| Comments: | Daphne was one of my good friends in 6th grade in Laramie. I remember her well and will never forget the tragedy of what happened to her. I'll never forget the chaotic day at school when the news hit, and somehow I knew it was about her before the details were announced to the student body. I just somehow knew something had happened to Daphne.
I remember her often, but lately she has been on my mind quite a bit. I had never "googled" her name and did so today, and what a flood of memories it has brought. I don't know if you would even remember me, Roberta, but Daphne and I spent a lot of time together in 6th grade and maybe it has taken this many years for me to be able to understand what it would mean for you to hear from someone that feels the loss too. Obviously, I cannot even imagine the weight of it in your life, but just know that you and your family are not alone in missing her. She was a childhood friend, but know that I always thought of her at milestones . . . like high school graduation, proms, football games (I remember how much she loved football), entering college, etc. She does live on in the people whose lives she touched and there are probably more of us than you can possibly know. I carry her with me too. And often the precious legacy people leave behind are revealed to the loved ones left mourning them very slowly, but I pray that the beauty of Daphne's life visits and revisits you through all the pain and ugliness. May that be the beauty from the ashes left over from such a horrible, unthinkable tragedy. Daphne is remembered and still loved, I will never forget her. |

I must say that I am greatly saddened for your loss while I have lost a cousin from being a passenger of a druck driver not too long ago.. He hit oncoming traffic. My name is Daphne as well as your daughter, and as I see it , we are very similar. I love Christmas, my nick-name is Daphi and I have just turned 13. I have an 8 member family- 2 younger sister ages 6&7, a younger brother age 11, mom and dad and my two older brothers ages 22&25. My dear cousin has just recently passed away, and I am broken. She was in a hurrendous car crash - the same age as your Daphne-15 years old. I miss her much as I would see her almost every day and we were close. Now I know what it is like to lose a family member- unbarable. She was getting into the age where drugs were being introduced into her life. One night, she went out with her boyfriend and never returned. Apparently, her boyfriend went druck and forced my cousin into the car and she could not get out. Then it happend. He drove off and lost control of the vehicle and ran into oncoming trafic. He lived with a both of his legs broken while Sara(my cousin) wasn't going to see the light ever again-only in God's world. I am terribly sorry for your loss of Daphne,as I know she is in a happier place from where she was. She would be watching over you and missing you but I am sure she is better. Daphne Kennedy |

Such a precious child, for him to have taken her innocense in the first place. My heart goes out to you, as there are no words for what you have had to experience and for such a beautiful girl to have lost her life to such a demon. May she shine her love and wisdom to you from up above, and send you so many signs of love, and the forgiviness you can someday hope to acheive. May God hold you all in the palm of his hand. I know your pain and suffering as we lost our 21 yr. old Christopher to murder also, his case is still unsloved, we only need some peace to know that they will someday pay for the crime they have committed. It's been quite a while. I do correspond with Judie once in a while, usually at Christmas. We don't get to see each other very much. They, Judie and Wayne came over here to the Soo once, and I've been to their newest house a few times. I was thinking about your family today, and wondered if there was any information on your daughter on the internet. I found this site and I think it's a beautiful tribute to a beautiful daughter. You should be very proud of it. I will show it to my two daughters who live nearby. My mom is 79 now and doing okay. She lives alone, now that dad is gone, with her last cat, Axl. He is 14 and she just found out he has diabetes. She has to give him a shot every day. Hope your family is doing better now. I know this is something you will never, ever get over. My oldest daughter, Susan, grew up with a girl, Amy, at Grand Lake. She last saw her when Susan attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach in 1991. Amy married someone and she was in the process of leaving him when he shot her to death and then turned the gun on himself....so sad. She was an only child. I don't know how her parent's are coping. This was in October of 2001. This really affected Susan a lot. She talks about it still. It's like she can't believe Amy is gone. I know you have people tell you all the things you have to try and do, but they probably don't help that much. I think everyone has to deal with things in their own unique way. I wish there was something I could do to ease your suffering. I can feel the severity of it in your victim impact statement. I'm sure the wound feels just as raw today as it did the day it happened. I don't think it will ever go away and you just have to learn to live with it. You obviously are a very strong person and have a strong family around you for support. That's good. Well, I just wanted to let you know I think about you and your family now and then and wish we could get together for a visit. I will keep you in my prayers. Love, Christy |

"It has been said, "time heals all wounds", I do not agree, The wounds remain, In time, the mind, (protecting its sanity). Covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But, it is never gone." |
