Alastair Chuah [e] [h]
Hello,

My name is Alastair Chuah and I am speaking on behalf of a band called Flukestar, who have a passion for performing and writing songs.

Flukestar, what are they about?

Based in Bristol and the surrounding, they are a strong circle of school friends who formed a band in 2003 and haven’t looked back since. In fact they are going to be soon celebrating our five year anniversary. And what a five years it has been, a constant stream of ideas with new songs being written all the time, whilst also maintaining a consistent performance schedule.

Located on our Myspace you can listen to some tracks from our album “Ride the chariot”. A fourteen track disk of some of our older material which was recorded in mid 2006. Initially five hundred copies were pressed, and these have all sold for a minimum of £5.pounds. However it must be said that we feel this does not represent their best work.

They will be recording a new EP within the month and they would like very much for you to listen to this when complete as we feel this will be more representative of where they are now.

Recently they have featured in Bristol Venue magazine who reviewed us at a recent show;

“Flukestar are a shockingly young, labrador puppy-friendly, with strong songs, outrageously precocious musicianship with a very keen audience!”

Within the five years together they have played at a great number of events, ranging from Birthday Parties through to Main Stage festivals. Every performance they play with the same enthusiasm and level of energy regardless. Therefore I feel that they have the experience needed to support Cutting Crew at any of their available gigs or tours.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy the Myspace.

www.myspace.com/Flukestar

Yours sincerely

Alastair Chuah

Hi, this is a message for Colin Farley, if this is a good way to contact him. Here is a rave from the past Colin, you shared a house with my then wife Annie and Pat a mate of mine and me and Sue, In Hooley, Surrey. I heard from Sue recently and she told me that you had gone on to join Cutting Crew after we all left the house. Great to hear that you went on to do good things in the industry that you loved so much. If you happened to want to chew over those old time ever, just drop me an email mate.
Cheers and good luck with what sounds like a great revival.

Hi Nick
Excellent performance at Wembley. I was so gutted that you only did 2 songs. Would've thought that you would at least been able to play One for the mocking-bird & Any colour even though they didn't chart in the UK top 40.
I tried to see you after the gig but the guy at the stage door said that i had to contact you myself on the phone before he'd allow me to see you.
This upset me a little but i'll see you anyway in 2 weeks time at both gigs.
all the best
Matt

P.S. There was no merchandise at the Here & Now of your stuff (T-Shirts, CD's) which i think was a shame as i reckon that people would have brought cd's

Hi Guys, I was at Wembley the other night, couldn't wait to see Cutting Crew - I saw you what seems like a thousand years ago now back in the day, loved it then, loved it now; wished you could have played for longer.
When you finished I yelled out "I love Cutting Crew" and got a cheer for my trouble!! Hope I can catch you at Botley.
Cheers,
Gav.

Hi Nick

Thanks again for making my evening complete at Birmingham - it was great to meet you in the bar and such a shame you weren't able to do more songs. But it was quality rather than quantity and I really hope to hear more. Take care and hope the rest of the mini tour goes well.

Saw you play at the Here and Now tour at Brighton last night. Wow! You sounded exactly the same as you did when you first released these songs. You are fantastic and thank you! Mandy xxx

hello Nick,
I am a fan living from India and last week a friend gave me Broadcast...(mp3 sadly)
Its amazing how i was transported back when your hits were very popular in this part of the world..
All my musician friends had a special listening session for the entire album recently.. and it was touching..the melodies, progressions and the soul..
In my opinion a good composition scores well above mindless skill based jamming...
Its a shame that we cant buy the CD for even 3 dollars!

Hey Nick,

Met you briefly backstage at the Brighton Centre via musical director Erwin.

Didn’t really know too much about the Cutting Crew but felt your performance was tremendous & dare I say it without intending to take anything away from the other acts, was a cut above the rest.

Interesting to learn from your website that you worked with Chas Chandler… one of my best friends (George ‘Porky’ Peckham) also worked with Chas up at Portland Place, with myself spending a good amount of time there during the 80’s.

Anyway, I hope you remember me – I live in Kemptown & do a show on Radio Reverb. It would be great if you could come in for an interview sometime soon.

Looking forward to hooking up shortly.

All the best,

Dear Nick and Band,

Delighted to see you’re coming to Glasgow, sorry we won’t make it as I’m not well just now.
Have seriously good memories of your gig and the “After-show party” at the Famous Bein Inn, Glenfarg last year – Good Friday 6 April – you were all kind enough to pose with us for photos and sign album sleeves. I have to say of all the gigs I’ve been to, it remains my favourite – it was simply fantastic. I’m so glad there’s a live version of “DIYA” on Myspace – as I said to you last year, Gareth is some guitarist!
Anyway all the best for 10 May – tell me, is it possible to get on your mailing list to find out about future gigs in this neck of the woods?

Cheers, hoping to hear from you soon.

Hi Nick!

I was driving along this afternoon through a cold rain/snow mix here in Colorado and what should come on my XM radio? Yep, my favorite ballad of all time "I've Been in Love Before". Can't even begin to tell you how great it was to hear it from start to finish without all the dj chatter. There is something about your voice and the melody of that song that literally transcends me to another place.

As a long time CC fan, it is great to have you back performing and in the public eye again, and I really hope you might consider a stop here in Denver. Outdoor mountain summer concerts are awesome, and there are some terrific venues here. (BTW, my sister-in-law is a concert promoter and could probably help in booking some U.S. dates). If you like, I can put in a shameless plug...

At any rate, I can now blame you for having a song that I cannot get out of my head for the last 20+ years!!!

Nov. 7th... This would have been Kevin's birthday... and, of course, I am playing a few songs in honor of my brother. His spirit lives on and the Cutting Crew music still plays a major part of my life, remembering the good times he had with the Band and of course, the travels abroad with you live on stage! How can we ever forget those magical moments of Kevin on stage playing that old guitar!

Many happy memories of Kevin live on.... and I know we all truly miss him and his great musical talent he was born with!

Just wanted to say hello and pay tribute to Kevin on this special day of November 7th.

Hope to see you in Halifax sometime in the near future. Thanks for being there for him during the last part of his life!

Cheers for now!

Hey Nick

I just found out that Died In Your Arms is finally on a Singstar game on PS2.
The game is called Singstar - Power Ballads & is released this friday.

I now have to setup my PS2 as i haven't played it in 5 years because of owing both Xbox & Xbox 360.

From the begining back in '86 to current - from "Broadcast" to now - the music still outlasts, outplays the rest - simply the best!

April 20,1987.... I first heard your song I Just Died In Your Arms on the radio in a hotel in Kissimmee, Florida. It was moving up the charts in the US. Aretha Franklin's song was No. 1 that week. I was drawn in by the musicianship and the atmospheric pop of the song. I loved the follow up singles. I didn't hear your album until 1992, but I loved it! I also heard the 1989 follow up, but didn't hear anything else by you. Maybe you recorded other albums later on or took a much needed break. But I am so happy that you are back with a new album and touring once again. Even a big show with lots of lights, as I saw clips of it on your website! They still play your old 80s songs a lot here--people still love your music! It feels full circle to hear you again. I will definitely get the album if it comes out! No VH-1 Behind the Music sob story here--you are BACK and ready to ROCK! Tear up some stages this year!

Nick,
I remember you so well when you were with the Drivers - I used to come and watch you play at The Cartoon in Croydon and have some fab photos of you all playing.

I will listen out for your new stuff, I know it will be brilliant.

Love
Georgie
