I'm from the confusing lineage of Purviance in Old Mecklenburg and Old Anson county NC. and at a name change crossroad. Alfred Pervines was born in Mecklenburg co although I can't find records except family bible. Apparently fires in the early 1815-20 destroyed them. Alfred Married Lucretia Proper and Lucretia is buried at Weddington Cem. along with my Davis ancestors. My surnames are Davis,Pervines,Tomberlin and Harkey around Sandy Ridge township 1813 to 1899. In 1920 H. L. Morrow Aircraft Corp was located in Charlotte. My dad, A. Maurice Palm, was chief pilot. I believe they sold rides and dropped advertising leaflets at fairs. My dad and Mr. Herron leased a Curtiss Jenny Airplane and started the Carolina Flyers. Dad hit a telephone pole while landing the plane in the air field near the Plasa in Chatham estates. | Comments: | James Orr lived next door to his brother Nathan Orr, on Sugar Creek in Mecklenburg, NC. Both wrote wills in 1778/1779. James died about April 1778. He was a Sargent and and a Major in the Revolutionary War. Both James and Nathan are in the Tax List of Cumberland Co, PA in 1751. If anyone can tell me who their father was or when they immigrated I would be appreciative. The older James had a son named James, born about 1750, who was a Sargent and a Major with the NC Line in the Rev. War. |

William Columbus Miller married Elizabeth Jane Ross( she was born in Providence) Her father was James Newell Ross, mother Mary Laura Wilson. William B-4/10/1844 d-2/19/1920 Married 2/17/1876. Elizabeth b-10/31/1857 d-3/17/1928. They raised their 11 kids in Huntersville. I have all their names. What I'm interested in is more on their parents. I have Williams fathers name is Andrew and mother is Laura.( their buried in Iredell county prospect cemetery) all this is in the Family bible. He had 5 brothers and sisters born in Iredell county. Names are George,Clint,Betty(married a Freeland), Rose( married a Sowers), Jane (married Will Moore). I have nothing else on them. On the Ross side I have names and Dates of Elizabeth's Brothers and Sisters and Parents. I know James Newell Ross was a member of the Company K, Eleventh Infantry in the Civil war. he was wounded in battle May 12th at Spotsylvia Court House, Virginia and died may 17th 1864. He is buried in Providence , Presbyterian Church Cemetery. (So are the Millers) Laura married a Colonel William McCall. That's all I have on them. I am trying to straighten out family stories and records which is not easy because of I am a direct descendant of Hezekiah Alexander (not the signer, but cousin of the signer of the Meck Dec of Independence) and Hezekiah Alexander (the signer). I believe the first one is the descendant of Abraham Alexander while the later is the descendant of James Alexander. I am also descended from Nathan Orr, Alexander Queary (Query), and the Hunter family of what is now Huntersville, NC., and John Jacob Barnhardt of Cabarrus County. I am laterally connected to the Cochrans, the Gallaways, the Reids, the Caldwells, the McWhirters, the Morrisons, the Craigheads, the Pharrs and the Whites. Any help that anyone might be able to give me would be appreciated. I especially would like to know the location of the Orr Place in what is the Newell Hickory Grove area, not far from one of the Alexander plantations.

| Comments: | I am searching for information on Martin West, living in Mecklenburg Co by 1800. His will was probated there in 1830 with Zachariah Capps and Stephen Tilghman as witnesses. Samuel Knox's will mentions his land bordering Martin West on Steele Creek.
His sons Matthew and James served in the militia in the War of 1812 from Mecklenburg Co. Sons Matthew, James, and Jesse were mentioned in Martin West's will, as well as at least one unnamed daughter. Any information or suggestions for further research will be appreciated. I have quite a bit of data to share on Matthew and James, but cannot locate Jesse. |
