Awesome

Hey Dan, long time no speak. Torika sent me your pics of your new pad. It looks amazing. Not sure if you remember me from the DUSA trip to Central.
We had such a fab and fun time out there.
I am not working at DUSA anymore, it certainly isn't the place that it was when we were there. Take care and don't work too hard. Keep in touch.

Jealous... if I were still in K-W

Hey Dan!
The site looks great, love the views from your condo! As my comment above says, I'd definitely be jealous if I were still living in Kitchener... but Montreal is great! The cold is a little hard to handle, but the summer is going to be amazing.

Keep living it up in B.C.!

Tuesday I'll be Flyin to Spain

Hey everyone! So I've just been winding down this past 2 weeks the first week I was in a village and the 2nd I've spent here in London at Earlscourt. Just been working on work and my website getting ready for the next chapter of this trip. With more free time the days do go by kinda slow but thats alright its relaxing. I've created a new poll and added the photo albums for all of my Greece sailing adventure! Since I was low on time I didn't write the journals or make the videos for these sections but I thought you'd like to see the pics in any case. So here you go! I've been here in Europe for almost 2 months and one more to go =) My close friend Brandon will be meeting up with me Spain which will be fantastic! I can't wait to see ya man! A bit homesick.

Updates!

Hello all! I made it to Titchmarsh a small village a bit over an hour away from London by train =) Population here is under 600 and wow is it nice (maybe like Tilsonburgh?) =) Its just great stepping away from hostels and travelling and settling into a nice family home. Lisa (A friend I met on tour), Kim and their Aunt Sylvia have been kind enough to have me stay at their beautiful house for a week whiles Brad and Doug (a guy we met on tour) go off to Ireland. I decided to hang back and enjoy normal life for a bit. The plan is to move somewhere warm next week and settle down there for the rest of the trip. I still got a month and a half to go!

Time to rest!

Its been a whirlwind these past weeks! I'm soo tired now...
In the Six weeks in Europe I've been to: London, Scotland, Paris, Florence, Greek Isles, Rome, Venice, Austria (St. Johann), Germany (Heidleberg), Amsterdam and now I'm back in London. =) Earlscourt to be exact! =) spending the rest of the time (6 weeks left) to work more and just relax... No travel plans as of yet I think I'm just gonna bum around and work maybe one short trip at the end before I head back home to see you all =) Been too disconnected from the world for the past few weeks its sooo nice to be back again =)

Some Highlights of my trip so far: I biked through the Swiss alps and repelled down waterfalls and jumped into canyons in Austria. Sailing in Greece was wicked! I've taken over 1000 photos already hehe =) hope to get those updated on my site soon but hey its gonna take some time guys! hehe well hope to hear from you all! Miss my Watermelon =(

Allo Allo =)
So after sleeping for 11 hours me I got to meet our other roomates very cool and friendly one from London and the other from Dublin. Today we spent at the British Museum it was spectacular! Truely amazing. Its really huge we spent the better part of the day looking at ancient Rome/Greece, Sudan, Egypt and tomorrow we hope to see the rest including; Medieval Europe, Asia, and something else haha we don't know yet... Also we're extending our stay in London for one more day... Too much to see.. then we may go up and around the UK (Ireland, Scotland?? we'll see) Our plan is to move south as it gets colder =) haha =p One thing I noticed are the clean streets and very few street people from my observations. I feel quite safe but still aware. Also it is truely expensive here which is why our stay isn't going to be that long in London.

To all those emailing me thanks! Miss ya all and hope to update you as often as I can with my adventures! Day 2 of 91 muahha. Booya

Time is ticking before my departure and I still have much to do... When I settle down a bit I'll post a few new blogs. I have them in que I just gotta sit down and write a journal entry for each, format the photos, compile the videos and upload it =)

Errands

Today I took time off and just did some stuff to prep for my trip. Went to the dentist... all good, then went to the eye doctor... my prescription changed. I got new lenses for my glasses 265.00 ouch!

I think my camera has a defective shutter trigger... I came to this conclusion after testing new models at Futureshop and the Sony Store. So I drove to the sony repair depo to get serviced... it should be fixed by next week or they give me a new one =) good thing I got a warranty! phew =)

Time Capsule

Wow it took me forever but I finally finished adding all the albums to the events shown in the menu (still gotta scan my newZealand photos and post my other Ozzy trips). Now its time to start on the videos... Once I finish posting the past events I can start a regular routine where I only post one full mblog (journal, album, and video) every week or so. Some may be wondering why I put so much effort into this...Well its a scrapbook of my life, I'm doing this more for myself than for anyone else...I just happens that its easy to share pieces of my life with those that choose to indulge in it. Hopefully this site will go on for years to come with hundreds of memories archived.

2 weeks of clothes, 3 months... Could you survive?

My trip to Europe has been confirmed!! Yippee! With my tickets in hand all I need to do now is get my affairs in order. I'll be leaving early Sept. and I'll be back the 2nd week of December. =D Got some cheap tix too! Just over $600.00, roundtrip. With only two bags... One daypack/laptopbag and one monther backpack, it will truly be a backpacking adventure =D

Sleepless Nights...

I can't sleep... Getting excited about my eurotrip! I can't wait! I'm thinking about moving back home soon to save some money. I'll decide soon...

When my new camera arrives shortly, I'll be able to get even more content up! Now the question is what do I do with the ever expanding tree menu? I'm thinking about adding top tabs to break them up) =D So far my web design seems to be working well, its easy to update and manage, I still wanna add a map feature and have it load faster but that will have to wait for now. I'm also thinking of adding a real-time chat area like msn messenger, just for fun =) Still working on my cartoon storyline and game idea... haha it never ends =)

I'll be trying to travel as much of Europe as possible in 4 months and in that time every so often update my site with a new mblog =) Probably from an internet cafe muahaha. I'm soooo excited I can't wait!

Woke up @1:30am

Testing out the Sony DCR-HC30. Its alright I would prefer a jog wheel over the touch screen. And I'd like a manual focus ring! How can someone manual focus with a touch screen! Its touch to keep steady but very small. I also find it a bit tough to get my content on my computer, not as easy as a digi cam. Also since its on miniDV it has to play through the whole video to transfer it to the computer then it takes more time to convert the video into a DVD or VCD. About 3 hrs for 30 mins in my tests... I think I'm gonna return this model and wait for the second generation of camcorders. SOLID STATE BABY! I know I'm a techno geek...

Other News: Went to Last Bomber party probably ever in my life! It was packed full of people with booze and great DJ's.

Aussie Vids and Thinking Ahead

I haven't had any luck finding a camcorder that can read my miniDV Tapes so I'm gonna go shopping for one soon =) I can't wait to post those ones up!!! Ones I actually took while I was away! I haven't really seen the video myself either! I can't wait =)

Current News: After the positive remarks at the Filipino reunion I decided to keep my Mohawk hehe. Yes thats right, people actually like it! I think I'm gonna start applying for partTime english teaching in Japan or Korea so if I go to Japan or Korea in January I can do my freelance but also teach english on the side. Why you say? Well, I love teaching so I may as well get more experience and its a great opportunity to meet other people. Working freelance is fun but it can be fairly isolating.

Undefined

If you click on a section and there isnt anything showing up for a while or it says undefined that means I haven't put the content up yet. Sorry for the confusion its basically the Australia, Grad Trip, and Dragonboat folders that dont have anything in them yet but that will change shortly... In the future only full or semi full blogs will be posted...

Current News: The Beach was awesome, that blog should be up tonight! Today I'm going to a Philippines reunion thing at the park, mostly my relatives I can't wait! =)

Current news... I'm keeping my Mohawk for awhile =) I just watched 'I robot' yesterday with my brother Dominic, it was good like the animatrix! Today I'm going to Wasaga Beach still debating if I should bring our dog.

Sony's DSC-W1!! I want it!

Been quite busy the past week but I will be releasing new blogs shortly! I got the content just need the time =) My sleeping scheduale is all messed up after I worked 16hrs straight... [deadlines] I'm close to purchasing a digital camera for myself, the Sony DSC-W1. It has a sweet 2.5inch LCD, can record TV quality videos [640x480 30fps limited to card size], 5 mega pixels, semi manual options and the size of a Canon Elph! [about a deck of cards] I can't wait to get it! Then I'll have more of my own pictures and videos to display!

Dragonboat and my funny walk

Dragonboat season is OVER for my team =( It was a great season we saw vast improvments and really pushed ourselfs as a team to achieve our own victory! I'm really gonna miss it but no worries I may be doing it again, eventually. =) We had a great after-party and then I had 15hrs of sleep +) Crazy times. I've also decided to keep my new hair cut for a while longer.. hehe =)

In Other news a bottle of oil shattered near my foot lodging some glass in it... It didn't bleed but that was coz my foot was covered in oil. My toes got tingly and it hurts to walk which ain't right so I got it checked out and the doc x-rayed me and glued the cut up! I got a thuggy walk now but thats okay, no permanent damage all is good. I should be normal in 3 days =)

Special Thanks to Dan Ho for driving me to get my foot checked out at the hospital and sticking around. =)

mBlog! This is my invention haha

I'm currently working on the Graduation trip Memory collection. I was thinking I should name my blogger thing... (Blogs are web-logs for those that are clueless and there are names for various types: vblogs [video blogs], photoblogs, and text ones are just called blogs. From now on this is called an mBlog [Multimedia Blog!]. I think it fits the bill I mean its using text, photos, and video, 3 types of media to share the same memory!)

Anywho, some sections are not done or half done but will be soon so check back often! I try to finish one completely a day!

BTW My dragonboat team is racing at Laurel Creek in Waterloo this weekend if anyone wants to see us race. Our team name is "Storm Warning" and we are hoping to take it all! Dan-o

The backlog...

Hey Yall! Right now I have a crazy backlog of content...maybe the last 3 years of my life you could say... I try to do one memory archive every other day. Some of you may be wondering: You can't have video for every memory posted?...Your quite right! But what I will be doing for those sections is recording my personal video thoughts on the memory! Eventually all displayed content will have a journal, album, and video. I got most of the content just need more free time... I really wanna get the backlog of materials online asap so I can share them with you all and get the newer blogs up. Hopefully I can get everything done before I head to Europe for four months!! hehe I can only imagine the fun I'll have there. Don't worry I'll be keeping my site updated weekly for sure!

Tweaks &Twearks

Late night again...damn I'm addicted to this thing! I totally forgot to embed my title font, but that has been corrected. Also I made the "Latest Memory" item highlight on load to help people realize that this is the initial page you see when you first enter the website... I also worked on a feature where you roll over an item in the menu and it shows you the details for it...basically a preview of the section. I got it to work, somewhat but I dont know if I really need it anymore, seems like it could confuse ppl...

My Big Plans...

So it looks as though I'll be most likely going to Europe for four months this coming September 2004. My clients are awesome in offering me my job wherever I decide to do it from! Hence the poll of the month... hehe I have been thinking non-stop where I should go and why. I have for the most part decided Europe because firstly its generally expensive...[This sounds strange but read on] This is exactly why I should go to Europe in my current situation. I have the job to support my extended stay and the freedom to work from any location. It also helps that my co-worker who has the same opportunity also wants to go to Europe. Asia was a strong competitor but I think I'll save that for January hehe. I can always fall back on teaching english or use my contacts in asia to find multimedia or teaching jobs. I really hope this all pans out... In early anticipation that I would be leaving again I created this site to keep my friends and family informed of my adventures. It also serves me when I get homesick...For me the site I think will help me remember the good memories and remind me why I am doing what I do... Eventually I'll settle, not sure when but one day.

I'll have to decide soon as I need to get all my paper works sorted... Help me decide vote in the poll section!!! hehe =)

Tweaks...

On rollOver of the folders I want the details to appear before the user presses the button. The 411

Hey Yall! I'll have new content up every week. The only thing that may take longer is the video. This is because I like making video compliations with the raw footage! So if you see a section with no video there may be one in the works! I got a whole backlog of content, the system I created is very easy to update, phew! So tell ur friends and get to know more about me and my free time!

Daniel Joaquin

Here's some irony for you...

I don't own a digital camera or camcorder!!! Crazy eh? Probably wondering what the heck how do I get content... If you believe you can do anything... haha. Well the reality is everyone has one so I just borrow or ask for ppl to send me raw files. I then choose the best of the best and on occasion enhance the photo's and make compilations with the videos. In the details section you can see the kind ppl that have helped me get the materials. Saving up to buy a nice Camcorder/DigiCam...Soon!

Fine Tuning

The site is almost done! Almost! I just added the slide show feature! So now you can sit back and watch as the pictures fade in and out. Before I release this to the general public I want to make sure all the major bugs are fixed. The few can be prevented with preloaders which will be created for each window. I still have to completed the about section [about me and the site], but other than that its just formatting the new content. My system updates quite easily I just pop in the few files with the proper ID's and everything works!

Brain Freeze!

I am currently working on a new design which will becoming out soon. I am trying to create an event based not time based blogger. Example: A user selects an event from a menu and the various related media's load up. So when someone selects an event the related: Journal,Video, and Album will be displayed all on one page! Sounds cool eh? Yeah thats why its taking me so long... haha

In this current site version I have added a zoom function to both the video and picture viewers. This feature is only working for the Fiona album at the moment, but the rest will follow.
