All I want to say is that I'm very glad the big corporate hotel was full, because this place is exquisite. Around every corner there is something unique and interesting and the hosts are friendly and inviting. The DC Guest House will be the place I stay whenever I come back to Washington.

Staying at the DC GuestHouse is a singular experience. The hosts are unfailingly warm and entirely authentic in their desire to make their guests comfortable—and, more than that, they're lively, witty, and absorbing people who come to feel like friends during one's stay. The house itself is exceedingly lovely and lovingly kept: it doesn't betray even the slightest whiff of the anonymous or the commercial. It's a place maintained by people who live there, people who find pleasure in beautiful things and a gracious, unpretentious spirit. I remembered, as I enjoyed my stay, a small guest house in Istanbul, just above the Hippodrome, where the proprietor had not yet heard that our century had largely abandoned the age-old cultural pleasure and imperative of treating guests as family. The hosts at the DC Guesthouse understand the energy and satisfaction that result in treating their guests that way as well—a little miracle in the United States, let alone Washington, DC.

Love the place, love the food, but most of all, LOVE the guys!!! What a wonderful vacation. Cherry blossoms were in bloom and the accomodations were impeccable. This will be the only place we stay when we're in D.C. Randy, you are the most wonderful package of "trouble" we've come across. (by the way you cook the most delicious breakfasts) Ron, thanks for keeping the coffee flowing. Tom and Mike, you were funny, engaging and so hospitable. We truly feel we arrived as guests, but left as friends.

This will serve as a “review” and “guest book entry” and, I hope, will encourage you to book your stay at the DC Guest House. Upon arrival at the DC Guest House, we were sincerely welcomed and given a tour of the house with its incomparable artwork and colorful designs. There is a beer fridge with a terrific selection, not your standard everyday beer; there is also a refreshment fridge with soda and water, both at no charge. The breakfast each morning was a luxury and not your customary run of the mill breakfast. The flavors were unbelievable and cooked to perfection. The accommodations are very soothing and make you feels as if you were at your own home. The owners of the DC Guest House will interact with you as much or as little as you wish. I am a “Social butterfly” so I was able to really to get know these remarkable men Randy, Tom, Ron and Mike. I am quite honored to have met and spoken with each one of them. Each one adds a different characteristic and distinctive flair to the house, which runs impeccably. The DC Guest House is conveniently located to the Metro, which made for easy travel and not a lot of cab rides, which can really add up. We highly encourage you to stay at the Guest House; we stayed at the DC Guest House for 6 nights and we did not want to leave. We cannot wait to return and stay at the Guest House again. A.J. Wonderful stay! It was New Years and I couldn't have spent it anywhere better! If you aren't a repeat customer you are sure to be one. I still haven't decided what I liked more....the chats with the guys, the wonderful breakfasts or the beautiful atmosphere. They have outdone themselves. I will be back and so will you! GUARANTEED.

The DC GuestHouse IS the place to stay in DC. This was my first time staying at a B&B and Tom, Randy, Mike and Ron set the bar very high. The service is excellent and the house is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! You will feel right at home in this cozy atmosphere and completely spoiled by the service and comfort food (loved the pancakes Randy:). It's perfect for locals who wish for a weekend getaway or visitors looking for a long-term stay. You will not be disappointed. Many thanks to the dream team at the Guesthouse for making the Thinking Divas Book Club Fall Retreat a memorable and spectacular event. We enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again soon!

I staid at the guest house in the beginning of august 2007 and it's a great place to be ! Lovely rooms, very nice breakfast, very quiet location but still close to the center of DC (only a 10 minute walk to the mall) and everything you need (complementary drinks, wifi, internet, large DVD collection). And everything is included in the room price ! Thanks for a lovely stay. Hoping to be back in Feb 2008. C Ya

I stayed at the Guesthouse in May of 07. I was attending business meetings in Arlington and usually prefer not to stay at meeting site hotels when I can avoid it. I was a bit far from where I had to be every morning for meetings, but I had no problem being on time for 8 am meetings. The Metro gets you close to anywhere around the area and a little walking helped me stay active while traveling. I awoke every morning to the most magnificent smells coming from the kitchen. With the mention of my special dietary needs, they went far out of their way to provide me with wheat free/gluten free breakfasts that were tasty and nutritious. I shared my breakfast time with fascinating and friendly people from around the world who were also guests. The style of the Guesthouse is eclectic with a homey touch. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. I really can't speak highly enough of the men who run the establishment. They were all intelligent and fun to talk with. I highly recommend this as a wonderful place to stay when visiting anywhere near D.C. I really felt like I was staying with old friends. Thanks Guys! Alice

We had a wonderful stay. The DCGH was a home away from home, especially napping on the down filled leather couch in the pit. It was a great location, very convenient to all of DC. We especially loved sitting around the breakfast table chatting with everyone, especially our hosts. Tom, Mike, Ron and Randy were the quintessential hosts. Randy’s breakfast feasts were wonderful and to top it off he had us falling off our chairs with his wit and humor. Loved the room, decorations and fresh flowers. Ps - the toilet paper was to die for.

To all who are considering a stay at the DC Guesthouse, book your reservations now! After a week at DCG in March 2007, I am certain this is the best place to stay in DC. My room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was a delight each morning (thanks Randy!), the location was very convenient and the hospitality top notch. The proprietors have achieved that perfect balance between professionalism and the personal touch, which makes for a very pleasant stay. I'm sure you will enjoy DC Guesthouse as much as I did, and no doubt you will look forward to your next visit, as I am now. Thanks again to Ron, Tom, Mike and Randy for being such outstanding hosts.

Five women, four fabulous hosts, two fun nights, one incredible house makes for a perfect girls pre-wedding celebration! Walking in to this breathtaking home was the first sign of a wonderful weekend. Then the hospitality of Tom, Ron, Mike and Randy made us feel totally at home. The first night we just relaxed in “the pit” which was cozy and comfortable. Breakfast both mornings were delicious. Ron pointed us in the right direction for afternoon shopping. We couldn’t get enough of just hanging out in the house and absorbing all the beauty from the art work and sculptures to the furnishings and even the Murano glass walls in the dining room. We were thrilled to meet Taylor. She’s adorable! Thanks for sharing the history and the pictures of the house and being the perfects hosts. We can’t wait to come back!

It is true that there really is no way to describe The DC Guesthouse. It simply is one of those places that is beyond words, a magical secret that you dream of stumbling across on your travels. If you stay for a day or two weeks you will feel comfortable and at home (well, unless some one makes a fabulous breakfast for you every morning at home it might be better!) Our stay at the DC GuestHouse was absolutely wonderful. After a long 6 hour battle with traffic from NYC, we were warmly welcomed into the house by Michael, who patiently waited to greet us. The accomodation is absolutely relaxing and comfortable. Within hours, everything feels natural and familiar, though I'd challenge anyone to not be amazed by the beautiful collection of art throughout the house. Literally, every turn you'll find something new. One of the most inviting part of the stay has to be the hosts. Randy worked wonders in the kitchen preparing the awesome breakfasts. Mike, Tom, and Ron were not only charming and warm, but highly knowledgeable of the area and restaurants. The breakfasts around the table have to be some of the most memorable times I had at DC Guest House. I'd highly recommend DC Guest House to anyone who wants a place that feels like the home of a family/friend. The hospitality and unbelievable location leave little reason to not come back again and again. Thank you guys for making the stay so wonderful.

I loved my stay here during a couple of cold February days in 2007. The house has a great feel to it. This is, of course, in huge part due to its present inhabitants, but I also like to think of its long history. I was most fascinated by its incarnation as an African American-owned undertaker's. The ghost from that era is said to be a gentle, care-taking presence-- if indeed you do get to witness him. On a more serious note: The house is very close to the Convention Center. A pleasant 5 minute walk through a fascinating neighborhood. What you will find: Four genial hosts and one adorable daughter who occasionally graces the place. Comfortable, unique rooms, all filled with antiques, art and comfortable beds, lovely linens and excellent lighting. In the mornings you will wake to the delightful scent of good coffee and a fabulous breakfast which starts with fresh, fresh fruit. While I was there I had probably the best French toast yet, and an excellent frittata. The sitting areas of the house were most pleasant and again filled to the brim with art-- much of it African and Pacific Rim, but also Deco, and very modern art. There's a perfect business center with a computer with DSL and a printer. All of which you can use gratis, sitting down in " The Pit" watched over by a tank full of fish and a fireplace. If you're as lucky as I was, Thomas or one of the other owners, will offer you a glass of wine from the wine storage in the same room. You will find a jolly group breakfast with some or all of the owners present. It actually feels like sitting down with that big cosy family that you may or may never have had. Won't You Won't find: The sense of invading someone else's house such that you feel you have to stay out during the day even if you don't want to. You won't feel that you have to rush/sneak up to your room lest you be entrapped by an over-friendly host who will want to offer you tea and annoy you. A Laura Ashley/Martha Stewart place with bowls of low-end potpourri all over the place and polyester dust ruffles on all the beds. No way, this place is sophisticated yet homey. Check it out! You'll love it. I intend to return soon.

We stayed at the DC GuestHouse in October 2006 for three nights and we wish we could have stayed for three weeks. Randy, Ron, Tom and Mike went above and beyond to make our stay a wonderful experience. We have never stayed in a guest house or bed and breakfast before, so we were not sure what to expect and certainly had doubts. We found the longer we stayed there, the less we wanted to stay in a hotel. If you are in the D.C. area, we would HIGHLY recommend staying here, you will not regret the experience and will leave with fond memories. Randy, thanks again for letting us heat up our leftovers and raiding your wine cellar!!! That evening will be remembered and cherished until we meet again! :)

My husband and I stayed at the DC Guesthouse for a week long conference. While we are both fans of staying at B&B's, this experience was like no other for us. Ron, Randy, Tom and Mike were wonderful hosts and even more importantly are great human beings. They made you feel welcome and a part of their family. So much so that they offered my husband the opportunity to iron sheets on a day he was unsure what to do while I was at the conference! (hee..hee) All kidding aside, it is obvious that these four have put their heart and souls into this amazingly decorated guesthouse. And...if I were to get started on how incredible the breakfast was each morning, I would be writing a novel! It was a true pleasure to stay at the DC Guesthouse and an even greater pleasure to meet such wonderful friends. We'll most certainly be back! The Lux's - Lisa & Mitch

I had the great pleasure of staying at the DC Guesthouse last year in November and I must say It was a wonderful experience. The Brothers who own the establishment are kind, cordial, and sophisticated. Not overlooking any detail for the comfort of thier guests, the men are pleased to meet any reasonable need a guest may have. I am proud of these men and the precedent they have set for others as a first class bed and breakfast. It will be my joy to stay here again and again.

Words cannot begin to describe how beautiful this home is. When you walk inside, the first word out of your mouth will be "Wow", and that is all you will say as you go through the house. It's an oasis in the middle of DC with a surprise around every corner. There is nothing else anywhere like it. Whether for business or pleasure, the DC GuestHouse is the only place I stay when in Washington, DC. My first stay was booked by a church for whom I was doing a speaking engagement, and my experience was so wonderful that over the years since then, not only have I chosen it as my 'residence' when I am in DC, but also I have selected as a perfect location to host retreats, meetings and other gatherings. I refer everyone! The DC GuestHouse has set the standard so high that I'm always looking for places like it in other cities, but I have yet to meet their match. The proprietors -- Randy, Ron, Tom and Mike -- have become like family and the DC GuestHouse is truly my home away from home. Thanks guys for your consistently exceptional hospitality, excellent culinary skills, and extremely enjoyable conversations!

My wife and I stayed at the Guesthouse back in April (I've been at sea since hence why it's taken so long to sign guestbook!) when we visited DC and thought it was fantastic. We stayed in the superb Chocolate Room and were totally satisfied...the guys immediately make you feel at home and you get a superb breakfast (we were stuffed!). We especially liked the open access to the fridge for soft drinks and the house's great decor. For fast Access to downtown sites and attractions the Circulator Bus costs $1 and stops right nearby. For nightlife and good food, you're well situated near the U-Street corridor and the Convention centre is 2 minutes away by foot. We have no reservations in recommending the DC Guesthouse to anyone...

Thanks for a wonderful few days in DC. The guesthouse is an archival experience equal to that of the museums in the city, and that's saying something. Beautiful, fascinating collectibles and art are everywhere inside, as well as details and furnishings that made our stay as comfortable as possible. Breakfasts were superb. Thanks again.

Looks like a beautiful facility, I know how rough it can be starting from scratch. Look here http://medalin.web.fc2.com/lortab/ I have done it twice in my life and if I ever do it again it will be for my own use only, not the publics, but for now it helps to pay the bills.

Wow! I didn't realize we had not signed the guest book last year when we were there. By the way we did give your brochure to the Tabard Inn for overflow. Cute place but not as nice as yours. We had a wonderful time having the whole house to ourselves. Your art and collectables are magnificent. Your spirit dolls incredible. Breakfast was wonderful. Restaurant recommendations Superb. The mussels at Mercado are worth a special trip back to D.C. all by themselves. You really you have to try Mercado when you are there... its just up the street. But especially the hospitality, and your beautiful daughter, she is so precious. The red room was spacious and comfortable and made us feel right at home. Thanks for a great time.

I had a great stay at the D.C. Guest House. I highly recommend the house to anyone looking for comfortable and spacious surroundings to stay at while visiting the District of Columbia. I have already begun making my friends aware of the DC Guest House.

What a discovery - to have found the perfect place to stay in DC! You guys are the best. The breakfasts are superb, the atmosphere divine, the company most enjoyable. We're anxious to come back to see the new dining room. Thanks for making our visit so much fun (and for the wonderful chocolate brownies!)

The DC Guesthouse is my second home and family. The Guesthouse makes my frequent trips to DC just another "day at the office" with a restful calm place to call home after long hours and long days. .. . If you play your cards right you even get your own personal front door key ! Love You Guys ! Mary

Thank you so much for making my husband's 50th birthday celebration such a success! Wonderful rooms, beautiful artwork, delectable breakfasts, great location, the artistic cake. You made us feel so welcome, and my in-laws (staying at the Grand Hyatt) were extremely jealous of our excellent accomodations. We'll be back!
