| Comments: | I have to say that this is one of the few stories that I have read online that just amazes me and will have me come back again and again. I absolutely love everything that I have read so far in this story.
I started reading this years back but I lost interest in DBZ Fiction and moved to a different fandom. I have recently shown an interest in DBZ Fandom again. I am watching the series again in Japanese. And I remembered your story from when I read it a few years ago, 3-5 I think; I cannot remember exactly. I loved it and I thought that I had lost it when I lost my interest in DBZ. I think the last chapter I read was chapter 24. I enjoyed re-reading it so far, this is much better then what most people post for their stories. I really like how you have evolved your characters and the hidden surprises that have come along the way. I was disappointed to see that you only have 80 chapters out of the 102 but I was able to find your media minor account which has the completed version. |

| Comments: | I've read up to Chapter 80 so far. This pretty good, and very enjoyable. It gives Yamcha some much-needed character development, and introduces some interesting new faces.
My one criticism would be maybe you've got too many new characters to give each one the attention and development they deserve. For example, Serori is way cute but she was quickly reduced to a background character. I would have liked to see her get a bit more storyline before focusing on Ryouga (who is one of the more intrigueing new characters by the way). That aside, I really like this story. Hakusai is a well-developed, complex character, who is in no way,shape or form a Mary-Sue. Go you! I never thought I'd see the day that the 'female saiyan character' was actually well written. She and Yamcha together make me go 'awww.' I'm waiting with interest to see if Yamcha's mother turns up again, and what she will expect of her son - or if she expects anything at all. I'm also reading your 'crossed paths' fic, and I like it a lot too. I love seeing Yamcha in new relationships, yaoi or otherwise. It's just so much fun seeing him discomfited or shy. Anyway, catch ya round. |

It DID lose a little bit of its footing when Ryouga was added to the picture. I'm not the biggest Ramna 1/2 fan, and adding a foreign character was a bit risky, but the story kept going. The only thing about this epic that I DID NOT like was the fact that I still haven't finished it yet. This chapter gave lots of insight to Hakusai's past, something that wasn't much explained before. T'was a good thing that Yamcha took Bulma's advice and talked to Hakusai, else it may have only caused more problems. However, I was wondering what happened to Goku and Chi Chi. Are they going to be in the story much more? Or is it basically going to focus on Bulma/Vegeta, Yamcha/Hakusai, and Yamcha's past? Perhaps I shall find out more in the next chappies. ^_^ Great job! I'll admit the first reason I read this story was because it said lemon. But after reading it I became hooked in the storyline. First Vegeta discovers he has a sister. Then Yamcha falls in love with her. Then another sister is discovered. Every chapter has me guessing what will happen next. But when Yamcha and Ryouga turned out to be saiyan warriors was really eye catching. That version of the saiyan regeneration tank bulma made was brilliant. Yamcha I'll admit wasn't expected, then you blew me away with Ryouga. I hadn't expected a guess shot from Ranma 1/2. I hope that means Ranma will make an appearence as well as the other members of the show such as Shampoo, Mouse, and Akane. I do have one question though which I am concerned about. Ever since Ryouga came out of the tank you haven't doused him with cold water. I'm actually interested if he will still turn into the black pig, or if the tank might have by some miracle cured him and turned him back into a full human, or saiyan from the stories point of view. Please address this in future chapters. Thank you for your time. In conclusion, A Light In The Darkness totally rocks! Keep it up. |

In fact, the only reason that I read your story at first was because even though it said that it was a lemon, I thought that since it had 60 chapters, it would be too long to be all about sex. And one other thing. In your story (in the warnings before som of the later chapters actually), yous say that you have written about 100 chapters. Were are the other ones? Thank you. Yea, it took a few days out of my life to read 60 chapters twice so that I made sure I absolutely didn't miss a thing (and just because I adore the story) but I feel it was a good investment of my time. I'd hug you to death but that might make it hard for you to write more. (Of course I could wish you back to life, eh?) So lets see. *gets out the list* Thank you for taking pride in your work - it's beautiful. It's readable. From spelling to the flow of the plot...the whole presentation. Perfect. Do you know how rare that can be in fanfiction sometimes? Heck, it's rare in published books. So many people have great ideas but so few of them can communicate those ideas clearly. Congrats, you're amid those few. It inspires me to be a better writer. Wish me luck. Thank you also for not dismissing any of the characters - far too many romance fics focus on just one couple as if the rest of the world ceases to exist. But you have competantly explored every single one of the characters in turn. You've made sense out of them and their interactions with each other. By doing so you've not only improved my understanding of the characters and their relationships (wow, a story that HAS the relationships) but you've endeared them all to me. Yes, all of them. I feel the need to point that out because it is extremely rare that I come to care about fanfic authors invented orginal characters. Especially invented saiya-jin characters, I suppose those seem overdone to me anymore. Or perhaps just poorly done... At any rate, thank you for making me care about Hakusai because now I'm more willing to give those stories where 'another saiyan shows up' a second chance. And Yamcha... What you've done for this character, you deserve a temple. I haven't come across a better, more logical and heart warming/breaking explanation of his past. I'm a huge Yamcha fan myself anyway but frankly if I ever did manage to get rights to the character I'd hand them over to you in a heartbeat. You've earned that much. Thanks for writing so well what I could not. Ditto for Mrs. Briefs. About time someone gave the women credit for having a brain though it was slightly creepy at first, the way she seemed to expect things to happen. You almost had me believing she was psychic. Thank you once more - I know you may sick of hearing 'thank you' by now but I sincerely mean it - for Vegeta-sei. The planet that is. I have never, ever seen anyone put any real effort into figuring out the details of that world. You have the planet, the language, the culture, the tribal politics - it makes so much more sense. And the bonding as well and the saiya-jin metabolism... All the little much-needed details that the series didn't have time to really explain. Didn't make time to explain. Character depth is one thing but setting depth is another. To have either is amazing. To have both is flat out phenomenal. I would write more but I am out of time. Thanks for this story, rest assured that it is classic. 60 chapters and I couldn't put it down. I only hope you enjoy writing this story as much as I've enjoyed reading it. Take care. |

Nice to see another top notch tough chick in the DBZ story, (go to Lil Songbird's site to see mine). Can't wait for the next lot of chapters to read on this site.
By the way Mia, all those so called DBZ-know-it-alls out there that love to whinge about how re-tellings and A/U's ruin the original story, just tell them to stick their piss-weak comments up their arse! It shows that their jealous because they can't write up a good one themselves so they whinge to other writers when something completely different happens to their favourite character. I love A/U stories because it gives you a chance to fill in the blanks that you don't get to see in the original story, perfect example: Bulma and Vegeta getting together before the androids appear. |

| Comments: | this is the best fanfiction I've ever read so far.I'm up to chapter 59 on the fanfiction.net site-and waiting for the rest.I've read so many fanfictions for B&V-and also for Zechs and Noin (Gundam-Wing)that are all "mechanics" and no relationship-if you get my meaning.Stories are most addicting-when they make YOU feel the emotions-surprise,angst,relief,etc.this story really delivers.I was sorry to read that you received some discouraging comments-any writer welcomes some usefull input-but-merely flaming someone elses imagination is a sign that you have none-much of your own.the only comments I would make is-sometimes there is a little repetition(of terms),but even that is slight and only in specific places-it's not chronic-and doesn't affect the overall enjoyment of the read.I've been toying with the idea of putting my own B&V story to print-and this has definitely been inspiring. |
