Without doubt our favourite place for a drink is the Mumbles Rugby Club, and we can always look forward to a warm welcome and a great pint of Welsh ale. My first time visiting the club was over a thirty years ago, and despite the changes every where else in Mumbles it is good to see that nothing has changed within the club, thank you and keep it up.
Skinny, not sure if you remember I was drinking at the bar a few weeks ago with my brother Neville? Great night thanks for your hospitality, and more importantly I hope your fried who was drinking at the bar had a successful operation. I visited Mumbles in August on my friends sisters Hen doo. ( I know it sounds a bit strange!! ) and stayed in the Carlton hotel where I noticed Dudley Kingswinford's pennant behind the bar which is what made me aware of your club. We havn't had a tour this year and have really missed it which is why I suggested yourselves to our committee as a possible venue. I noticed that your second xv have no commitment on Saturday 20th March next year which would suit us down to the ground. I know this is your guest book and I would be grateful if the jist of my note could be passed to whoever is best your end. I have and will continue to try and speak to Mark at your clubhouse also. | Comments: | Well done to the second xv against Waun. Put together some good tries with some good interplay between forwards and backs.Strong front row and pack in general creating effective scrums and drives, line out functioned well in strong wind.
On the down side, pitch needs a good cut, long grass uneven in many places and can't dogs be banned from the pitch areas? It is gross that the game was held up to clean the ball. Couldn't Mumbles Community council get something moving on dog bins, bags and notices. |

| Comments: | I am the president of the Dallas Rugby Football Club and we have a player that is interested in playing in Wales. I played in Wales on tour in the late 70's for a team out of Oregon and we had two or three Mumbles players stay in Dallas and play for us after your tour here in the 80's. Anyway, we have a great player that is currently in New Zealand playing for Harbour in the Otago Premier division. He has played about 50 premier games in the division. He played for the USA U-19 team in 04' and 05' and was their MVP in South Africa in 05'. He plays wing in New Zealand but can play 12 or 13 (that is his best position). He started his rugby career playing first division men's rugby in Texas at 16, played for Texas at 18, the West at 18 (both 15's and 7's) and played in the USA 7's pool as well as the U-19 USA teams. He is 24 years old and 198 pounds.

Dear Club We would like to invite you to the 4th Annual Beach Rugby Wales Tournament at Swansea Beach, To defend you title(in front of the Civic Centre, Oystermouth Road) on Saturday 25th July 2009. First match kicks off at 12.00 Registration starts from 10:30am. With a bit of luck, some nice weather and with the sea lapping at the touchline. I’m sure you’ll agree the beautiful surroundings of Swansea bay will provide the perfect backdrop. This is a great way to regroup players for the new season at a friendly and fun tournament. As well as lots of trophies and prizes up for grabs, our kind sponsors Kiwi Sports, Neath will award a 7’s strip for the winning team. Food and drink will be available at the pitch side to purchase. There is also free car parking available at the Civic Centre for all players and spectators. Swansea’s Walkabout Bar have kindly again sponsored the event where there will be a reception for participants following the tournament on Wind Street as part of the evening social event. Teams of ten should be entered on the attached sheet and returned with a cheque for £50 made payable to A C Walters by 1st July 2009 (cheques will net be cashed untill 2 weeks before the competition). Mumbles are sending a team i think plus there will a number of the professional sides and army Sevens. Standard is always very high. It is on August 4th. Not so good in the rain. If you hang around unil the end of August the Cracker sevens are on in Underhill Park August Bank Holiday Sunday I think. |

PS - I met up with Hooly for a beer in Dubai last month and watched his team play. I write about the unfortunate incident that occured on this Saturday gone following the Welsh match with the Pacific Islands. Never before in my 20 years of bus driving and 10 years touring with the Fun Loving Criminals have I witnessed such a drunk bus. I understand due to driver/passenger confidentiality I am unable to reveal the nature of my complaints but would like to issue the following rules for following trips. 1. No Ginger fat props allowed 2. Big Second Rows only allowed on bus if Brother B is willing to take all responsibility for looking after said Second Row 3. Silverbacks only allowed on bus if accompanied by a large box of tissues 4. Should any players need to rush to hospital on route, they are unable to take refreshments with them for consumption in waiting rooms 5. When a trip is organised to go watch the rugby, can all passengers please ensure they actually watch the rugby 6.
