//depressed Bad Experience at Macedonia Brook State Park Yes, we saw the "no alcohol" signs, but we thought that was just to break up motorcycle parties, teenagers, and troublemakers. I am 48 years old, my wife is 46. We were sitting by our campfire at 10:30 at nite, quiet, minding our own business. I had a can of beer in my hand. Two troopers barged in our site (no flashlite, scared us to death), dumped out the contents of my can, and issued me a 75 dollar summons, after threatening to arrest me and send me to a lockup for the weekend. This is a park that I had enjoyed since I was a little kid. Now I will never go back again - not because of the alcohol policy, but because of the police state mentality. I tried to make conversation with the troopers, and I asked them why the park had cut down from 80 plus site to 54 sites, and he replied "it presented a control problem". What is it, a concentration camp ??? |
