| Comments: | I'm researching my other's family lineage which is Fitzsimmons. Her grandfather, Nicholas Fitzsimmons died when his kids were very small. Story was he came to Burlington, IA from NY. No info on any of his family in the obituary my mother has. My grandmother is disceased and never had any info either. He was killed by a train 10/16/1916 in IA. Thanks for any suggestions on where to look for family connections on him. He's probably a birth record and possibly unknown death and marriage as he appeared to be estranged or just totally out of touch with his family. Thanks. Scott Williams / Nashville, TN |

| Comments: | My Fathers family lived in and around Kells in West Meath, my father is buried in a family graveyard, called Kilbeg cemetary where many Fitzsimons are buried. The site of the cemetary is an celtic tumuli going back thousands of years.
The Fitzsimons came to Ireland with Strongbow, they were of course of Norman descent, the Fitz part was originally Fils french for son, but was used as a title of sorts given to bastard sons recognised by the king, hence Fitzroy which would have been Fils Roi meaning Son of King. The famous Norman William the Conqueror was more commonly known as William the Bastard, or Fitzwilliam. The Stewards of Scotland were the Fitzalans, and they went on to change their name to the less Norman, Stuart, later Kings of Scotland. Many Fitzsimons went on to great things, as for me, well I work in Baghdad re-constructing the country. |

| Comments: | Hi -- I'm not a Fitzsimmons but I was hoping anyone knew a Michelle Fitzsimmons. She was my 2nd grade teacher and she lived in Taif, Saudi Arabia the same time I did. She taught at Taif Academy, the American International school. Her daughter and I were friends and our families would get together sometimes. I left the country (with my parents) to come back to the United States in 1993 and lost contact with all of my friends there. Anyone know who she is? |

The spelling of my Name, FITZSIMONS and my family is traceable back several hundred years and I would be grateful if you would revert your entry to the correct spelling of my name which was given to you originally. The "Fitzsimmons" families are an entirely different line. Thank you. Margaret Fitzsimons. Liverpool. 2004 |

| Comments: | Hi,
I do a lot of research related to World War I in the area where I live (near Ypres, Belgium). For the past 10 months I have been trying to find descendants and/or relatives of a PATRICK FITZSIMMONS, from Belfast. The reason : he fell in World War I,in 1915, and being reported as missing, he has no known grave. However, in my research I have found his grave, though it is marked with someone else's name. I'm about to give up my search for possible relatives, as it is leading to no results. Should you think you are related to : Patrick Fitzsimmons, born Ballymacarrett, Belfast, approx. 1879-1880, or maybe later, a soldier in the Royal Irish Rifles, who married a Bridget, who lived Stanfield Street, Belfast, and who fell near Ypres on 16 June 1915, please contact me. | Comments: | Hi!
Wayne's done a great job here. I wish he would continue his efforts on behalf of the North American Fitz's too! I am looking for information relating to a Simon P. Fitzsimons/Fitzsimon/Fitzsimmons who left County Cavan as a boy in apprx. 1850 with his Father Simon, and Mother __ Gilroy. He reports that they were following an older brother, James, who had left for America a few years earlier. I am most interested in this line of the clan prior to the 1850 date of emigration from Ireland, and in the James Fitz who ended up in New York shortly before 1850. Thanks. |

| Comments: | My family are located in County Cavan. The are many families of this name in the County and also in Counties Meath, Westmeath, Dublin, Down and Antrim. I understand that the Fitzsimons' came from England in the 13th Century having and have Norse connections. The settled in Normandy before coming to England. |

Her father was James and his father was John, both gameskeepers on an estate, we presume in the BArony of LEcale.
Any records out there for gameskeepers? |

Can anyone help?? |

| Comments: | My name is MARGARET FITZSIMONS. I was born in Liverpool, U.K. on 1st October 1944. My ancestor Captain GEORGE FITZSIMONS, Master Mariner (sat Board of Trade Exam in Liverpool 1854. Certificate to be sent to Whitehaven, Cumberland) George was born in the parish of Kilmegan (Barony of Lecale) CO. DOWN in 1825 Kilmegan as a place does not now exist. It was sited near to present day Castlewellan. There is evidence (at PRONI) of another Captain George Fitzsimons purchasing a piece of land to erect a small house, at HENRY STREET (part of present day HIGH STREET, BELFAST) So, using licence, I would think that he, too, was a relative. The purchase took place in 1806 from the agent of the Annesley family, Marquess of Downshire. Would be grateful for any wider names. Our family names include: William, Harold and John. I am certain that the family were originally R.C. in Co. Down. We generally stick, strictly, to the spelling "FITZSIMONS" although all variants are found in genealogy sources. There is a possibly misguided hypothesis that Fitzsimmonses were converted to Presbyterianism in a big way, whilst the Fitsimons family hung on to their Catholicism. But I believe that all the Fitzsim(m)ons had to "sell their lands" in the Barony of Lecale. Has anybody got the time to research/write a book on this family. After all, they have been "up there" with the great Norman families, in Ulster, since the 12th century. Also, not generally known is that our ancestor was one of the original members of the Order of the Garter. Sir Richard Fitzsimons was awarded this honour for exemplary conduct at Crecy. But, this is not wide acknowledged and I would like us all to seek, in our own way, to have this acknowledged, more widely, by the Heralds Office in the United Kingdom. I understand that a recent, more comprehensive book on the origins of the Order, acknowledges Sir Richard's contribution. I would be most grateful for any useful help in the area surrounding Castlewellan: Newcastle and Dundrum, especially Fitzsimonses with maritime connections. |

I'm still searching for what part of Ireland my GGGGGrand Father John Stephen Fitzsimons came from before arriving in Australia. John Stephen Fitzsimons b. abt 1833 was married to Amelia Byrnes. I believe his parents were Christopher Fitzsimons and Mary (nee) Smith. As none of the other death dates for John fits in with my John. Any info would be great. |

Fitzsimonds and Jane Fee. Henery and Jane seem to have come from the border between Co. Fermanagh and Co. Tyrone, Ire. Immigrated with their 5 children, John, Elizabeth, Henry, Ann, and James circa 1845-1851. They settled for a few years near Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada, before many moved on to Ontario, North Dakota, Nebraska and Alberta, Canada.
