| Comments: | Hello all. I've recently had two requests for the Co B photo album on CD. I'm glad there are requests still coming in! What I did was photograph all photos in the Co B. photo album (which now weighs close to 40 pounds and upload them to my computer. Anyone who would like copies of the years they were with Co B. (up until 2005) please let me know. I will send soft copies via e mail. If you'd like a full DVD, I only ask for the cost of materials and postage, which is about $40.00. Ok, not really. it's under $10.00 Tom |

| Comments: | Just came across this web site. Have thought about Edzell often over the yrs. I was a CTR3. I was only there a short time--from July, 1970 until approx Dec 1970 or Jan, 1971. It was such a beautiful place, I hated to leave. Got orders after only a few months and was sent to the Panama Canal Zone for 15 months. From Panama I went to the USS Intrepid (aircraft carrier)as a CTR3(PN). Worked in the Personnel Office for 12 months. When I got to the Intrepid I met up with a former aquaintence from Edzell-- Roger Stegall, who was assigned to Intrepid as a Yeoman ( I think). Got out of the Navy in June, 1973, about a yr before the Intrepid was decommisioned. If you get to NY City ck it out. |

| Comments: | Just came back from Williamsburg where the "70's Edzell" group had a reunion with 72 in attendence. We had 20 marines from Co B from the 70's and at least that many sailor. Talked and reminisced with Tim and Josie Jackson, Don Blake and George McCulloch from the early 70's time period. Met lots of others who served at Edzell during the decade of the 70's. It was coordinated by Steve DeLong who did a wonderful job and I heard not one complaint the entire time which is remarkable given the background of the attendees. Frank Cubillo, a ditty chaser with Co B in the mid-70's was the guest speaker. He just retired as a Colonel with a total of 37 1/2 years service. Reminisced a little but then gave an unclassified brief on what CT's are doing now, both in the Navy and Marine Corps. (hint: manual morse is long gone.) Good stuff. You 70's Edzell veterans stay in touch and try to get to the next reunion. The mid-70's group got together last year with 25 total attendence. Decided to contact other people who served throughout the 70's and it jumped to 72 this year. The more the merrier. Chuck Ford Co B (Dec 1970-Dec 1973) |

For everyone that remembers Betty Morton who introduced us all to Scottish culture, she is doing well. If you would like to drop her an email, her email address is: bettymorton@talktalk.net Arnie Qualey and his wife stopped by on the weekend when I was mowing our lawn (yes, we bought one of the former US Navy housing units on Denstrath Road). They were over for a 3-week visit and they both looked great! If you are planning on visiting the former RAF Edzell area, the ex patriots meet every week for breakfast at 9:30am. Seems all the buildings on the mainside are still standing, sign for the club is still up along with at the admin building, training building, etc etc..For those who enjoyed the nightlife oh boy has that changed. Amigos is no longer, it is now a Indian Resturant and Flick and Links(nightclub) are now closed down. So the nights of table dancing are now long passed. Quit a few coffee houses have popped up, great one in Brechin right off the High Street called the Bakehouse(I believe)..Turbo, have a bunch of pics, will send them to you once I get settled in at next command(ya like Novemberish). For those on the facebook edzell site same same, once I get a chance I will put them up... Lates..Riz |

Been back a few times since and am going to take my wife there to introduce her to the place that had such an intense impact on my life. | Comments: | Just saw the message from Fautz about starting the U of Maryland courses. I was with Co B from 70-73 and ended up with 15 hours of credit thru the program. The U of Missouri-Columbia accepted all 15 and I saved a full semester. Got a bachelor's degree and a law degree from Mizzou in 80 and have always been grateful for the 5 courses I didn't have to take. The professor who taught at Edzell drove from Edinburgh because he said he made as much teaching the Yanks at night as he did as a professor. I guess that's why not many flunked, even though attendance was spotty since I was a watch-stander and my supe didn't let us off eve watches to attend class. Still made it though. Always been grateful for the program. |

| Comments: | Just saw Ron Pfautz' message on the University of Maryland courses. I took 5 3-hour courses during 71-73 and all 15 hours were accepted by the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Arts and Sciences. Saved me a full semester. Earned a bachelor's degree and then a law degree in 1980. Had a hard time getting to the classes since I was a watch-stander and the supe didn't believe in letting us off for college classes but still survived. As I recall, the professor drove up from Edinburgh because he said he made as much teaching the yanks as a he did as a professor at his school. I think that's why not many people failed. Really was a good program and it helped me get a head start on college. Thanks for starting the program. |

Susan and I were there twice -yes, we were very fortunate to get two tours at the best duty station a CT could ever hope for. We were there in the early 70's and after a four-year detour at Ft. Meade, we returned. Spent most of the time there in 30 Dept and lived out in the country. Still playing with antique cars and enjoying the many great antiques we found there. When we remodeled our home we designed around them! Sure wish we would have brought more home. We always have good celtic music playing and proudly wave the Scottish flag wherever we take our MGBs. What great memories. Happy motoring always, Terry Bond CTAC (Ret) |

When, that is, I wasn't deployed aboard a surface skimmer (one tin can, two gators, and two bird farms, that is). I was honored to work with so many superb Spooks, and I was also blessed with the opportunity to work with the Scouts of Troop 585, the US troop on base. Also, after searching for Barry Kulp for a few years, he found me...and a few others...Pat Dooling, Lynne Tabor Sitkiewitcz, Dave Bricker, Doug Dow. It takes some people longer than others to get curious about old friends from Edzell...but a lot of memories are still there when you start communicating. Rum and Cokes, Dundee Runners, Eve/Day hackers, midrats...it's all good and it's...Alright Now (Free). |

| Comments: | Stationed at Edzell from March 1963 to September 1964. I think Bob Bradley and I were the only two who spent a full tour their and didn't get married during those years. I was a CTA1, ran Personnel Office in 63, SecGru Admin 63-early 64; 32 Div Admin rest of the time. I was the "C" of the infamous "C & H" party house in Aberdeen ("H" was Paul Hickin). It would be great to hear from any shipmates from those days and see how much has changed in 45 years. |

| Comments: | I was stationed there at Edzell, Scotland from approx. June 1970 till May 1972. Dave Bricker was my watch commander and a great guy. I wonder if his son ever went to Ohio State University. Playing on the base soccer team and participating in the U.K. Championships in Track and Field and Wrestling representing the Edzell base was a great experience. Also participating in the Braemar Gathering two years in a row with the base team with the Royal Family as spectators was quite the thrill. I often wonder what ever happened to the girl I fell in love with "Jenette" from Dundee.....I hope she's happy |

Oh well, shows you how much we change as we get older. Saw that AJ Gray had/has a bar out in Idaho and is now retired, that's cool, great guy. It's nice to reminisce, there was Webster and Johnny, Todd, Bull, Neely, Justin, all the Chiefs that saved my butt when I was stupid and got into trouble, has the MODP forgiven me?? And a special shout to Mr. Budge for hauling my butt to Brechin and Montrose every weekend, sometimes during the week too. Miss my good drinking buddies too, Andy Urghuart, Jimmy Cambell and Angus Cameron who I also should apologize again for stupid things I did. You were/are great guys. Take care. Billy D |

| Comments: | Updated entry: I was stationed at Edzell all of 1967. I really had a wonderful year there. The work was challenging, the people were all nice, both military and civilians. I had great times at the club on the weekends, traveling the country side, meeting the nice people of Edzell, Montrose, etc. and playing golf at all the world famous courses. I was a "T" brancher. I played volleyball, softball, and was a member of the championship football team that year. I left the service 12/31/67, and went to work at the Texaco Refinery in Convent, LA, about 12 miles from where I live in St. Amant (between Baton Rouge & New Olreans, a couple miles off I10). We both retired in 2002 me after 35 years and she after 25 years as a elem. school teacher. We plan on having a long and happy retirement. If you were in Edzell during this time and would like to compare memories, please email. Take care and God Bless. Randy! |

| Comments: | I was one of the "brats" from 74-79, as were my brothers, Martin and Adam. My time at Edzell from a 9 year old to 13 years are and will always be my most favorite childhood memories. From the YAC to the bowling alley. The green door and the swinging bridge. Even walking into the village of Edzell from the base. The "horror" stories of the "haunted castle" in Edzell. Fishing at Loch Wee or riding our bikes around "4 Mile Square". The Bicentennial celebration of 1976. The Queen's Silver Jubilee. Mr and Mrs Arenz. Miss Bright. Those times were so carefree. Looking for other "brats" from that time. I attended Halsey and we left for Virginia in summer of 1978. Thanks to another site from one the "brats" who was there at the same time as my family, I was able to reconnect with one of my best friends from that time, Grace Springer (now Faas). So please contact me if you remember me or my family. |

Nina is Teaching Occupational Therapy to our Troops, Army and Navy at the AMMED Academy at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio. Remember the U.S.S Liberty and the role that John McCain's father played in the cover-up and the fact that Sen McCain has refused to reopen an inquirie as to responsibility of this tragic event. | Comments: | Still trying to connect with the old watch section..Found Bill "Irv" White, Dennis Waldron, Dave Kohouth, and Chuck Truitt, Keith Collie, and Lynn Tabor. Still trying to find Pat Murray, Dave Bricker, and the watch chiefs we had...one sailor and one marine. Great time there. In fact I will be in that area again in June '09. Any leads appreciated. |

| Comments: | I was stationed in Edzell from Aug 1971 to April 1973. I was an RM in SpeCommDiv during that time frame. Played basketball for the traveling Highland Heather Hoppers. My wife started the cheeleading squad and babysat for Allison Martin. We lived off base in Marykirk. I read though the Edzell Connection Dreambook and do not see too many folks stationed there during this time frame. Nice to see all the comments about the base and country. Loved it there and wish to return someday. |

| Comments: | Station at Edzell as an ET in SpeCommDiv from June 1974 to Thanksgiving Day 1977. Didn't spend much time on base, was too busy with the Brechin Ski Club activities and spending time at the Stables in Brechin. Have kept in touch with a number of former Edzellites. We all agree RAF Edzell was the best duty station available. |
