Comments:Hi, i used to live in edzell and treated staff from the naval base whilst working as a physio at stracathro hospital. I was invited onto the base a couple of times and had a great time as the atmosphere was fantastic. I am writing on here today as i am trying to make contact with a linda mcgill, from arbroath, who married a michael d. o'connor in 1967. Michael was apparently a petty officer on the base and originally came from Longview, WA. Linda worked at the Central Hotel in Edzell for a while. If anyone can help me make contact it would be greatly appreciated.

Comments:Greetings and time to check in again. Lost some email addresses when we changed over our computers during home remodeling recently so give me a quick note and let me know everyone is ok. Susan and I were there in the early 70's and back again after a brief detour to Ft. Meade. Spent most of my time in Ops and lived out in the country. Still playing with antique cars and working as a career development specialist at a large healthcare company here in the Norfolk Va area. Our recent house remodeling incorporates all the wonderful antiques we found in Scotland (wish I'd have bought more) and we always have good celtic music playing in the background. We all share such wonderful memories of our times in Scotland. Edzell will always be the best of the CT Navy! Terry Bond (CTAC Ret.)

Comments:My last overseas duty was at NSGA Edzell. I was assigned to the Base Post Office where I never thought I'd have the distinction of being the last enlisted man stationed in Scotland. When the flags went down for the last time, there were just seven of us left. Of the two enlisted personell, one was HM3 Adam Caudell, who was actually attached to the Branch Clinic, which was a tenant command. The other was me. I played electric bass for the C&W band Low Places. We played some great gigs on base and off base. I had the privelege of getting to know some great people over in the Edzell, Fettercairn, Brechin and Montrose communities.

We loved the country and took advantage of seeing the sights..even tried to learn golf while I was there. Our son spent his 3rd year of college at the university of Edinburgh, we took a 2 week tour (trifulgar) and traveled throughout Scotland, England, & Wales. We stayed with Scottish friends in Brechin for several days to get reaquainted. There will always be a special place in our hearts, for Scotland. After all these years, we were lucky to find and spend time with Mike & Judy Shannon, who are living in Florida now but were in Scotland during our timeframe.

Well, I now work for the Army! What a shock it is. Army people are a little hard to understand. I'm in Kuwait for a year. Not bad for being in a war zone. It's funny tho...I thought things like DSN and other comms systems would have improved over the years. It still sucks. LOL My son is now going on 22. He still remembers some things about being there. He shows his girlfriend websites of Brechin and where the base was. Oh, of all the strange things... The girl who cuts my hair here is from Perth! By the time she was done, my accent was back. Comments:Hi, came across your guestbook by accident. I haven't any Edzell base connections, however I grew up in Brechin and have returned to the area with my family to settle in Edzell. I just want to assure you all that the kids still play happily on the Muir, families barbequeing in the pavillion you kindly left us and you can still buy that delicious whippy ice cream from The Tuck Inn and get a tasty scone and jam from the "Tweedie". We have a beautiful new primary school and health centre and lots of new houses springing up. A wonderful village to bring up children. I have very fond memories of Independence Days at the base, sports days with the bucking bronco and picnics at Loch Wee when the summers seemed so much hotter. So nice that many of you come back to visit. Best wishes.

Comments:Greetings to ALL. Most make comments as to how great Edzell was. Recalling a bit - RAIN and more RAIN. How much sunshine - worthy of the day off. The rain was not a downpour - just a continual drizzle day after day - Cold, not cold but never Hot - turned on electric heater in dinning room at 33 Denstrath Rd the day moved in (it may be still on). Done a litle fishin in base lake, and a bit of rabbit huntin - goose huntin on the Montrose Marsh (becareful of tide comin in) The Tally Ho provided much of the entertainment along with the George Hotel. Wife hated it - I was either at the club playin some cards or in town chasin the fine lassies. (place a smile here) After 3 yrs it was time to return to the land of ROUND door knobs. Spend much of my time in 60s plus romance room hittin on the oldies of course. Look forward to the Edzell gatherings at the reunions. Maybe more at another time......

She is from Dunoon, Scotland and we met while I was on the Simonlake. We both enjoyed Edzell and its surrounding areas as well as all its amenities’ and lovely people. We miss it dearly! We were in Edzell from 1994-1997. I worked at the branch dental clinic. Loved seeing & treating everyone! It was a small township feel and a fantastic community. I would love to hear from any and all and hope to make a trip back soon. All the very Best to you and yours! Chuck

(US Seabees) During my 94-95 stay we built the base gym, new laundry facilities, and refurbished the BEQ. I also had the extreme privilege of rebuilding a local icon, the suspension bridge in Edzell. We stripped it down to the bare metal and rebuilt it with pressure and chemically treated wood in hopes that it would last for many, many years! I still miss Scotland and hope to get back soon!

Was a CTM2 at Wizard back then...still in touch with so many folks, John Virden, Chuck Johnson, Brian Zoerner, Martin Cameron, Bill Carson, Sue Rutt...the list goes on. A great tour as so many have said, maybe that's why the guest book fills up. Have been to the base twice in the past 8 years, now just waiting to be rented. Was at the Winter Harbor site this past summer, now a research facility. It has a nice plaque there commemorating the CT's there. Great retirement of the NRL building in DC a few months back. Saw Tim Wier and so many others...

Always arguing who was the strongest...Okay Kaminski it was you. Then anyway. I benched 350 last week. Just as strong but hurts a lot more now. Keep the faith. I've seen Kowell mentioned here and i do remember them. I've also seen Lt. Collins mentioned....I played with one of their kids Theresa and would LOVE to be in touch. My father used to run the kiddie bingo and he also played Santa Claus at the Christmas parties. I don't remember the name of the school we went to, but it was a Scottish school with Mr. Watson as the principal (4 room schoolhouse). I remember the big bonfire on Halloween that was in the big field between enlisted and officer's housing. Dad passed away in 1998. Mom is still living here in NJ. Would LOVE to hear from anyone who remembers Dad or some of the group that I've mentioned. I'd love to hear from any of the kids that were there too!

Comments:Hello to all. I was stationed at Edzell from 1961 to early 1964. I was a Storekeeper fresh out of Class A school and traveled to Edzell with Lt. Don Hill (retired). At that time he was a Second Class CT. A great person to know. I am hoping to make contact with Jim Summers who retired as a Chief Yeoman. He married a Montrose girl named Susan Clarkston who passed away at too early of an age. Jim and Susan had two daughters. Jim and his daughters visited Edzell about 5 yearsago I believe. If anyone knows of where abouts please contact me. I married a Montrose girl back in 1963 named Winifred Inglis. Her sister Pam Nicoll is married to a popular Montrose retired soccer player named Bill Nicoll who owned a tire shop down by the Harbor. A lot of Edzell sailors patronized him over the years. Edzell was the highlight of my navy career. Should anyone remember me please get in touch. Would love to hear from any of you.

It's difficult to believe that I have not returned to see the changes. 12 years feels like a long time but then I close my eyes, and I remember being at the Ships Wheel, being sung to by a bunch of my inhibrated friends to the song, Beth, by Kiss. I was fortunate to experience this and other wonderful times there. Can anyone say 'two-step'? Thanks for the memories guys. I wish you all the best.

Comments:Hello from Naples, Italy! I was born in Forfar, Scotland in 1966 at Fyfe-Jamieson Maternity Home. My father, Roger Flores, was stationed at Edzell in the 1960's. We are planning our first trip back in October. Which airport is closest to Edzell? Does that airport have train service to Edzell? My father is looking for Edward Falconer of Montrose. Is there still an American Legion in Montrose? Also, my godparents are Linda and Bob Emerson. They have a daughter, Christine. Respectfully, Anna (Flores) Baylosis

Comments:Returning to Scotland for my 39th trip this January...will stop in the Edzell area and visit friends in Montrose...Montrose is different from 1969...but still the same...the Grove Fish Shop...the High Street...like traveling back in time...my old flat at Kinnaird Castle that I rented for 24 Pounds a month...goes as a Holiday Let...for 1,000 Pounds a week...but the Cairn O'Mount is still the same...and the hills going over to Braemar is like stepping into a time machine...Anne and I have a flat in Grantown on Spey...and it has become our home now... but Edzell and Montrose still hold magic,

Comments:Hello: I was a Marine stationed at Edzell from October 75- October 77. I am trying to organize a reunion (along with Ron Payne)for folks that were stationed there during the 1974-1978 time frame. If you would be interested in getting together in 2008 please contact me. If you have contact information for anyone there during that time frame please pass it along. The reason for the small time frame is to ensure that most everyone that comes will know someone, or everyone or something in between. It doesn't matter if you were Marine or Sailor, or civilian, you are welcome. The hard part about this is locating the people. So please, contact me if you are interested at all. It may end up being a small reunion, but those that I have contacted so far are willing to get together even if it is a small affair, but the more the merrier. Thanks

Comments:Hi to anyone past Edzellites and/or present and future Scot-o-philes. I was a Navy brat from 79-82, went to Andover in Brechin and Halsey. Loved every minute of our time is Scotland. Went back to Edzell in 2002, almost cried at the way Halsey was overgrown. The Scottish people welcomed me "home" as if I had been a native Scot. Much love to Jenny Schader, Tommy, Beth Z, and anyone else that used to play kickball on Golf Park Rd with my brother Alex and I.

Comments:Today was a landmark day for me Thanks to the internet I found an old friend via the "Dreambook". Isabell Inglis and I were fast friends when I moved to Scotland at 19 in the 60's. She was a Scottish lass and married Bart that was in the Navy with my ex-husband Gary Graham. It is wonderful that we were able to connect. I am still looking for Waylon and Pat Goodman, Sherri and Tom Heller and a few more good friends. That was my first tour of duty away from family and it was wonderful to make so many special friends. Helped with homesickness.

Comments:I still think often about Edzell. When I arrived there in 1970, it was straight out of Vietnam and I was looking for somewhere quiet. I found it! interesitng story - my son, Chris, was born while I was in Edzell, and in 1997, in his job with the government, one of his assignments was to come assist and direct the closting of the RAF base we all used to call home. I miss Edzell, I miss the Marines I served with in Co B....
