love Cisca
