To DogLogic,
I was doing some research on the net and ran across your site. The amount of information you have made available is truly overwhelming! THANK YOU! Bravo!
My partner and I have recently started an online boutique for dogs and cats called The Lavish Pet - San Francisco
We would love to offer your coats and feeders on our site, as we find that there are very few quality products out there for larger breeds! We showcase all of our designers and provide a links page to the most informative websites we find.
Best Regards,

We have an animal sanctuary for challenged animal beings. It has been our great good fortune to home some wonderful Great Danes. All the Danes here have not had their ears cropped so when I saw the picture of you with your Dane it seemed so odd to see his ears standing straight up. Our Danes ears are so soft and have such a beautiful, really beautiful, movement to them. It makes me wonder why anyone would put a Dane through the pain of surgery just to make them look like they just stuck their paw in an electrical outlet.

I am sososo much in love with my Dane Brutis, but he is trying to run the house & I am at my wits end, with an at home office job, 2 year old, 9 old Rotti (not in a very good mood) & a little dog that is being used as a chew toy.
I sososo hope that this site is able to help me with obedience training, as there are no schools where I live. And I have looked everywhere.
Wish me luck & if anyone has any advice or links, please send them!!
Thanks

1 year ago my husband and I acquired an Aussie. From what I was told Aussies have a great deal of energy and may be a bit anxious. Ben, our Aussie, has been a great dog. He loves everybody and to that extent, we our training for jumping. He allows everyone to hug him and he has passed my tests of grooming, tugging on the ears etc... He is so calm. He loves to play and will run as long as you want him to but in the house, he lays quietly and chews his bone. I am so pleased with his disposition that I immediatley thought he should become a therapy dog. Please tell me how to get started. I live in Schaumburg, IL and I know there are several children hospitals and ederly homes that would enjoy his visits.
Thanks
Michelle

Just researching therapy dog concepts. I have a 4 yr old mix female from SPCA (NY), Duchess great dog she is a boxer-rotweiller mix with a lot of heart and soul. She needs a lot of exercise and I was wondering what the requirements are and where in my area, Buffalo NY there may be a need for the same, it would be good therapy for both of us and others.

Boosting vaccines....
I was recently given an article by a client quoting your website as saying "...if another MLV is given one year later, the Ab from the first vaccine neutralize the Ag of the 2nd vaccine and there is little or no effect. The titre is not boosted nor are more memory cells induced." This is not acccurate. Antibodies have a finite life in circulation, and the levels of a protective antibody do decline within months-years after an immune response. The "immunity" we get with immunizations is because of the memory cells that produce the antibodies in the first place - vaccine boosters "remind" the cells what the pathogen looked like, and they respond quickly with new antibody, but also make new memory cells which augment the existing protection. This is important, too, because memory cells don't live forever, either. Vaccine boosters help make sure that they always have enough.
I agree that vaccination protocols are coming under scrutiny. The vaccines we give now are much better quality and pets have better preventative healthcare now than ever before. We know that vaccine boosters are needed throughout life for the production of new memory cells. Research is ongoing about exactly how often we need to give each vaccine, but we do know that the vaccine protocol we use now does give good protection from infection. Until we have better answers on exactly how often animals need immunizations to ensure immunity, we are still vaccinating annually for most vaccines. This helps us ensure that pets stay healthy and live longer.

Great site, with lots of fantastic information. Thanks for putting it all together. One slight correction however, you state in your vaccination newsflash that <all 27 veterinary schools in North America are in the process of changing their protocols for vaccinating dogs and cats> This should read <in United States> since there are also four schools in Canada (which also happens to be in North America)which bring the total to 31. Here's hoping they will also get on the bandwaggon before too long.

Hi,
I have been searching the internet for info on Revolution as a dog we bred had to be euthanized last week due to uncontrollable seizuring. He had been fine (he was only 2) until the vet prescribed Revolution in the spring. He starting seizuring 12 hours after the medication was applied.
I feel so badly about the dog and his owners. They loved him and are just devastated.
I would be interested if you know of any other dogs that have started seizuring after Revolution has been applied.

I got alot of information out of your site more then i have anyother site yet. I just got my first Dane she is 4 months old today. I was trying to learn as much as i could about these breeds. There still is one question that i didn't get answered about cropping of the ears. How old should they be and what is the oldest they can be. I really want to get her ears cropped but wasn't for sure if she is to old for it now. But other then that your site is wonderful

I am sitting here today after putting my 12 year old Great Dane to sleep yesterday. She took a turn for the worse very quickly, not eating or drinking and could no longer walk. Although it was the hardest thing I have ever had to do I know she is no longer suffering. It hasn't been 24 hours yet and I am missing her terribly. I feel as though a part of me has died also. Thanks for sharing your stories with everyone. It did make me cry, but it's nice to know others understand what I am feeling right now.
I don't think I'll ever be the same without Megan!
Thanks for listening.

Great web-site! I find it very informative, honest and definately worth passing on to many more friends.
I especially like your site on the topic vaccination vs. homeopathy! Excellent!!!
Thanks for all the information - I will consider it when purchasing my puppy in 2 months!

Great site! I'm a new adopter of a rescued Dane pup. She was 5 months when we got her. Your info is really helpful to a first time adopter!
Thanks again!

I have a rescued greyhound (Jack), which people often
mistake for a great dane. Probably people who have never
seen a great dane, because Jack is no where near that big.
I'm a social worker for children with disabilities and I'm
looking for information on therapy dogs. Unfortunately,
Jack is too anxious to be a therapy dog.
