There is no doubt about that. Though personally I believe improvisation is inferior to having proper tools and a plan. Not to mention I'm going to have a hard time finding a tree branch or a rock in an airport, court house, hospital, etc. "Oh by the way,I want to get my hands on an M1014 Benelli semi-auto shotgun,any pros and cons on this masterpiece?...And can a "lowly" civilian actually purchase this Italian dream?" Benelli M4. Never handled one yet. Yes a civilian can purchase one of those bad boys. However you won't be able to get one with that telescoping stock you see most of them with. Unless you've got a really good friend in the local police department. Not to mention Benelli no longer offers magazine extentsions. Pros -Don't have to worry about user based malfunctions -Faster follow up shots. -Being fed by a tubular magazine there is no detachable magazine to lose or damage. Not to mention you can top it off without removing a magazine. -Only other semi-auto shotgun I know of used by military. Should say something about reliability. Cons - Going to have to cycle low powered loads manually. Which requires taking one hand off the gun. -Since it's fed by a tubular magazine any handling that is too rough might result in dents. While those can be fixed even by the guerilla gunsmith they're not something you'd want in the field. -Tube magazine problem again. Have to reload one shell at a time. This takes time. - If you do manage to get a hold of that LE restricted stock and/or magazine extension you may need to check certain Federal Firearm Laws concerning imported semi-autos before adding any such thing. I'd say if you've found one cheap and/or you've got the money for one. Jump on it while you can. It would not be a bad investment. After all look at how much a Mac-10 or Sten sub-gun costs now after certain legislation introduced back in 1986. |

You're still not getting it. It's not for wilderness use or "after the fact" survival. The best weapon is the one that you have with you. A knife isn't going to do you any good in the desk drawer when you're at the airport. A gun isn't going to do you any good locked up in a safe at home when you're half way around the world on a "business trip" in a country that already prohibits the carrying of "weapons". A walking stick would simply be something for me to carry daily in case I have to go somewhere that does not allow carrying of a gun or a knife. It's to get me out of said place alive and unharmed so I can get back to where ever my real weapons are. It's on the same level as carrying a roll of quarters in your pants pocket, a flashlight clipped to your belt, or a Sharkie permanent marker from Cold Steel sticking out of your shirt pocket. All of which may not seem like effective weapons, but I know what they're capable of. Even without breaking bones they can be downright lethal. More than enough reason not to start trouble in a bar... ;) "Beyond Max Brooks reality,I do believe you'd have a helluva better chance at survival than down here in the hot,humid,mosquito infested swampland." I'd just like a place where I can pick up a cooler full of crawfish and gator meat every now and then. Otherwise I'm going to go insane if I don't have some kind of change in my diet. Survival might come into play when I have a decent sized group of like minded individuals in the area. Which reminds me... If you're still packing that nickel plated .40 caliber sidearm you might want to look into a certain 10mm revolver Smith and Wesson offered. |

Not much has actually been shown, but it at least has the right mood. - Many people will have probably heard of this, but it's worth checking out a comic called "The Walking Dead" by Robert Kirkman. By far the best Zombie comic series around. - I recently found a book called "I, Zombie" about a zombie private eye. Haven't actually read it myself, but apparently it is worth checking out. - For the Max Brooks fans, you may or may not be interested to learn that there is a stupid amount of Survival Guide merchandise available now...little notebooks and the like. Look out!" screamed Starr I looked in front of me to see a large rotting ZOMBIE. Using the shotgun attachment on my rifle I blasted its head off, only to see 3 more behind it. "Star up the stairs, get to the roof!" Running up the stairs i weighed out the options...ther were none it was time to make my last stand. ohh tension rising will i live will i die find out later after i finsish off this giant spliff |

| Comments: | I have my nick name, InTheHead because usually when watching undead/zombie movies I end up yelling "SHOOT THEM IN THE HEAD, STUPID!" My son laughed when his friend, Derek asked me what I meant, so I said that if he was with me during a Zombie Crisis and he DO NOT 'Shoot Them In The Head', I would shoot him in the head and to trust me it would save time and lives. He was floored. We told him he would become a Zombie himself and we just wanted to save him the horror of being eaten alive before turning yourself. He is not as into Zombies as our family is, though he played a zombie at our Halloween display last year (the whole family is involved) -- already got ideas in the work for this year...My son and I have some health issues that keep us home, movie theaters are one of the places we miss most but our little town usually will not show the next great horror film due to wanting to protect the people – more like get them all killed. The movies help to prepare you for the future. We have been creating our own library of movies here at home - which tends to lean toward the horror realm. Derek would like a little more comedy added to the collection. I even have binder of all the movies which friends are always borrowing and then ask to borrow up to 10 movies. Our latest find has been Fido and Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis. Amazon helped with them. They should arrive this week. We are also waiting on the pre-orders that will ship direct, Diary of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Doomsday, and I know there is one or two I am missing. Need to keep up with the Horror Film sites to complete our collection…. Stay Alive and Be Prepared For Anything…. |

' ' - yeah i agree last man on earth way better but none as good as the book itself :) anyway scnario time after star gave me the warning i headed up to the upper floor opening the door my car 15 held infront of me, i nearly gaged from the stench i already knew what that meant month old zom's. "the problem is that as they get worse they get lighter and faster and stink worse"i thought shooting each zombie with one shot to save ammo. Walking back downstairs star asked me what was up thier flatly replying "you dont want to know." seemed the best way to not make her sick.Then i heard it outside like death itself whispers your demise this same noise made me feel like my demise was near. mouthing the words to star i looked outside a shattred indow just to make sure "yep its a horde of old'ees and from the look of it thier long gone" unlike those which were bitten and had some blood on them these where atleast 2 weeks old i could tell from the way the moved faster and could open doors and look inside, but thier eyes wearnt there at all and they seemed to be relying on smell. i explained thie situation to star. "okay we cant stay here and we have to move fast take basic gear but dont take anywater those pipes are gonna be old and loaud and if the zombies haer that were both fucked, were gonna have to continue on foot" star looked grim okay reload and we can get the fuck out" standing up i weant to reach for my car 15 but then i moved my leg badly sending a spasm of pain from the old wound still there, spasming my hand into knocking the gun off of the kictchen table where it landed and shot out 4 large loud rounds. "shit" i said |

reaper slept for what seemed like forever, but it was needed, and as he slept i kept watch. the next morning when he awoke he was revitalized. ok first thing we do is secure the rest of this building and then go to look for a water source. i reminded him of the noise that i had heard when we entered the building. he told me to wait while he took care of it. he disappered down the stairs and i heard gunfire, and moments later he returned. so what was it? i looked at him, and he answered you don't want to know. and with that he took off upstairs yelling back bahind him, if you need me yell. |
