How wonderful to see a sanctioned area where fans can share snippets of the imfamous live performances of one of the greatest Canadian bands. I remember clearly my first "experience" of the Rheos... listining to my buddy's copy of Double Live; Dopefiends and Boozehounds and the sweet echoey goodness of the Steinberger ravaging my sense of what Canadian music was. Seeing Martin with a broken arm at Boo Radley's in Guelph... the Fall Nationals. How much this will be missed. Thank you for all the great years of keeping me and countless others entertained, and the very best of luck with all you do in the future, guys.

Brilliant site. I live in Edinburgh UK and met Dave Bidini in '94 when Rheos played the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (as described in Dave's book). He gave me a promo of "Introducing Happiness" (I owned a record store) and I've loved Rheos ever since. On the last night of their residency I was going to see them but my wife was taken ill (nothing too serious) and so I missed them. Always regretted that - I have all their albums now (Couldn't find any more till I visited Boston in '99) but will never see them live - your concert MP3s are the next best thing. Thanks so much....p.s. can you check I geve the correct e-mail address when I registered for the forum "crispycat@hotmail.com" cos my authorisation's not come thru...

Cheers

I was bitter at first when I first heard the news that the boys were parting company and could'nt bring myself to listen to any Rheos. related material for quite awhile.
But "HUZZAH!" this site and all the goodies in it have re-kindled my passion for their music, or is it 'our' music?
However, thank you so much for these treasures which will be pulled from the apocolyptical wreckage, etched forever on dusty hard drives, by aliens in the year 2067. With eyes like spies they will shout, "It Smells Like Gold!!"

Thank you very much for this wonderful library of Rheos music. When they were off the mark, they were pretty messy with the stuff, but when they were a band.. good gracious. Inspiring, devestating.. torque.

I am currently downloading the Aug 11 London show. I think I was there?!?!? I saw them twice. Once at the 2nd Roadside attraction with the Hip in Markham, and the second time in London at Call the Office. It was a great show, whether this is the same gig or not.

When you grow up there are those bands that you just identify yourself with and for me the Rheos were that band. Been to too many shows to count, their music has took me through good times and bad and on March 30th when it all comes to an end i'll no doubt cry. They were not just musicians but regular people you could walk up to on the street or talk to after the show. Thank you guys for all the wonderfull memories.

I've seen the boys live close to 100 times over the years, and I'm hoping someone can help me find a copy of what was my favorite show. I can't remember the exact date, but I'm sure it was in 2000. it was a free show at the harbourfront. The setlist, the sound, and the ambience were all amazing. If anyone can help me out with where I could find a copy of that show please contact me.

WOW! What a great site. Thanks so much for putting this together. I was deeply saddened when I heard of the upcoming final gig so all the tracks on here are quite a pick-me-up. I tried to record some shows but eneded up with some very poor sounding tapes (some with friends whispering sweet nothings into my recorder when I went for a beer or smoke). anyway, thanks again from a giant Rheos junkie. ~ PeteTheFeet

Man, my mind was blown ever since my first hit of lsd and watching these guys back at hillside in '92, and then back again for several years in a row after that. After that, during my cross-country university days, i watched these dudes in Saskatoon, Ptbo, Guelph, Kitchener etc. and i would always bum a Camel light off Tim of which i saved the butts from (was a teenager). Still have my hillside volunteer passes, programs, and those butts from those years as that was sweet times. Regardless, thanks much to the band for making music to really enliven the youth of this no longer so young canadian. vive le DROG and Green Sprouts....

I'd just like to say that attending the Rheostatics' final two performances was one of the most bittersweet musical things I've ever done, since the Rheostatics have been for the past 11 years probably the most inspiring and greatest band I've ever heard or seen. It feels amazing to have been a part of their scene, actually being able to talk to them personally, and attend most of their Toronto gigs. People who don't 'get' the Rheostatics have no idea how much we LOVE them, and how bittersweet this truly is.

It simply goes without saying that the Rheostatics have been the most adventurous and out-there band in Canadian history. "Cult following" does not begin to describe their influence. Every person who has ever dug the Rheostatics loves their music on a level that other people can't even begin to grasp - but they will grasp it soon enough, because while the Rheostatics were ahead of their time, time will catch up some day and their albums are not going away any time soon. LONG LIVE HARMELODIA!

So I basically missed the boat on the Rheostatics. Although I was aware of their existence I never paid much attention until I heard "Whale Music". That was one week ago. What an amazing band. Deffinately in the top three Canadian bands of all time and forever. But now I find out that they're disbanded and I will never see them live, and worse than that I WAS HERE (Toronto) when they're last show was performed.

I went to the Green Sprouts festival Saturday, Oct 23, 2004 at the Media Club in Vancouver. I had been listening to the Rheostatics for probably 10 years through my mid-teen years. I'd forgotten how much I loved this band.

Boy am I glad I saw them that night... I loved the Rheos even more seeing them live -- for the first time -- in a venue that held, what, 150 fans for that night ? The in-the-audience encore, sing-along style just kills me to remember.

The Rheostatics are my longest-standing musical influence.
