LEFT THE NAVY IN 80, CAME BACK INTO THE RESERVES, GOT TO SEE ALOT OF THE STATES AND THE WORLD, PI, KOREA, NORTHWEST VA., WASHINGTON D.C., BACK TO PENSACOLA FL., JACKSONVILLE FL., IMPERIAL BEACH, SAN DIEGO, FORT MEADE, GREAT LAKES (AGAIN). HAVE RETIRED IN 96. I NOW WORK FOR A CONTRACTOR WITH THE NATIONAL NUCLEAR SAFETY ADMINISTRATION. WE ARE INVOLVED WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS SYSTEMS. LOVED TO HEAR FROM ANY ONE FROM 75-80. | Comments: | RAF Edzell was my first tour of duty, CT-R, Wideband 4/67 - 7/68 (had to leave abruptly when my father died. I've never forgotten driving through the beautiful, rolling hills, the walks to Brechin, the warm local people and all my fellow mates on base - I'd love to see the initiation book from the Tally Ho (can't believe I was actually able to write my name after the initiation drink)! Took many trips in my $250 Vauxhall Cresta with the rusted out floor panel to Montrose, Aberdeen, and Brechin, and great early morning trainrides to Edinburgh after working the 4 day swingshift - Anyone who is in touch with the Balharry Family who owned I think it was the Brownhorse Hotel and Pub in Brechin please let me know? Still recall "it's a brodbricht moonlicht nicht tonicht". Thanks for the great guestbook of memories! |

They would have been stationed on the base in the 1980's (not sure of exact dates), the first person is a lady by the Name of Deena Faults, and the second was Adam Nicholls. | Comments: | I was traveler who became a janator at the EM Club, and was known for my long hair and beard. I soon met Paul Wokich, who needed a job and so began working on the base. An amazing basketball player, Paul joined the civilian team and made it unbeatable by averaging 30 or 40 points a game. Paul and I lived in Duncan the Joiner's caravans just ouside the base. We made friends with a group of Seabees and some others. My memories of the time, although sometimes a bit blurry, were mostly great; including those of my co-workers, Bill Gordon, Norr Cluney and Pete Hampton. Any of yez who are still around are invited to contact me and help me remember the blank spots. |

My first supervisor was "Chuckles" CTA1 Chuck Wilson. Chuck was a great teacher and definitely had his hands full. AWESOME FOLKS TO WORK FOR! I can never say enough great things about them and what they individually taught me. I had a lot of interesting experiences at Edzell, of course being only 19 and a lot to learn, some of them were regrettable. Had an opportunity to work with John Garcia some years back in the civilian sector. Just bumped into John two weeks ago. Visited Edzell for two weeks in June of 1999. I plan on returning for the 2002 reunion. |

We lost a heartbreaker our second year to finish 2nd in the Scottish Cup. Had alot of great times at the club, 25 cent beer, great dart games and lots of card games.If you were at Edzell then you must remember the band JYNX. Always a crowd favorite. The best thing about duty at Edzell was all the great guys I met and great friendships. |

Just wanted to let yunz know that the Anne Arundel Scottish Highland Festival (10/13/01)was WONDERFUL! I took my parents, sister, and daughter with me...hoped to find the RAF Edzell tartan available. NOT Found the booth and signed the notebook but saw nobody familiar. The day was GORGEOUS and the pipe and drum corps (vast) moved me to tears with the national anthem and then GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!! We then went to Michigan where I took my US Citizenship and I'm very proud to become an American. We spent 4 great weekends with Helen & Keith Wright who now have a beautiful home in Michigan (whit a braw cup o' tea you mak Helen). We also took a trip down to Jacksonville FL to visit with Kay & Lance Peterson, (now Chief...congrats), who also have a wonderful home and we had a nice few days in the sunshine before returning to Frankfurt. Retired in Pensacola, but moved to Waco last year to care for parents. Now working at the Jr College I graduated from many years ago as a purchasing agent and card system manager. Ironically, the College is McLennan Community College, our school colors are the McLennan (Logan) tartan, and our mascot is a Highlander. (I was their public relations dream, first graduating class and married to a Scot) Now our oldest daughter, Keima, is a Tartan Scholar legacy. Both my sons, Steve and Derek, are now sailors. Does it get any better. Will be back in Scotland for Christmas 2001 and hope to see many of you who are still there. A chance to revisit old memories. |

Have some wonderful pictures of Kinnaird Castle that I took and would like to share copies with anyone else that lived at Kinnaird during the era. Keep in contact with ex-wife of Bob Raebel, USMC (same period, lived also in Kinnaird) Paula Raebel in the Waukesha area, SE Wisconsin. A wonderful time with all Supply Corp personnel at that time and people in Admin. Often talk of the beauty of Scotland, its wonderful/warm people, and the ease of life compared to our daily rat-race. Glad to see that someone is getting the use of the old base housing - sure remember the beauty of the view of the Cairngorm mountains out my back window of my office in Supply. I still stay in touch with a lot of them, particularily my mentor, CTRC Sam Vallance, CTMCM George Thompson, CTMCM George Theis, Bill Hickey, Bob Hoglund - to name only a few. Yeah, I went through the Counseling & Assistance Center (CAAC) while I was there - and they really hammered me!! Kurt Bagley, Steve Porterfield and Sheldon Ruppert were the counselors (and super good friends) in that fine establishment. |

At any rate, the Jennisons are looking forward to a return to Scotland next summer as our son, Joel completes his freshman ear of high school He was born in Dundee while we were stationed there in Edzell. Our three girls are all out on their own with families and jobs. Christine and I are both teaching here in Sanford, FL, she in our church academy and myself at the local high school. My entire naval career was highligted by our Edzell experiences as I retired from the Navy there. We made some very dear friends while there and correspond with them yet. Mary and Kurt Regling (CTM tye) live near us in Orlando and we go out on double dates once in awhile. It's too bad the base had to close, but there's much more to Scotland than jut the base, as we found out while there. Ta! |

For some sad news now. I don't know if you'll know, but Peter Suggett who was based within the RN Link in Bld 300 sadly passed away earlier this week at the age of 32. I met up with him only a few weeks ago and he had just become a dad and was so proud of his little boy. He was such a great guy and will be sadly missed.
